Just file lawsuits to make them use these gloves. They're padded like boxing gloves and still allow for grappling.

The 4 ounce gloves they use now insure they have high knockout ratios and aren't safe for the fighters.

If MMA fighters don't have to use the heavier Kenpo Gloves why can't boxer wear 4ounce gloves too? Every single fight would end in a brutal knockout with no chance for ground fighting and overnight nobody would care about those 3rd rate kickboxing/wrestling matches.
All I want is equity. Yeah I know these are 2 different sports, but they're still combat sports where guys are getting their brains scrambled.
If you feel 4 ounce gloves are safer Boxers should be allowed to wear them too. If not MMA fighters should use modified fully padded Boxing gloves with with full grappling capability. Either way i feel MMA would go down the tubes because Boxing would end up being the more entertaining sport. MMA fighters with thick boxing gloves is only one step above a toughman contest, and a step below golden gloves. We already know casual fans don't enjoy groundfighting and thats all it would have going for it. They're not even high level kickboxer outside of Overeem and Crocop.
Boxing 4 life!
Long thread and none of you have come with the complete issue here.
MMA gloves are designed to be used in MMA. If a fighter is hurt he has options, if he doesn't the fight gets stopped rather quickly. Considering boxing's minimal clinching it would be rather adventurous to allow 4oz gloves back to the sport. Overeem has an egg as a chin and Cro-cop was never that good. I was following Cro-cop before his MMA days, back in 2001-2004 when he was in K1 and started to get his ass kicked by the real top strikers (who never went to MMA) like Remy Bonjasky and Ernesto Host, before Semy Shilt took over, that's why he went on to try MMA. At the time, in Japan, K1 paid ALLOT better than MMA.
Can Chuck Liddell even spell his own name anymore?
Can Evander Holyfield spell his own name anymore?
The same can be said for alot of boxers throughout history. What is the obsession with trying to kill MMA? If you don't like it then don't watch it. It's that simple.
Boxing is the greatest sport to me but I enjoy MMA as well. I can appreciate both sports without having to talk down on either of them.
Lol @ Aren't safe for fighters.
Don't be dumb. What do you think is worse.. being hit in the head for 12 rounds or being hit once and put to sleep?
Boxings padded gloves makes longer fights which extends the ammount of punishment taken there for gets you hit in the headmore there for rattles your brain more there for....... you get it?

MMA isn't going anywhere...
I follow both sports and I can tell you there's more Boxing fans bashing MMA than the other way around. Most MMA fans focus solely on MMA, but find interest in Boxing. Most of the people on this forum seemed threatened somehow by MMA being they also have PPV and its a contact sport, hence the room for comparison. But I think both sports have different structures on how they run whether some work or some could be improved (for both).
There's no point wanting MMA to be eradicated. I hate Nascar, but the hell if Im gonna make an issue about it. I simply just don't watch or pay attention to it. Makes things much easier :fing02:

Y'all are fools if you think MMA's rise in popularity can easily be deflated.
Boxing and its lone ego-maniac has already started to pull his own sport down.
After PAC and Flomo, who else do you have ?
While boxing fans laugh at UFC's PPV #s when compared to boxing's two titans, hey atleast they have other options. Can you mention any other boxers that can consistently pull in between 500k - 350k in PPVs, the answer is no, and that's not a good sign.
Look around the metro-areas, how many MMA gyms do you see, now, the next question is, how many boxing only gyms do you see in those same areas ?
Just go into your bookstore, how many MMA mags are on display, you'll be lucky if you see a boxing mag in the sports section.
Now, how about your local sportsbars, how many of 'em carry MMA PPVs on a consistent basis, the only time you'll see Bars carrying boxing is if PAC and that other guy is fighting.
This is a good post. MMA isn't going anywhere, and neither is boxing. I don't know why fans of either sport are so damn insecure about what sport is more popular.
MMA is growing though, it's difficult to deny that.
fists.
why the hell would i fight with gloves on?
this ain't sparring.
comparing mma gloves to brass knuckles and baseball bats is idiotic.
mma started out without gloves. no one died.
they only started using the gloves to get sanctioned by states.
All I am saying is the less padding there is the less I want to get hit. I would rather get hit by something with some give to it. I don't think more boxer's getting Ko makes for a safer sport.
Less padding also makes it hard to cover up equaling more clean power shots.
Spit it out man. You want to get in a fight with boxing gloves or fists?

I live in San Jose california. There's about 5 boxing only gyms in this city. 1 of which Andre Ward trains in occassionaly when he's in the area. None of which produce world championship quality fighters.
Some of the most high profile mma gyms in the world however in the same city. from A.K.A. Cung Le's, and Frank Shamrock's Lion's den. All of which produce world championship quality mma fighters.
Boxers don't grapple.
No shit.
Whole point of the thread was that the TS wanted mma fighters to wear hockey gloves so that there would be no excuse for mma fighters to only throw 1 or 2 punches at a time and no excuses for glass chins because of little baby gloves without hindering grappling.
When in fact if you gave boxers the little baby gloves they use in mma they would only be able to throw a couple of shots at a time as well without breaking a hand or wrist.
Your right lets just give the fighters brass knuckles or better yet base ball bats. That way it will take less strikes to knock them out.
okay.......
der der.
