From Dan Rafael's chat today (and still ongoing)...

Kent (St Catharines): I love HBO's 24/7 series but can no longer watch Mayweather/Mosley as Mayweather has completely soured the experience with his tired old act and mouth.
Dan Rafael (12:28 PM): I agree. I have barely watched this series because of what comes out of Mayweather's mouth. I'm just tired of the same old, same old.

Floyd actually makes 24/7 entertaining even if his trash talking humor is hit and miss. For a guy who is on his 4th outing on the show, they never seem to run out of storylines on him to explore although the bit about the bodyguards was boring. I'd rather see a 24/7 with him on it than Pacquiao who is only slightly more interesting on TV than drying paint. I mean you know it's bad they have to rely on Freddie Roach for all the trash talking and take time to talk about the one eyed guy who sprays disinfectant on the punching bags.
Whether people like it or not, trash talk sells. Its no coincidence that Muhammad Ali is the most famous and well-known boxer in history. People who have never seen him fight know who Ali is. Its also no coincidence that every sports fan over the age of 30 knows who Howard Cosell is. Most probably cringe at the sound of his name, but they know who he is. In other sports, the best and most attractive games have been between teams that did not like each other. One that immediately comes to mind is Chicago Bulls/Detroit Pistons Eastern Conference Championship series in 1990(?) (the year the bulls won their first NBA championship. Trash talk sells. Professional Wrestling figured this out 60 years ago.
To me it is nothing more than a paid advertisement saying whatever they can to sell you the fight, A hypejob, they will make every match sound like the Thrilla in Manila even if is not a competitive matchup. Anyways most of us that follow boxing closely, already know about the boxers. We don't need a reality(term loosely used) show.
I agree with you. However, the idea behind the show is to sell the fight. Selling the Superbowl or the World Series is easy since they appear on network television. However, since boxing doesn't, this is the best available way to sell big fights. Unfortunately, Mayweather is the only active boxer who can truly make a 24-7 show worthwhile. The ones featuring Oscar/Pacquaio, Pacquaio/Hatton and Pacquaio/Cotto and Jones/Calzaghe all sucked. The preview show for Pacquaio/Clottey also sucked. The only interesting 24/7 shows so far have all featured Mayweather.
I am a Mayweather fan, but I admit that is not a good thing, but unfortunately it is true.
someone at ESPN needs to wake the hell up
and fire this clown already, hes a walking contradiction
... cant believe he actually gets payed for his crappy opinion
I have always said .. Floyd > Pac in 24/7 .... But the Mosley/Mayweather 24/7 is showing less training then the previous 24/7.... The shit talking cool and all but I want to see more Pad work, and sparring...
Agreed but i think this fight is too important for both fighters and they are too paronoid to want to display anything much in training for fear that the other camp can and will use it strategically. As crazy as it sounds pad work, lifting, heavy bag sit ups included lol.
lol, here's another one from fat Dan...
Dan Rafael (2:42 PM): "Who R U Picking is maybe the worst ppv title ever for a big fight."
Just one of many cheap shots thrown by Dan Rafael. I think he is correct, but, in spite of the terrible title, it will still sell more PPVs than any fight in recent history with the exception of De La Hoya/Mayweather.
i remember reading him say the 1st fight he covered was in 2000.
i think the gatti-gameche fight in madison square garden.
i don't think he meant 2000 was when he first started watching boxing.
2000 was when he first started covering boxing for usa today.
I don't think so either, but I don't think he was a fan before that.
And this is from a certified Floyd hater, much respect for the unbiasness in this situation. How can anyone not like 24/7. Floyd is the one who makes the show what it is. Sure this time around Nazim is making it interesting too but thats what someone who is new, has knowledge and a story to be told will do. Just like what Nazim did when watching Floyd's fights is what most people would do if he was on the show as much as Floyd.
Someone needs to do a poll, who is worse and the bigger hater Dan Rafael or Ronnie Nathaniel.

Excellent question. I have never seen Nathanielz, but Rafael would take the prize if your question is related to size/bigger. You would have to watch The Biggest Loser to find people in this country who are bigger than Rafael. In terms of the intensity of their hatred, I would also guess Rafael. Nathanielz worships Pacquaio with much more intensity than he hates on Mayweather.

Its odd, however, that Rafael doesn't have any problems writing columns about fights or events he has never seen.
Dont mind the shit talking..
I want to see more sparring in 24/7 though..

Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Rafael hasn't even followed boxing for that long. I remember seeing some interview where the first fight he went to was a Gatti fight, and hadn't really watched before that. And I believe it was around 2000 or something.
I've been following boxing longer than the other Dan. And I'm much younger.
Rafael should worry about getting a gym membership before he starts worrying about what boxers are saying.
I saw this guy at Alexander-Urango and he's ever fatter in person than on TV. He is extremely obese and needs to take care of himself.
damn I almost forgot about that...gotta admit that's the truth. I rather hear floyd trash talking all day long than watch another single slowmotion shot of cotto's half ton boyfriend skinny dipping with him and cannon balling into the pool. That shit was just gay.
How was it gay? They were just swimming and jumping into the pool

They never seem to run out of storylines? Its the same storyline with Floyd every time.....he talks shit, his opponent keeps silent...Floyd talks more shit ten bodyguards work out, then Floyd tallks more shit....no new storyline here
I've said it before and i'll say it again;
The low point of 24/7 had to be seeing Cotto swim with his 400 lbs boyfriend & Pacquiao dressed up in red spandex.
I'm not hating, i'm just speaking the truth.

I'm tired of Dan Rafael's nonsenses and cocksucking mouth. STFU you morbidly obese pussy who fukks with little children.
Dan Rafael = Pedophile.
:lol1: :lol1: ...wheres the pedophile shit come from?
