To answer your question OP it was against Roy Jones, the second fight right before the 2nd rd ko.
Tarver was extremely timid in the first rd with Roy simply picking his shots.
In the corner between rounds, Tarver's trainer buddy mckirt said you're showing him too much respect. And tarver angrily replied it ain't no ****ing respect (buddy later admitted during the Countdown to jones-tarver 3 that he
Knew that would get under tarver's skin). Must have worked because the next round Tarver knocked Roy Jones out.

Speaking of which, and I'm sure that's why you asked this question, what was Pavlik's corner responding to when they were telling him "Don't say that."? I couldn't make it out.
I think Kellys says he can't get off.
His corner says "don't say that" in between a few rounds.
Remember how Emmanuel Steward used to holler and scream at Jermaine Taylor every round lol.....it was hilarious
Jermiane would get a profane laced ear full and just say "yes sir" then proceed to go out and do the exact opposite of what steward told him to do.
I think Emmanuel Steward aged 20 years from training Taylor lol
I remember that from Jones-Tarver II. A trainer's yelling is usually very effective. Emmanuel Steward did a great job in Wlad's last fight. If not for that yelling, it would have ended in a boring decision.
Yeah it was right before he knocked him out.
that bastard Mcgirt knew how to hype up tarver for jones
i think tarver jones was the most exciting tarver ever was

Yeah, Lowe saying "Don't say that" just brough that incident to mind. From what I could decipher, it sounded like Pavlik he wanted to stop.
