Hey guys,
Just got done watching the fight and I don't think the fight was as close as the commentary was leading us to believe.
If you take the judging criteria:
Clean Punching (25%)
Effective Aggression (25%)
Ring Generalship (25%)
Defense (25%)
I believe that Kessler clearly won 8 rounds.
Not a flame thread at all.
If you think Froch won, I'd like to hear your argument for him winning 7 rounds. I just simply couldn't find more than 4 to give him.
7-5 Kessler or a draw. Froch didn't win IMO, perhaps because outside of the 5th all of "his" rounds were close and hard to score whereas Kessler's rounds were easy to score (6-7-8 especially)
Dude.... 3,4,5 were easy Froch rounds. 1,2 were either drawn or Froch rounds. KEssler landed about 2 jabs and a couple of body shots.... I failed to see much from Kessler at all in those rounds for him. (granted not much from Froch either but IMO more.. came forward with hooks and right hands to the head).
6,7 were closer than 4 and 5.... but sure, still KEssler.
8 was clear Kessler.
9,10,11... I mean come on Froch was just outboxing Kessler, making him miss and landing big shots to Kessler's dome. Especially 10 and 11 in which Froch looked like Pernell.
12 is dead even. Kessler with alot of ineffective Calzaghing for a bit. Then Froch beats Kessler around the ring with 5 big shots for 30 secs then Kessler rallies for the last 10. Got to be even.
7-5 Kessler or a draw. Froch didn't win IMO, perhaps because outside of the 5th all of "his" rounds were close and hard to score whereas Kessler's rounds were easy to score (6-7-8 especially)

kessler attacked abit more then froch...fight was close but kessler won the belt fair and square
Very close fight think I would have gone for Kessler very narrowly, but don't think he did enough to be able to win the belt, if you are scoring the close rounds to the champion then Froch would have got a draw at least. But saying that if none had a belt, and your not giving close rounds to champion Kessler would have won by two rounds.
Don't know what too tell you I thought Froch clearly won 8 rounds with clean punching, counters, and just touching him with that jab all night.
Since when are the scoring criteria measured equally anyway? its all about clean punches really, defense on its own gets nothing from me in terms of scoring.
Eight rounds, Spray?!
Tell me which. I've watched the fight again and I have trouble finding a 5th to give him.
I thought Kessler was more active, moved better, and landed more frequently
I had it 116-112 for Kessler. Those close rounds were haaaard hard to score, but i thought with Kessler being the busier guy and neither of them landing anything significant that he had earned those rounds.
finally got a chance to score this fight. i ended up with a draw 114-114.
i had froch winning the early rounds with his jab and landing some big hooks and a couple right hands. kessler caught up in the middle rounds with some good body work while froch lowered his punch output. the last 3 rounds were really close but i gave kessler the last 2 rounds.
I had it a draw and thought it would go to Kessler just because it was in Denmark. aside from rounds 7 and 8, Froch landed all the flashier punches, but Kessler put in good work and was consistent all three minutes
Had it a draw.
IO thought the fight could have gone either way,7 to 5.
116-112 and 117-111 is to wide for me.
That ^
I scored it a draw earlier on, a lot of rounds were very close, so it could have gone either way if you scored a few of those rounds differently.
I'd definitely love to see the punch stats. Although I think they would back Kessler.
I'm not a Froch hater. He definitely gained some major respect from me tonight. Proved he can hang in there with the A listers in boxing.
Cleaner Punches= Froch
Ring generalship = Kessler
Agression Kessler = Kessler
Defense = Froch
Froch landed more jabs and I will be surprised if the punch stats did not back froch
If the fight was in a neutral place or in england, froch would have won, he was edging some of the rounds that kessler got, a lot of them were 50-50 rounds or rounds that froch clearly won.
I aint begruding kessler winning, I had the fight a draw, it was that close but I do think people are getting hate in the way of not giving froch his respect and the fact they cant admit he possibly won the fight but lost it on the judges.
but you know froch only has himself to blame, he could have won that fight decisvely, in 3 rounds he really put the accelaration peddal and dominated those 3 rounds but then backed off.
Like I said the punch stats will be interesting.
Im a froch fan, I thought kessler won by 2 rounds, 7 rounds to 5 is fair. I think the judge who scored it 117-111 must have filled in the scorecard before the fight started
Kessler won it and i like Froch. Kessler was the aggressor and throwing more... Those who think Froch won are being biased. He defiantly didn't win more then 7 rounds
