Yall seen the gif posted. Look at how Floyd doesn't react at all after the first shot Mosley throws low. He doesn't roll his shoulder to the left or motion with his head in any way to get away from the right coming immediately after it.
Conclusion: He wasn't expecting it.
He didn't get hit from being too slow or needing to get warmed up in the fight to time Sugar. Shane just snuck a crafty 1-2 in there that Jr. didn't anticipate. You could say that's more to do with Shane, but with Floyd's level of aptitude for D, he should've been embarrassed to get caught like that. He was lax on the guard there.
that also was the same combo they showed shane doing over & over again on 24/7. It also was the combo I said should do the job but he shouldve put that left hook with it.
No mistake. Shane just had perfect timing on both. It was early in the fight.
He woke up the "sleeping giant" or in this case "dragon" though.
Floyd grew fangs, a tail, and tore through the old fighter.
A few points I haven't read in the previous posts is this:
Both Mosley and Floyd had a lot of nervous tension in the earlier rounds. Mosley landed that shot because Floyd was still figuring out how Mosley's shots would be coming at him during the fight. {He doesn't watch tape} He has to see\experience this during the fight. And when it happened, it happened fast - so Floyd wasn't expecting it to come from that angle and got caught.
The second blow by Mosley came from a blind spot {Behind the ear} and totally caught him off-guard because he had thrown a hook before it came.
Nazim summed it up nicely post-fight - "Floyd didn't put himself in a position to get caught like that again." Nazim also stated: "The window wouldn't be open long with Floyd" That's why he was imploring Mosley to change up his tactics - Because Floyd had already made the adjustment to the shots Mosley would throw to hurt him.
And this was something to witness - instant On-The-Fly adjustments !!!!!!!
Floyd got caught with the right hand because mosley set up the right hand. in the first round, mosley was jabbing floyd hard to the body. obviously floyd didn't like it so he lowered his guard to defense against the hard jab to the body. That's the perfect time to come with the right over the top.
it was a perfect set up, but mosley didn't know how he did it the first time. he abandoned the hard jab to the body, went back to a flickering jab and got countered. then he just gave up on the jab all together.
I would Green you for this but I gotta spead it around some more before I can Green you again.

THAT is the Pullcounter that I know. GREAT post potna. :boxing:
That surprised me and it worked really well for him. Merchant tried to bring it up but he called Floyd mosley when he was referring to mayweather's "peak a boo style" and Steward either didnt catch his slip or ignored it and started talking about something else.
I was really impressed by seeing him use a defensive style that Ive never seen him use before all of a sudden in perhaps the biggest fight of his career and to see it work so well.
he used it to square up with mosely since he didnt want to back down. just shows u his vesatility.
Floyd using the high guard for parts of the fight was perfect also. We all know how Mosley struggled with Winky's style!

he got hit good twice in that round. He didnt the rest of the night. He also protected himself well when he was hurt and by the end of the round he was backing up mosley and had his balance back. Mosley hits harder than Pac punch for punch, Pac is going to need more than one or two punches to stop mayweather and he is never going to get more than that one or two.
hewasnt expecting the punch. he saw it at the end, but he def saw it too late. furthermore, mosely was able to get away with it because of his size and speed advantage. just the perfect storm rite there. thats all there is to it.
floyd adjusts so well tho that he negated that immediately.
floyd did make an adjustment, but you have to consider that mosley stopped throwing the strong jab. he started throwing a weak jab. the right hand that almost dropped floyd was set up with the strong jab. when mosley forgot to throw the strong jab and just started throwing the week jab and looking for the big right hand, floyd was able to counter him.

And for those that think Mosley just needed to keep at Jr. with the same tactic. Check out Floyd's adjustment. My post here.

that's the sweet science right there

I don't take that away from Shane, but Floyd was still hit from being lax.

You are correct in the fact that Floyd mad a mistake. Did you guys see floyd between rounds 2 and 3 sitting on the stool looking past and around Roger to see the Jumbo Tron of the punch so he could see where he made a mistake at. Watch the video again he wasn't even paying attention to Roger. He was trying to see what he did wrong so that he can fix it and fix it he did.
mosley is the only guy at ww that is talented and rangy enough to land that shot.....mayweather made the adjustment by giving mosley different looks defensively (high guard, philly shell, and no hands up). mayweather never put himself in the position to get caught again like that.
I see your point, but Mayweather adjusted his distance so that Mosely was always out of range. Mayweather made a smart decision when he kept him at a jab's length. It was over after that...because Mayweather Jab was spuratic enough (sp) and then set up with his own straight. Mosely couldn't get anything off after that because the jab (timing) confused him.
