Mayeather is so adaptable he needed a rematch to figure out Castillo's style. Mayweather fans think the rematch erases the first fight, which he lost, because he re-matched Castillo, it does not work like that.
If you fight someone twice you WILL! have a much better idea of how to fight them and how to prepare for them, Mayweather got found out by a B class fighter and needed another crack at him to get it right because he could not figure him out first time.
Castillo is not a B level fighter, and shoulder or not mayweather lost that first fight, and he acknowledged it by agreeing to the rematch, and he did not adapt to castillo the second time he ran, and it was still 7-5 twice and even on the 3rd card.
Chico did cheat a bit to win. And the fact that he even faught guys like Casa and Johnston speak for itself. Pac would of never faught guys like that.
No response? Oh well. For anyone out there, is there any 130/135 pounder in the last 10 years who would indusputibly beat Chico, Casa, Johnston, and Mayweather?
So Castillo's fights with Johnston are close fights, one being a draw and the other being a controversial win, he has a controversial win over Casamayor and a glorious loss to Mayweather and got chinned by Chico, that about right?
Shows how overrated this cat really is eh?

All great fighters have had close fights. The difference is the only close fight Mayweather had was while he was injured. You can tell the smart haters from the dumb ones in the the smart ones will just insist Mayweather has never faught anyone, while the dumb ones will cling to the first Castillo fight as proof that Mayweather is a fraud.
TS clearly refuses to take on board others opinions' also why bring up Hatton anyway? What does an argument between who is better out of those 2 matter in relation to Mayweather, especially if you believe Hatton may be better...Mayweather beat them both and even KO'd an undefeated Hatton.
What's done is done, Mayweather has only 1 even slightly contraversial/arguable victory in his whole career yet people seem to cling to this and the fact he has been hit by a couple of southpaws he dominated when it comes to detracting from his ability.
How have i refused! to take on anyone else's opinion on board? all it comes down to is that no one has yet convinced me to change my opinion.
I dont really know who is better of out Hatton/Castillo but given that i think it could go one way and that i view them as the same caliber of fighters what with resume's/achievements etc, that is the only reason i brought that up.
yet people seem to cling to this
Its great to bring the flomo's back down to earth.
Of coarse they are Lol.
Kelly Pavlik is not an elite fighter Lmao, dont give me the BS about Taylor's wins over B Hop either, Hopkins himself was no longer elite when he beat Taylor imo, that is why he lost, if he had any where near close to his prime he would of been able to beat Taylor with ease, Hopkins has elite Boxing skills but what makes him NOT elite anymore is that fact his physical attributes of stamina, reflexes deteriorated a long time ago.
Castillo FOUGHT the top guys
I prolly prashed that wrong but what im getting at is, he beat Johston who whilst being a top guy in that particularly divison does not = capable of beating the elite, he got lucky against Casamayor imo.
No not just on his reign at LW no, i know he would plough threw Castillo like wet paper though. Quick question for you, Have you ever laced up a pair and got in a ring yourself? I've noticed people on here that fought or trained have a lot more respect for the sport.
Floyd lost the first fight hands down. Castillo was A class in his (short) prime though. Castillo outboxed the supposed pure boxer mayweather. No disrespect...but you have the worst list of favorite boxers I've ever seen my friend.
Ray Mancini
Alex Arguello
Julio Cesar Chavez
Roberto Duran
Pernell Whitaker
Shane Mosley
I would not pick Castillo to beat ANY of the above. wow.. that's like comparing david haye to Ali. You just can't do it, doesn't make him any less good. And I'm not a Haye fan
Jose Louis Castillo was an A-Class fighter in his prime. Thank you for pointing that out. He was also a Champion.. And so was Diego Corralez, Sharmba Mitchell, Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah, Oscar de La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Erik Morales, Marcos Barrera, and a slew of other fighters all these "Pound for Pound" kings claim to have on their resumes, but never fight the guy still in his prime or own his level. Boxing used to be the best. All the money made it soft. People forget about how boxing used to be, when even the soup can guys would probably give your current favorite fighter a run for his money.

I wish he would of fought him too instead of Sosa and Ndou. And, from everuthing I read Johnston really wanted that fight...
Do you have any insight on why Floyd didn't fight him?
None. I'd like to say he didn't want the fight. I really do. Because I can't figure out for the life of me why it didn't happen. Style-wise, Johnston would've been hell. And I'm sure after Castillo, Floyd was fully aware of this. Then again, it could've just been Arum being Arum. Johnston wasn't under his banner but Castillo was, which is probably the only reason that fight got made with Floyd. Who knows? But the one fighter from 130-135 that Floyd should've fought (who actually WANTED to fight Floyd too, unlike Casamayor and Freitas) was Lil' But Bad.
I think Johnston might've edged the second fight. Those two fights were really, really tough to score. Can't argue with anyone who had it going the other way. I REALLY wish Mayweather fought Johnston at 135.

I agree that Castillo in his prime was pretty damn good. An elite LW... I also agree that he was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Hatton.
But, I also think Stevie Johnston won both fights against Castillo.

First of all, I'm not sure what Hatton has to do with anything. WTF??? Regardless, I stand by my opinion.
Second, Castillo wasn't a big name but hardcore fans knew Floyd was in for a tough fight when they first met. Just watch his two fights with the underrated Stevie Johnston (no one talks about him on here I see). Those were two excellent, premiere fighters showing off great skill. Then followed it up with a win over Bazan and then gave Floyd all he could handle in two fights. Soundly drubbed a prime Lazcano and don't forget that Casamayor (a prime Joel!) was one hell of a fighter too! None of these fighters are huge names but in their primes, they were fukkin good. And Castillo has wins over them. Excellent in-fighter, solid jab, good power, steel chin, just an A-class fighter at 135 when he was at his peak.
