I think Adamek is great for the heavyweight division. He is smaller, but is very quick for 200+. Him and Haye have been good for the division, but I think Adamek coming in shortly after Haye has been the icing on the cake for me. I'm now really interested in this division. I think the heavies may be going thru a bit of a renaissance. Look at all these names:
W. Klitschko
V. Klitschko
T. Adamek
D. Haye
C. Arreola
N. Valuev
E. Chambers.
A. Povetkin
R. Chagaev
Now I'm not saying this is a GREAT division, but those are 9 very talented, big name fighters( I know Valuev is awful to watch, but he is a not an easy guy to beat. Chagaev also I realize has really fallen off, but he is worth mentioning). Some are not as exciting as we'd like, but I can think of quite a few divisions that are thinner than that. And I think Adamek adds a new, exciting piece to that puzzle. Thoughts, comments, criticisms always welcome
I don't remember where I read this but I read that Emanuel Stewards thinks that Robert Helenius is a serious threat in the Heavyweight division to Wlad.
The problem is I don't think ANY of them can beat the Klitschkos. If the Klitschkos won't fight each other, we need someone who can beat them. Otherwise we will be excited about a bunch of guys clearly below the top of the division.
agree.....HW division needs a Tyson type figure to start tearing through the ranks all the way to the top..........
Maybe Haye can beat one of them..........
Tua vs. a Klitschko
I think this fight will be made with Vitali. If not, Wlad should fight him after Haye. If Tua wins another one or two fights this year, there can be no excuses for not giving him a shot.
No, he didnt make me more interested in the division and I'll tell you why.
While Adamek did great, i really have no interest in seeing him fight either of the Big brothers because i dont want to see the guy get his ass kicked by them.
if anything he further hurt the division in my eyes because he basically embarrased one of the Bigger Punchers in the division and moved him out of the picture even further after his one sided loss to Vitali.
I feel nobody can compete with Wlad or Vitali and the only way they are losing is if some hard punching fighter Catches them with a huge shot and even thats unlikely with these guys (with the exception of Haye because of the speed).
So eliminating one of the Hardest punchers in the division just leaves me with even less hope for these big dudes to be beat.
We either need a freakish smaller man like a Tyson to come along, or a big, modern day heavyweight with all the tools. Because right now, no one is beating the Klitschkos unless they get very lucky, or one of the brothers gets injured.
This, exactly.
Yeah them 2 are making people believe that the heavyweight is about speed rather than size, I really like Haye but I do think the K bros are a step 2 far, i do want him to win though, i would say the HW is the 4th best at the moment, 1:WW 2.JW 3.SM, any dissagreements?
None of these guys would survive the 90's-00's Lennox era.
In no order:
1. Lennox
2. Bowe
3. Tyson
4. Holyfield
5. Foreman
6. Tommy Morrison
7. David Tua(This guy alone ko's 9 out of the top 10 Heavys)
8. Ray Mercer
9. Michael Moorer
10. Ike Ibeuci
Even the leftovers from this era were better than "Arreola" "Chambers" and the green Russian guys.
11. Briggs
12. Mcall
13. Puritty
14. Corrie Sanders
15. Maskaev
16 Rahman
17. Chris Byrd
18. Golota
19. Brewster
20. Ruiz
Its no small wonder how all 5 Klitschko losses occured in the SUPERIOR heavyweight era. They are beneficiaries of a garbage division, and its hard to give them any credit at all.
I've come to respect the Klitschkos but I don't think the heavyweights are any better until someone can beat them. I don't think Haye or Adamek can beat them. I'm interested in Povetkin but I don't think he can beat them either...
Well we saw what happened to Ibragimov, and he was a pretty good smaller heavyweight.

I like Adamek, but I much preferred his more aggressive style at CW.
Haye was much more fun to watch there as well.
Both are a shot in the arm to the division, but I can't say I'm crazy about their new safety first styles.
