He just plain and simple reminds me of Iron Mike in there. Sure he has more holes in his game than Mike had in his prime, but the blueprint is still there. He simply is awesome and I actually think he is getting better. He is starting to get some head movement going now.
I'm with you man.
Exaggerated head movement when trying to get inside, then once there just ripping power shots, uppercuts hooks, mixing it up with the body and head.
Good call sir. Obviously he's not Mike, but he seems to employ a very similar fighting style.
Dwyer said Katsidis reminds him of Tyson.

He was right on also. Figures he would see it first. I noticed it last night for the first time.
I was impressed by his head movement. I personally didn't give the first 2 rounds to Mitchell as I thought katsidis did a good job slipping the punches and catching him hooks.
The only differerence is that Tyson didn't have paper tissue skin, had better upper body movement, better balance and had true one punch KO power, while Katsidis doesn't have that one punch ko power but it is more heavy handed strong pressure type of fighter.
i can definitely see a similarity...give Kats a tan and tell him to bob and weave and you're in business
He does bob and weave at times, just as exaggerated as tyson did. He just does not do it a lot. He should though.
Did you guys see how Kats was sparring before the fight? Kats is mad crazy! He wasn't doing pad-work like most fighters do to get ready for the fight! He was doing actual sparring in the dressing room! I got video footage of it too.
Katsidis has an underrated defense in my opinion. You may have scored the first 2 rounds to Mitchell depending on what you liked. But alot of what Mitchell threw did hit the guard of Katsidis.
I remember Dwyer alluding to the same thing in his Katsidis-Mitchell prediction video. I hadn't noticed it before, but yeah - the extreme head movement and peek-a-boo guard is reminiscent of the great Tyson, plus all the rest you mentioned.
And yeah, I'm sure there'll be naysayers who'll come in here and say "How can you disgrace the name of Tyson by comparing that one-dimensional bum Katsidis (who lost to feather-fisted Casamayor and Diaz!!!!!!11111) to him?" Yada yada yada. No shame in comparisons.
He may not be as good as Tyson was, but the heart and soul is still there. I watched the fight today and his whole demeanor was tysonesque. Even when he literally foot chased Mitchell in the first round still trying to get his digs in.
