Why doesnt Floyd Mayweather go to the Body?

I think your right there were times in the fight I thought Floyd should have worked downstairs. Guys like Shane are not going to get KO'd by one punch. He should have tore up Shanes body in the middle rounds once he was dominating and then tapped his chin. But hey a win is a win. My thoughts exactly

He used to have an insane straight left to the body. Doesn't use it as much at WW as LW. He had way better movement, speed and confidence at that weight.

check the uppercut to the body out in my sig..and to answer you..its a risk to go to the body against a big puncher because its more likely you'll get countered when going to the body....remember the khan -prescott fight?? Yea thats what i was thinking too, it leaves you open.....i was just shocked at the 191:17 ratio

Going to the body can leave you open to return fire up top. He does go to body usually, but it was minimal against Shane. I guess he felt he didn't need it.

I could be wrong but i dont think compubox counted all those bodyshots he threw in clinches. Anyway those fiew were felt. definitely also reaching downstairs if your not close in can create openings for the opponent mayweather throws limited punches which in turn limit the amount you can counter with thats why he wins rounds decisively throwing 30 punches a round

Well everyone will land a body shot in a 12 round fight but in just wondering why only 17 body shots, and alomost all of those were jabs Well, that is his favorite body shot. But again, if you are have success with head shots, why stop? I think that is the easiest way to answer the question.

he rarely throws hard power shots to the body but he does throw a lot of jabs to the midsection. does it in almost everyfight

He has an excellent jab to the body. But the answer is, if you're having great success landing to the head, there isn't any need to go to the body.
