Maidana's chin isn't granite. But it's not as bad as some people think, he's got heart so if Khan puts him down he'll get back up again.
There's only so many times a guy can keep getting dropped, though. By rights, the ref might jump in. Had Ortiz managed to deck him a few more times, I wouldn't have objected to a stoppage.

All these posts have me guessing and second-guessing this fight.
I now officially don't know how Khan or Maidana can possibly beat eachother.
If I was Khan's trainer I'd probably panic at the last second and tell Khan to jump on Maidana and get my man stretchered out.
 elaborate?
He has a glass chin, he was born with a shitty chin. Understand now? Working out some muscles to obtain neck muscles will help him out some extent, but I doubt it will turn his glass chin into superman. Its not just his thin neck, its his chin! His chin is his weakness like supermans weakness is kryptonite!
He needs to keep the fight in the centre of the ring and Maidana at the end of his jab the ENTIRE fight.
If he gets in close he needs to clinch, he can't take even one solid shot from Maidana IMO. He needs to pump the jab and close up as soon as something comes over or under his jab and move away.
He has got a six week training camp to develop a mike tyson neck. Anything else and the probability of him getting sparked increase greatly.
should be aiming for this:

Not enough, the neck muscles will help him sustain some of the punch resistance. But I do believe it wouldn't dramatically change any punch resistance.
Maidana needs one shot. He's a big ****ing puncher and Khan's chin is shit. I think Khan could put Maidana down once or twice, but he won't knock him out. And El Chino lands the first big punch, I don't know if Khan will be able to stand. Breidis Prescott's power does not compare to Maidana's.
The thing about Maidana is that he has so much power that if he caught just about anyone at LWW with a great shot he'd put them down, so it's not like that's a distinct advantage against Khan. The way to beat Maidana isn't to walk through his punches, but to outbox him and Khan is a bad matchup for Maidana from that perspective because of Khan's speed and technical ability. Still a hard one to call, but I don't think the matchup suits either of them particularly.
This might be a fight where the guy with the puncher's chance is the overwhelming favorite LOL. I think a grzing punch from maidana would rock Khan's world. and I'm a khan fan but that chin is too damn fragile.
Khan wouldn't be foolish enough to go after Maidana early the way he did Salita.
He didn't even need to go after him early - the poor fella was standing there to be hit, and that 1-2 with an oh-so sneaky feint landed from 3ft across the ring. :shk1:
Myself, along with everyone in the arena, had only just sat down and got ourselves settled after the ring entrances, and Khan goes and makes us stand right back up after 10 seconds. :laff2:

But yeah, Amir is by far the superior boxer and should win this as long as he doesn't get reckless. By KO would not surprise me.
All Maidana needs to do is put his hands up and bumrush Khan.
As if Roach wouldn't have prepared a gameplan for such an attack, though. That's the first thing they'd anticipate from him.
It seriously will only take one decent shot to fuck Khan up.
Likewise one speedy, well-placed shot from Khan could put Maidana on his arse more times than Ortiz did. He's a hard bloke is Chino, but his chin doesn't seem to be anything special.
I really would not be surprised at all if we saw another Salita-type performance, with Khan's speed and underrated power completely overwhelming the KO monster early or late.

You've only just realised?
:lol1:
Khan needs to keep Maidana out with his jab and use his speed to land combos. But if Khan tries to work Maidana's body he's going to be vulnerable to counters.
Khan's going to have to be on his bike all night with Maidana. But what worries me the most is that Maidana hurts to the body too.
I don't think Khan can beat Maidana.
I'm dying laughing at your post because you're right but I think Roach will develop a good gameplan for Khan. I'm not a Khan fan btw, but I think he can beat Maidana.

I agree, although Khan's conditioning seems superior Maidana only needs to condition himself for 6 because if he hasnt caught his man by then its going to be a long second half of the fight.
Run.......
khan can win this fight but he needs a chin to win it, maidana surprised me with his countering ablity against ortiz and he aint slow like some people thinks especially hand speed, foot speed aint that fast but he makes up for it by cutting off the ring alot better
khans power is seriously over rated for someone like cliff rold to give him a b+ for power is a joke, hes a b- he has respectable power!!! to beat maidana u need a good chin or decent power
jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab.
The punch that travels the shortest distance and leads him less likely to get countered. Use height and reach and keep it long. Maidana won't be able to counter Khan's jab - he's not good enough. It's all about whether Khan can keep and control distance. Also irrespective of everything Khan is going to have to take something from Maidana he's just got to make sure he's not walking straight into it at the very least.
I wouldn't bet on Khan or Maidana. Who knows Khan could catch him cold and destroy him in a round which is just as likely as Maidana doing the same.
