That's what happens when you abuse your body. Pavlik is an alcoholic. Hatton is an alcoholic. You can't be in Boxing and abuse your body like that.
Boxing is a dangerous sport and it requires a lot of mental and physical discipline.
Look at Floyd. He doesn't drink, smoke or get high. Neither do Bernard Hopkins, Amir Khan, Andre Ward, and Shane Mosley. Neither did Muhammad Ali. I am sure you guys can name more fighters who stayed away from all the intoxication bullshit.
If Pavlik is serious about his Boxing career then he needs to change his life around basically otherwise RETIRE PAVLIK!
Valero is one exception but then again he is a psycho.
at the end of the day if its in moderation I don’t see the harm in a boxer having a few beers after a fight or when not in training.. and most of the boxers you listed do not drink because there Muslim not because there boxers
Lew Jenkins, Sonny Liston, Jake LaMotta & Roberto Duran were known to be heavy drinkers. A lot of really good Puerto Rican fighters were into drugs and alcohol. Carlos Monzon & Niccolino Locche were chain smokers.
Some fighters can pull it off, but of course in large part it's better to be clean or do these things only in small amounts.

Manny, many fighters in history have both drank and smoked. All time greats like Barney Ross and Carlos Monzon, just to name a couple.
You could Martinez to that list. I checked out the interview he did with ESPN deportes yesterday and he says he doesn't drink alcohol.
Nice. Any other fighters that don't drink?
Why does the TS or anyone else in this thread care what a boxer does in their personal life. I don't think Beer effected Pavlik or Hatton in their career, but a lack of overall skill did. Julio Ceasar Chavez was a big drinker but he knew when to turn it off and is a first ballot HOF.
The question is how does a boxer drinking effect you in anyway?
Alcohol lowers your testosterone. Alcohol slows your reflexes down. Alcohol is a drug and you can get addicted to it.
Whatever if some fighters want to drink, that's their business but I hope they understand that to get to a greater level and to win fights, you have to sacrifice a lot in this sport.... There is no glory without sacrifice.
If you really think that Mayweather doesnt drink or smoke every once in a while youre retarded... Pavlik is no alcoholic, and Hatton's parents owned a pub, doesnt mean he's an alcoholic buddy.Oh for fcuk sake ...i have been to after dinner speaches where at the end of the night Hatton has had a job to walk back to his car without being helped.....the fella loves a piss up !
and thats whats fcuked him !

Video Trading Block is your friend. Watch the embarrassing beating Pavlik took from a 45 year old. And watch the demolitions that Hatton has suffered in the last few fights.
I think their beatings were a result of their boxing skills rather then their alcohol tendencies.

Speaking of who drinks...
I think I read somewhere that you said you were going to see Arreola this past Saturday or am I mistaken?
If you did see him, how good of a shape is he in? I heard he is around 230 but I don't know how true that rumor is...
Boxing is a sport filled with average men, in terms of their upbringing. They come from all different backgrounds and financial situations. The diversity provides storylines and interesting characters.
I wouldn't have it any other way.

Lol Mayorga was an everythingholic..
lol yeah and hes still at it, did you see the press conference for his mma fight? he lit a smoke and blew it in buddies face.
Dude is hanging out with 50 cent all the time, how do you know Floyds not getting high? :pat:
People who usually tend to hang out with druggies, do drugs aswell!
50 doesn't smoke, atleast that is what he said, although he made a song called "I get high all the time" something like that.
