I think it is a possibility.
Call me crazy, but i wouldnt put it past them to do it just to "force" manny into a fight with Floyd.
To me, Floyd is the best boxer of our generation, but you cant ignore the run Manny has been on.
Mayweather should be ranked #1

By this standard, the Mayweather-Mosley matchup should have rightfully defined The Ring Champion for the 147 division - but it won't, because The Ring contradicted their own usual standards by leapfrogging Pacquaio up to the #1 ranking over Mosley, without actually beating Mosley, who had been the previous #1
Pac has done enough to dislodge Mosley as the no 1 welterweight. Mosley had not fought in over 18 months.
Pac is the no 1, the only fight for the ring title should be fought between him and no 2 (now Mayweather)
Mayweather beating Mosley and Marquez since he retired is not enough to dislodge Pac from the no 1 p4p spot.
You know what, I don't think it's just Floyd's performance over Mosley as the reason why he should be ranked #1 P4P. It's his behavior and principles that he shows. Boycotting these sanctioning bodies has gained him a lot of points in my book. Pacquiao will pay the sanctioning fee for a title and he won't even stay in one division to defend it against all comers and he helped Sulimain create a catch weight belt. I'm so over him already. Drop him down to #2 and put Floyd at #1.
Bernard Hopkins beat a washed up Roy Jones and moved about 3-4 spots down in the rankings...Pac beat a washed up fighter in De La Hoya and was then considered #1 p4p...Floyd should be considered the #1 fighter because he has never lost a fight...in fact he only really struggled in 1 fight, and then came back and beat Castillo decisively...Pac has 3 losses, and 2 bouts even...struggled against JMM the first time, then rematched him to only look worse in the next fight...So to answer your question no they won't rank him #1
Does that also go for Calzaghe, if he was to come out of retirement ?

They should, Floyd the dragon is clearly the P4P #1 fighter in the world but Ring magazine won't do it though. Lets be serious there is no way Pac should be higher than him. Floyd just beat the #2 and #3 ranked P4P fighters in the world back to back how can he not be #1? I'll tell you this though, if they don't give him his just due and a fight does happen with him and Pac that will extra incentive for Floyd the dragon to start spitting those fireballs at pac as Naz would say lol.
your forgetting No. 2 was a LW that PBF fought at WW? all this should be settled in a fight that has to be made and has to happen, BRING IT! PAC-PBF!!
Who cares its mythical anyway, not genuine.
P4P may be mythical but Ring Magazine holds the credence of being genuine like their Ring Mag Belts, and I will loose all its credence it becomes a tool ....

No, I can't rememer a time when the ring downgraded a P4P number 1 after fighting top opposition. They did it with Jones because he wasn't fighting the best at the time.
Mayweather has fought Mosley, JMM, Hatton, De La Hoya, Baldomir
Pacquiao has fought Clottey, Cotto, Hatton, De La Hoya, Diaz
Both guys have fought the best in there past few fights (even if Diaz, JMM and Baldomir were seriously overmatched and seen as that before the fight) so I would probably put them joint first if I could, until one of them lost or they fought each other. It's a debate that won't be solved until they face each other or either one has a serious drop in competition.
Nah,it would be a knee jerk reaction if they did. Pac's earned the slot, and as good as Floyds win was,it doesnt have a bearing on these things. Its all about opinions of course, but the only way to settle or change the status quo is for them to fight. The money is right, they just gotta find a compromise on this testing issue now. IMO,whoever doesnt agree to meet half way between 14 and 24 days is the one that stops the fight from happening.thank you for expressing my opinion better than i can.
No. On what basis should he have over leaped Pac?

floyd dominated shane not just beaT him and your logic is stupid is not who beat who its style that makes a fightI see. lmao
Styles determine who should be number one p4p? - Why don't you stop sucking on Floyds little dickie bird. The only one using 'dumb logic' is you.
Pac and Floyd are 1 and 2, after last night, I don't care where people rank them anymore.
They are the two best fighters (P4P) period.
I hope they can agree to get it on.
I agree. they can share the top spot if that's possible. but one cannot be the undisputed #1 until they fight each other.
Justify it? Mosley brutally knocked out the top rated WW in Margarito. That makes Shane the man at welter, not to mention his long history of success in the division. Pacquiao fought a shot Cotto at 145 pounds, in his first fight at "welterweight" and he automatically gets the #1 spot. That's some real bullshit.Shot Cotto? Oh...lol.
I might be wrong with my timing but didn't Cotto beat Mosley then lose to Margarito and Margarito lost to Mosley making him #1?actually you're more than likely correct. I cannot keeps the dates straight in my head with all of the reading and watching that I do. lol.
please justify this. Pacquiao had just beaten Cotto who had beaten Shane. Yea, Shane beat up Margarito who knocked out Cotto but the key here is how they both did against the former number one welter - cotto.

Edit: Actually it was Pac's second fight at WW. You can't forget a weight drained Oscar.
