People would start off by saying "what the hell does Floyd (high school dropout) know about politics?" "Floyd is just trying to duck Manny again!!!"
But when Pacquiao runs for office people say "Manny (a 3rd grade dropout) has had a wonderful boxing career and now he wishes to help his country by running for election. Good for him."
That is a double standard. I'm a big Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fan, but Pacquiao gets the passes that most fighters wouldn't.
Difference is, Pacman is loved literally by every single person in his country.
Actually to the point to where they'd elect someone who gets punched in the head for a living :/
You're missing the point. The point is that the general public would be all over Mayweather's case if he retired and went into politics. They would say he was ducking one of the biggest fights in history. Just like they claimed he was ducking when he retired a few years back.

Not exactly .... In America we have thousands of ppl..... How are smarter and more qualified then our boxers...... What does this say bout Philippine gov.
They're actually much like us...the best and brightest are in the Private sector, not government.
The Filipinos who voted for Pacquiao are idiots...!!!
Slow people...
Short Bus riders...
Not the sharpest Knives in the drawers...
Cut from a dirty cloth...
I'm just being modest....KILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I doubt you've ever been on a real holiday have ya?????
Stupid? So because someone has a CHANCE to win an election means they are qualified? I bet you are one of the few people who think Sarah Palin is fit to be U.S President.
Before you resort to insults, make sure your argument is valid. Because in the end you might just be the one looking "stupid".
:lol1:

I thought Pac should've ran for a position at a more local level to gain political experience.
And Pac did drop out when he was in the third grade to help his family. But Manny passed the high school equivalency exam and is attending college. Manny might not be some genius but he made an effort to educate himself later in his life. Pac may be underqualified but he's not illiterate.

you musta voted for obama.
its sad when a 3rd grade dropout can be a congressman..seriously thats how i know them people actually worship this guy
It's beyond sad. I'm sure he's doesn't know shit about politics, it's a popularity contest.
Is the OP really stupid enough to compare american politics with phillippines politics? Pacquiao ran because somehow he actually has a chance to win overthere while floyd not a chance in hell here in the US. Shit he can't even makes his payments to the IRS without trouble...

Manny is a national icon from a 3rd world country, who people look up toward for inspiration.
Floyd is fantastic boxer from the most powerful country in the world, who bitches about not being a bigger star due to the colour of his skin.
Only people who hold material things above everything else uses Floyd as a inspiration.
Before you can make hypothetical comparisons in career paths outside of the ring they need to be perceived in a similar ways.
So because he is an icon gives him the credentials to make serious decisions for an entire country? So in that case, Elvis should have ran for president.
different country.
What does that have to do with anything? I'm certain there are many educated politicians in the Phillipines. Poor attempt for an excuse.
what dont you floyd fans get he acts like an arrogant dick to sell ppvs and has a boring style of course the media wouldnt like it if he ran for congress
Read my first post over again. No wait, i'll make it easier for you.
"I'm a huge Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fan."
One thing that bothers me is people who act as if its impossible to like both fighters.

Read what I said above. If you can't provide educated input, please don't troll my thread.

No offense but Manny Pacquiao is the biggest thing that has hit Fillipines since what? The Thrilla In Manilla?
Fillpines is a small country with a lot of poor people. Talking with my Pinoy buddy and BS poster JM1 I learned that what a grocery bag man earns here, he can go to Fillipines and seem rich. It's very cheap to live there(nothing wrong with that). I bring this up because Manny Pacquiao is a pro boxer who gets a lot of millions of dollars so he's like a king over there. Imagine a bag boy is rich there, Manny is a king there.
The US has high, high standards. A pro boxer no matter how rich he is, can not run for something as big as congressman for his city.
How about actors? Are actors greater than athletes that they are of high-standards that they can run political offices? in the US, of all places?
Pacquiao passed the high school equivalency and went to Notre Dame of Dadiangas University last time I checked.
edit: beat me to it.
Bill Gates was a college dropout also, I guess by these haters definition, Bill is dumb and have no place in politics (he lobbies).
Learned == Education
Wise == Experience
Manny have learned the hardest lesson in life and that is how to survive.
Don't be fooled by so called "educated" people, don't count the "pure in heart" out just yet.
