Khan's American business partner, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions, said afterwards: "I think Khan is probably going to be fighting 31 July in the UK. That's just before Maidana fights.
"After that, he'll come back to the States, but we'll have to discuss opponents. Another one of our fighters had a big victory in England tonight – Katsidis, who took care of Mitchell. Katsidis is always an exciting fighter, who can really rock the house."
In my opinion this is a great fight and a big risk for Khan to take. Katsidis easily has the power to hurt Khan, and while he isn't very tall, he looked huge and Tyson-esque against Mitchell. This would be a dangerous fight for Khan to take on, before going back to the states to fight Maidana or Bradley, and one in which he has every chance of losing. However, his slick and quick, jab centered style is probably the exact medicine to counter the all out brawler approach of Katsidis.
An excellent fight in my opinion. Especially as July is only two months away. What do you think?
Hmmm this is a horrible match up for Khan. Kats likes to get in close and land bombs where Khan likes to stay at distance. I dont think this will happen, dangerous fight.
How about Katsidis v Maidana :)
I would *love* this fight to happen. But I think with the exodus of talent north to 140, Mike will concentrate on being a dominant figure at 135.
I see this as a Red Herring riding the hype of the Katsidis Mitchell fight. Katsidis has made a name for himself in the UK and THOUGHT of the fight would have a lot of interest. Katsidis is BETTER than Maidana. So if Khan has avoided Maidana I have no faith that the Katsidis fight will be made. The interesting bit is they are thinking of fighting in the UK. Despite Khan setting his sights on the US I suspect that GBP found Khan a much harder sell in the States than was anticipated. Khan has a huge niche following in the UK that is his staple market and GBP need and want that money. Setting up fights in the UK is much more of a guaranteed thing and easier sell. I see Khan alternating between fighting in the UK and the States because America is going to be tougher to crack than they thought.
Khan always wanted to alternate between the UK and the U.S. If he keeps on winning on both shores, the potential PPV market would be huge. Especially if he ended up fighting the likes of Mayweather.
This is a dangerous stay busy fight whatever way you look at it. Maidana is injured at the moment and probably won't fight until late August, and Khan has just took a long resting period. I think he wants to fight more often, and is ready to do so.
July 31 - Katsidis/Prescott
October/November -Maidana/Bradley
I would love see Khan fight Katsidis next. Such a great fight with a lot at stake. Khan could shut Mitchell and Warren up, while silencing the critics who hark on about his chin every minute. Hopefully it happens.

There's no way he will fight Maidana, Bradley, Alexander in his next fight. July 31 is only about 2 months away, do you seriously think he has enough time to prepare for those guys and make a fight happen with them in 2 months?
Someone like Katsidis or Prescott or maybe even someone like Murray would be a good opponent for July and then after that he should take on Maidana or Bradley late this year.
i doubt he would fight in july...maybe in october or november this year im thinking..but he does intend on fighting the winner of bradley/maidana.
He never says anything about Khan vs. Katsidis. The quote is bunched together. He was just making a point about another Golden Boy fighter getting a big win.
