None of that hometown crap. You can call just about any fight that will go to the cards in a 8-4 7-5 affair to the house fighter. It's not even relevant I don't think that it's actually the right call, the fact that there's a slant present for the home guy is bugging me.
You fight in Atlantic City or wherever.. and you use judges from none of the respective countries. Fkin simple.
they didn't change that? that's so bullshit. everyone else is sacrificing their record and their comfort for the tourney and ward gets to stay home safe. i don't see why the promoters even agreed to that.
They agreed to that because Ward is an Olympic champion and because of his inexperience, they thought he'd be KOed by much more experienced fighters in the tournament. Lets be honest, what was the tournament design about when you put in 18 and 20 fight newbies against 30+ fights CHAMPIONS? It was all about making the champions look good, that was the plan. Be honest about it, the experience is all on the European side, apart from shot Taylor who was put there because he was soft enough. That's why Ward got that clause. Surprise, both Andres are world class and the experience wasn't enough for either Froch or Abraham or even the favorite, Kessler, get a W over those two. Taylor sucked but we expected that.
Good luck convincing Ward to abandon his deal after this:
I understand what you are saying but please don't compare real robberies like this one with Kessler-Froch which was a very close (and great) fight in which Kessler did that extra mile in the end.
Boxing needs to sort out the selection of judges, the judge that scored the fight 117-11 Kessler was the referee (the worst i have ever seen) that was involved in the Robin Reid-Sven Ottke robbery. Kessler and Ottke are/were Sauerland fighters.
I honestly don't agree that Ward should have all his fights at home.....who the fuk is he to demand that type of stuff?

Either neutral ground or perhaps using more discretion in selection of judges but many of the fights have been close and people are giong complain either way.
If a promoter and a fighter build themselves as the bigger ticket seller, they deserve the home crowd.
I'm sick of fighters and promoters who don't spend any time or money building there fighters and there company as a ticket seller, yet bitch and complain when they get a bad decision.
It takes time and money to have something like that, if you don't sell tickets than why should anyone fight in your home town or a neutral arena?
At the gate. The crowds would be far less spectacular if say Ward had fought Kessler in New Jersey or someplace else.
OOOh boy. More hometown wins are a comin then. I'm forgetting about all the plane travel that would be involved from fans to support their fighter.
I didn't have a problem with home turf at first, but it is becoming too much an issue. The fights are almost determined by where they are held. Just pick one location and have all the fights held there, so there is no bias.
The only questionable decision was Froch-Dirrell and that deserved to be a draw because neither deserved to win.
If they really wanted to change it, so it were neutral.
They should just have all the fights in Canada, it's a neutral site that embraces boxing. The Super 6 tourney would have gotten a good reception up there.
