Good win over edison miranda and the rematch against andrade. That being said i still haven't forgiven the gift win after being clearly ko'd at the end of the first andrade fight and i would like to see what he could do against a true boxer and tactician such as an andre ward.
Ive actualyl been sold on Bute for a while now. His biggest problem is that sometimes he 'lapses', and he could probably get caught during that time. but he is very quick and has nice boxing ability as well. He needs some more refining, more particularly in is defense and poise in the ring, but he has some dangerous tools in his arsenal.
people talk as if he beat 'nobodies', but lets face it...he beat Miranda more impressively than anyone. he beat Andrade more impressively than Kessler. he beat Sakio Bika more impressively than Joe Calzaghe.
its worth bragging about, even if there are unanswered questions about him when it comes to different styles.
I would be extremely interested in seeing him fight Kessler.
Kessler is going to be a nobody after the tourney is over. Bute will fight the best which is either Ward or Dirrell. The Europeans are stinking up the tourney. The Americans are a class above the Europeans in the super 6 tourney.
Andrade had never been ko'ed and he faced Kessler, Mack, Steiglitz.
He wasn't the greatest but he was the one touted to have an iron chin and Bute one shot made him quit.
Then Bute does it with one shot again, and Abraham couldn't do it, nor Ward with Miranda.
The problem is we won't know how good he is, because of the super six but I think he rates with any of them.
True, till then, Froch, Ward and Dirrell > Bute.
Bute shouldn't be ranked above those guys. They got wins to back it up.

And yes, i know it was the body shot that eventually ended that fight but my point remains the same.
I agree. What Lucian Bute has done over the last two years is the equivalent of winning the NIT Tournament (American basketball fans will know what I am talking about). He is beating second-tier fighters. Winning the NIT (second-tier) tournament does not mean that you would win the NCAA Champtionship (first tier), It simply means that you have proven that you belong in the NCAA tournament. In other words, don't look at what he has done against second-tier opponents Miranda, Zuniga and Andrade and use that to justify a claim that he would beat a first tier opponent like Pavlik.
His last two fights have been excellent.
I mean Kessler hit Andrade with everything and couldn't dent him.
Bute did the one shot thing twice in a row.
I actually thought Andrade was a live dog after the first fight but Bute was too much.
He's really sitting down on his shots nowadays.
He's had two impressive ko's in a row.
I agree partially because there are too many other good fighters at 168 for him to be able to make the claim that he's the best. The person with the most W's in the tourney would automatically have a better resume than Bute.
Miranda and Andrade are both knockouts waiting to happen. Andrade doesn't like to block punches because of nerveproblems with his arms and everyone knows that miranda is a wild, power punching, undiscipline fighter. The only reason Ward didn't try to knock him out is because it was his first step up fight. i can't believe thay were making comparisons of the two fights. Besides what in the hell had Miranda done to even deserve to be in this fight. I tell yall this," I can't wait till the Super Six is over so that we can see what Bute is really about with a live opponent." It' easy to reign over the rest of the division when the rest of the big dogs rest tied up in the tournament. Lets see if he and Pascal ever tie up. I bet Pascal will get that ass.
His best wins of late has been against Andrade and Miranda. Solid wins but Miranda has been knocked out before by other fighters, so I hope people don't fall into that bandwagon again when Abraham knocked out Taylor everybody thought he was the best at the super six. Then he gets schooled by Dirrell. Bute for me is good, but I am not completely convinced either. A fight will Hopkins will be good for him though.
As far as the first fight against Andrade, i think the rematch cleared up who the better fighter was. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought Andrade could get KO'd, Kessler beat the shit out of him and he didn't blink.
Bute deserves respect, he went from being a protected fighter in Canada to becoming a champion that fights challenging opposition. What more can you ask for?
Fights against Dirrel, Ward and Abraham would really test Bute. I think he beats Taylor, Froch. I think he beats Green 99 times out of 100.
Everyone else is in the super 6.
Why not have some hype for ko'ing two guys one nobody ever ko'ed before (Andrade)and the other (Miranda), no one ko'ed better or faster.
It's not like he's a bad fighter or anything.
I didn't say he wasn't good, he is good but Andrade and Miranda? Come on.
I've been touting Bute since his win over Bika, where he handled Sakio better than Calzaghe did. I was saying it Bute was the best super middleweight when people were saying Kessler.
I feel for Andrade because he really did stop Bute, but even with that loss Bute is the best 168 pounders and that fight only made him better.
Bute has found something with his counter left uppercut. That punch is gonna be poison for pretty much every orthodox fighter he faces.
quick stoppage
Miranda was trembling after Bute landed that shot, he wanted no more. He didn't even complain about your so called quick stoppage. Because he was seriously ****ing hurt. What quick-stoppage are you talking about crackman? Hbo didn't mention anything about it, Miranda wasn't mad about the ref stopping it either. :pat:
Yeah one punch ko's aren't really that impressive. LOL.I mean as a whole body of work. C thats the issue with some fight fans they get too rah- rah over the last thing a fighter does and doesn't look at the fighter himself.
