oscar, hatton, mosley, marquez, corrales and gatti all had a great workrate before fighting floyd.
pacquiao's work rate decreased in the two fights with marquez and we all know floyd has better timing, movement, counterpunching ability, faster hands, accuracy and actually doesnt get hit as much as Marquez. The only reason the Marquez fights were as close as they were because of the knockdowns and Marquez hasnt got great defense...
It is Manny's combination of being a southpaw, hitting from unusual angles and workrate that has potential to cause problems for Floyd. IMO Manny needs to get off to a very quick start and dominate the first 4 rounds to win. My hunch is Floyd will work him out and Manny's work rate may actually go against him in the middle and latter stages of the fight as there will be plenty of opportunities for Floyd capitalise on. They are both great fighters physically Manny looks better conditioned but skills wise especially in defense and the ability to adapt Floyd is second to none. Floyd seems to have the ability to raise his game when needed. The reason Moseley looked bad was because Floyd raised his game.Moseley was a very dangerous opponent despite his age. I just see Mayweather finding a way to beat Manny.
Roach will devise a completely different strategy for Pac to counter Floyd's style. Roach is very good at studying fighters and he has studied Floyd in the past where his boxer DLH was matching up well until he abandoned the jab---an important part of the strategy. On the other hand, Pac learns well and follows the strategy to the letter. He can also deviate and follow his instincts just like he did to Cotto with the rope-a-dope.
I think it will come down to who is more prepared and who can adjust well. Pac always comes into the ring confident whoever his opponent is even when he is moving up in weight. I'm not sure about Floyd though as he looked nervous in the Hatton fight.
Man roaches plan against dela hoya was he knew he would kill his self making weight, agianst cotto the whole 145 catch weight thin is kinda bothersome, clottey is a passive defensive fighter, and Hatton is hatton..now pac-man still had to get in the ring and beat these guys I give him that, but he doesn't have any advantages in this fight..speed is nuetral, is 1 punch power is better that floyd's but if floyd moves i don't see him hitting him flush. I'm not saying pac-man is not a good fighter I'm saying roach is a better match maker than he is a trainer..
If pac is such an easy fight for floyd, then why the OST demands? why does floyd need the psychological crutch and confidence booster against pac?
To be honest we all know floyd plays mind games so who knows. it's just part of what he does, he does it cuz he's damn good at it reguardless if he needs to. We all know styles make fights..classic Bull vs. Matador.. basically what I here people saying is Pac's got 9 mins ( 3 rounds for u dummies) to destroy floyd after that I think it's over

pacquiao doesn't have a dlh jab....are u nutz!
yea pacs stance will def trouble him and his speed and punches will trouble any fighter no matter who it is....manny also has great stamina, heart and is a great finisher....so if floyd gets hurt, he in trouble
where was this great finisher who let cotto go 12 rds. Manny has a lot of deficiencies as a fighter. He can't cut off the ring, lacks a good jab, and leads with his head.
I watched cotto stop and jab pacquiao for like 5 rds....what is he going to do with someone jabbing and moving simulataneously????
Easy fight for floyd!

pac's workrate w/ marquez is still higher than most or all opponents floyd faced.

Pacquiao's workrate will not trouble Mayweather. Mayweather's timing and counter punching will decrease Pacquiao's workrate. What WILL trouble Mayweather however is Pacquiao's stance and his ability to punch from odd angles.
this i can agree with, once 2 or 3 rounds are over in this fight and pacquiao hasn't knocked floyd down or hurt him him big time, then he will be in BIG trouble once floyd has figured him out, the timing and angles, etc. Floyd adapts after he gets in that square circle and figures his opponents out, i didnt see pacquiao adapt in the actual fight e.g. the morales and marquez fights, once he was getting outboxed he didnt have an answer to their straight right hands, floyd has the best straight right hand period and has a 5 inch reach advantage over pacquiao.
what i know is pacquiaos best chance to make it a close fight and maybe even win is to win the first 3 rounds and have a knockdown in the first 3 rounds, otherwise after the 3rd it will get as one sided as it gets, and floyd will dominate from there.

floyd..just like hopkins minimize workrate with their defense, movement and counterpunching..you CANT throw 100punches a round against floyd
Yea Floyds defensive style doesnt allow a person to throw so many punches...if someone did try to throw 100 per round 85 would miss and they would simply gas themselves out
But you never know how 2 completely different styles will mesh

exactly, also it'll be hard to see pac's punches because of his speed it'll be tough fight early on for floyd no doubt.
None were up to Pacs level and type of work rate and didnt have his attributes like speed power and his unorthadox way of fighting. Manny is just a different monster then all the rest....y did you leave out Castillo btw?
Plus you never know how 2 styles will mix and Floyd had a little trouble with southpaws
