I remember in the Mosely fight after round 2 Roger M just saying:
"BOX HIM, BOX HIS ASS"
Surely after almost being dropped he needs advice/opinions on how to avoid that same situation.
I dont recall him giving Floyd sound boxing advice during a fight.
I think Floyd would do ok without a trainer, all the adjustments he made in the fight was his choices.
Roger didnt give him any tips/advice during the fight, just a simple:
BOX HIM!
Im not saying Floyd needs guidance in his corner, but Roger doesnt seem to give good advice between rounds.
Trainers have a limited amount of time to speak to their fighters during the break as such they can't go into a lot of detail.
When you know someone you don't have to say a lot to get your point across. To you he may have been saying ''Keep boxing that mother fka'' to Floyd it could refer to a particular part gone over in training.
Its true Floyd is the director of the show but Roger helps keeps Floyd focused on the task at hand. He also helps in strategy and studying the other fighters reactions and what is giving him problems. Watch Roger before Round 10 tell Floyd to go to the body. Floyd steps up the body attack and hit Shane with some good shots and even with a good uppercut inside. Now Roger isn't the most eloquent of men and you wouldn't want him around the kids but he happens to train the most talented boxer in the world right now.
Roger has one of the best boxing IQ's in boxing. A lot of people don't give him credit he deserves because Floyd is so good, but Floyd wouldn't be where he's at today if it wasn't for Roger and Big Floyd.
Nazim respects the Mayweathers.
floyd is known for being a great boxer, shane isn't.
telling floyd to do what he is great at and his opponent isn't is great advice.
roger rarely has to give his nephew advice, go watch castillo 1 roger told floyd to stand his ground and stop going to the ropes that is what may have won floyd the fight.
People seem to read too much into these corner conversations. Roger has never been the most eloquent of guys but neither is Roach. He's been training Floyd for a while now and has never lost with him so he's doing something right. I think it's to his credit that his corner remained calm after the 2nd round and told Floyd all he needed to know to take over the fight.
Some people are also just idiots ... Everyone in boxing know the real deal about the Mayweather's - its only on boxing forums where tools can make obscene statements, proving they truly don't know shit about boxing.
Some of these fukin guys on this forum should be watching hopscotch or girls jumping rope instead of pretending they're boxing fans ..... what an insult.
I see what you mean but I think Floyd Jr. and Roger just click. Roger may not be the greatest trainer but that's who Floyd likes in his corner and obviously likes him as his trainer because Floyd could hire any trainer he wanted. A boxer and trainer must be on the same page otherwise it doesn't work, no matter how great the trainer is.
Just look at Emanuel Steward and Jermain Taylor. Emanuel is regarded as one of the best trainers in the game and he and Taylor just didn't click and their partnership was short lived.
Mature and intelligent reply, thanks i can see it now
He's not bad but he's hardly great either. How many world class boxers aside from his nephew has he trained? Even Roger himself admits that he didn't make Floyd, Floyd's father did, which is what Floyd says too. He still has enough arrogance to put down the likes of Eddie Futch and Angelo Dundee.

Nazim doesn't think so.
Listen to the post-fight comments part#1 ... where Nazim stated how he felt.
Or was Nazim lying to the public just for show:grumble:???

I agree with you that Roger doesn't give great advice in the corners. However, I think that works well for Floyd Jr. Floyd Jr. obviously doesn't want/need a trainer that's overly strategic and vocal (could you imagine floyd trying to take orders from sergio martinez's trainer? lol) or he'd have his father in the corner again.
Roger, Floyd Sr. and Floyd Jr. are all under the impression that Floyd knows everything there is to know about boxing. His 41-0 pro record and 84-5 amateur record kind of confirm that.
All Floyd needs in the corner is a team to keep him calm and reassure him. He has that in Roger and Ellerbe.

Because Floyd was born knowing how to fight. Roger Mayweather being in his corner since he was 16 or so has nothing to do with it.
There's not much to say when you're winning. I did hear Roger tell floyd to keep feinting Mosely. That was intended to make mosely tired. looks like it worked
True. I mean...he must be sh*t. Look at Floyd's record and all.
