Would a win over Mosley be enough to put Mayweather ahead of Pac?

Because to be number 1 pound 4 pound or in your weight class, you should be fighting the best, and Manny wasnt even the number 1 at welterweight and he was fighting number 5 at welterweight, Joshua "punching bag" Clottey... Mayweather Jr. is number 3 and hes taking on the number 1 fighter in his weight class, WBA Champion number 1 ranked Welterweight Shane Mosley... Plus, Mayweather Jr. was ranked number 1 P4P before he retired and that is the only reason Manny Pacquiao is ranked number 1 P4P I think Floyd fellow American boxer writers who voted Pac Fighter of the decade instead of him may have another opinion in this matter.:ugh:

Having thought about this recently, I think it depends on the manner of Floyd's victory. Pacquiao's best opponent, the opponent that solidified his status as no. 1 was Cotto but it was the manner of victory more than anything. If Floyd is able to beat Mosley conclusively, then perhaps. It really comes down to this; do you rate Floyd or Pac as the better fighter, as number 1? That's what it comes down to. Who is the best fighter in the world?

The first thing to remember is that the P4p rankings are just plain BS, completely based on speculation, so there is no real substance to it. If there's any justice then you would think that the number one spot is manny's to lose and that no matter what Floyd does to Mosley then he won't be number one. Out of curiousity......if Mosely was to win, where do you think he would rise to? And where would Floyd fall to?

there is no question about it Mosley is no1 at WW but that does not instantly mean floyd should over take Manny p4p wise if he wins for me it depends on performance and even with a great performance and a win by Mayweather there will still be arguments either way. Personally if Mayweather beats Mosley in impressive fashion I would have him as the no1 p4p fighter

#1 WW is Manny Pacquiao. Even if Floyd completely dominates Shane, he still wont be ahead of Manny. He has to win 2-3 fights in impressive fashion for that to happen...or just beat Manny (which is very unlikely)

A win over Mosley is huge, but i dont know if that outweights the fact that manny pacquiao won the Juniour Welterweight ring championship in such dramatic fashion before stepping up in weight and knocking out none other than miguel cotto. That left a big impression on me
