Since I am precluded from posting in the other thread, the best offense in boxing doesn't have 5 stoppages in his 14 fights above 130 pounds. Sorry.
Excellent accuracy and +/- % (by virtue of perhaps the best defense in boxing in combination with the aforementioned.)
But best offense? No, just no.
I'm still trying to decide who has the best offense in the game.
But I will say that criticizing Pac for his poor accuracy against Clottey, while ignoring the fact that Pac's offense in that fight almost completely shut down Clottey's. Pac makes up what he lacks in accuracy (which isn't that bad against someone that's actually trying to fight back,) he makes up for in volume and power.
Williams has poor accuracy, but IMO a great offense, in that he's able to beat top fighters in spite of having a fairly leaky defense. And he's able to land in close, at mid range, or at a distance. Even when he's missing, he makes you concentrate more on defense than exploiting whatever opening he might be giving you.
Gamboa, Williams, Pac, Adamek, Bute, Bradley, Darchinyan, in no particular order are the guys that come to mind when I think about offense.
Floyd definitely has the ability, but he seems more concerned with not getting hit than ending fights or overwhelming his opponents with sheer offense, at least for any length of time.
I agree.. U can throw JuanMa in there too.. all those guys are fun to watch

I dont agree with the Klitschkos
they do not go to the body very well
do not uppercut very well
its formidable do not get me wrong but its not as varied as say a JMM
gamboa
klits have the most effective to me. they are not the most varied obviously
I can't name one guy as cream of the crop but I would say it would have to be between Marquez and both Klitschkos.
I would say Juanma too but his level of opponents is journeymen tops. So, I don't feel comfortable saying he has the best offense.

I think Floyd is probably the most skilled offensively. However, when it comes to effectiveness, I'm not so sure.
gamboa is more skilled offensively than floyd. the klits are MUCH more effective
Bah!
Why do I forget Marquez?!
I can agree with this. Great counter puncher, every punch in his arsenal is great, devastating puncher, really good body puncher (Best in the game in my opinion)...I can agree with this. Just that at 135+, I don't know if I can say this.
gamboa,
klits,
when kirkland comes back
Bah!

IMO I think he has had the best array of punches of the current class of great fighters and yes that includes(d) guys like Toney, Morales, Barrera, Jones, Mayweather, Hopkins.
He really honed his craft and throws every punch with precision and textbook ability
if I were telling a fighter how to throw punches effectively I would pop in tapes of JMM
and yeah above 135 I think he hit his ceiling.
so who's got the best offense then?.......

I didn't know Cotto was the type of fighter that takes punishment to give it. When did he become that? Did Margarito land on a high percentage on Cotto in the first half of the fight? You should be real cuz you making excuses on why somebody is accurate is cuz of a style.
I thought it was quite cleat that the game plan for Clottey was just to touch clottey, arms, glove, forerams just keep touching him, throw often and throw hard. Keep him in that shell.
So you saying Pac combination is not effective? I am not talking about anybody else but Pac. Is HIS combos effective yes or no? Is a simple question?
Since I am not staying real. Then tell me what Pac really is?
Your saying I am making excuses when I am not. Nor did I say that Cotto takes punishment to give it. READ all not just what you want.
No one who sees Pacquiao for what he is would be arguing bullshit.
Pacquiao is fast and powerful. Does he have great combinations? NO. Does he have high accuracy? NO. Even Moderate accuracy? I would say below average because he focuses on throwing multiple punches instead of placement.
Imma just leave it as it is. Your hugging hard on Pacquiao right now. It's as simple as that. I'm not gonna talk to you if your gonna just hug Pacquiao hard.
I don't think Pacquiao or Mayweather have the best offense. So i'm not even in the Pac-Floyd drama that stemmed because of Burner's topic.
If you think a guy who throws 1500 punches, lands 248, 90% straights, 5% overhead, 5% hooks. 98% to the head, and 2% to the body. Is throwing great combinations and has great accuracy. Then fuck it. I don't care.
IMO I don't think Pacquiao has the best offense. It's great because it hurts people and people can't stop it. Is it the best? NO. That's my opinon.
How am I making excuses? I'm am telling you why they got hit so easily. That's like someone saying the reason why PWill hit Margarito so much is because Margarito takes punishment to give it. That isn't an excuse, it's how they fight.
You don't even know the gameplan for Clottey. Are you Pacquiao or Freddie? I'm guessing no. And anyone who has an ounce of technical ability would have picked Clottey apart if Clottey just sat in the shell not punching.
No. I am saying 20 consecutive straight punches towards the face isn't an effective combination.
Right now your acting like how you say "flomos" act towards Floyd. Stay real Jro, normally you do. Right now, your denying what Pacquiao really is.

best offense? Floyd? nah and I am a fan of his
I would say though he has the most efficient offense in boxing.
You could make a case for JMM having overall the best offense in boxing.
Bah!

You are making excuses as to why a fighter is being accurate. What you do not realize is the same can be done for Floyd. Stats are stats and against elite opposition, Pacquiao has been accurate.
12 % against a walking punching bag... aka a guy who won't fight back. Is HORRIBLE.
No matter how you spin it, it's HORRIBLE.
I never mentioned Floyd in the first place nor did I EVER say Floyd has the best offense.
What I am seeing is the dumb ass Floyd vs Pacquiao shit. If one person says Floyd is the best at this, another follows up and says "No. Pacquiao is." and vice versa.
I simply asked Jim who he thinks is the best. Because I wanted to know if he was just doing the Pac-Floyd drama shit.
So you making excuses on why he landed on his opponents.
But, at the same time not realizing what the game plan for Clottey was. OK....
Is Pac combos not effective? Is that what you're saying?

Cotto made Margarito look like a sniper. Hatton takes punishment in order to clinch, the problem with that fight, Pacquiao doesn't stop punching.
Pacquiao lacks accuracy severely, as evidence of his poor percentage against a walking punching bag. He also lacks effective combinations. Throwing punches non stop isn't an effective combination. Jab-straight-leftbody-straight... that is how an effective combination is done. Throwing 20 straights doesn't make a great combination.
Pacquiao has a great offense not the best.

hard to say whose got the 'best' offense. floyd's is obviously the most efficient and accurate. but knockouts should be considered too. vitali's and wlad's would be up there. vitali's ability to break his opponent down and make them quit. wlad's ability to keep his opponent off of him and pretty much get the ko when he feels like it.
pwill should be considered because his offense is practically his defense. when williams gets the ball rolling he can nearly shut down his opponent's offense. same with caballero. chad dawson has a great mix of everything and a little bit that floyd doesn't. he's got the speed snap variety accuracy and combinations. he's just missing the killer instinct.
