Yeah its pretty well documented, you should read the book called War, Baby: The glamour of Violence by Kevin Mitchell, he covers the whole thing
ok,thanks,ill check it out
what pisses me off to a point where my eyes start to tear is that some of you crticize the Wlad's, the Floyd's the B.Hop's and so forth for being safety first fighters.....yall paint such fighters ass boring or fighters that lack heart or courage......then when a fighter who gives you a war ends in the G-Man's state, all muhfukkas can say is thats a shame.....poor G-Man.....and shit of that nature!!.....change the way you look at the sport and know that these so called supermen are nothing but mortal human beings who have a family and life outside the sport......its unfair to criticise these athletes for looking out for their health.....appreciate the science of the sport and stop bitching if 2 dudes don't damage each others brain to a point of no return......if you wanna see a brawl, go start one and have someone record it......keep doing that over and over just to please a bunch of muhfukkas who'll just say, "thats a shame" if you're critically injured :nonono:
After the fight King had someone break into McClellan's hotel room and steal McClellan's copy of the contract. The original contract stated that McClellan was to be paid 450K, it was substituted with a contract paying him 75K
is there any proof of this?this whole tragedy gets dirtier and dirtier the more i look into it.i was watching the benn interview about McClellan, and i remember hearing that benn made 700k pounds for the fight and McClellan made a lot less.
first,i want to say McClellan was a true champion.like other people said, why wasnt the fight stopped earlier?people should take initiative and make a decision that could save someones life.the ref,the ringside doctor, anyone in the corner, hell even the judges, just to name a few, should step up and say something when there is obviously something wrong.he was spitting out his mouthpiece and there was obviously something wrong after a few rounds.sometimes people are afraid to say something and things like this happen (dlh vs. pac for example, the ringside doctor and the ref/commission/his corner asked dlh about 5 different times if he was sure he wanted to quit just because it was someone of dlhs magnitude in there they were afraid to just say,ok fights over).yes,i know he knew the risks, but like someone said in an earlier post,he wanted to stop fighting and his corner didnt let him.are there commissioners in the corner over in europe?i havent paid attention, but if someone said they wanted to quit in their corner here in the states, wouldnt you think the commissioner would at least let someone know in between rounds?sorry for the long post, but tragedies like this hit me hard thats all.
btw,did you guys know gerard jr. is a boxer also?
in fact some of you posters who live near him should get in touch and organise an online pay pal account and post an official donate thread here on NSB......i'll put up some cabbage to help his sisters out.
That would be amazing..
I live in Chicago..I have NO IDEA where Freeport is tho...but that idea is SICK..$10 or whatever per poster would be extremely generous to this man who gave his life to our SPORT!!
this is the downside of following the sport we love

very sad indeed,g man was a warrior,i feel for him and his family so much
**** me two times the fighter wanted to go and his corner let him stay, i feel so much more upset now
at least things have changed since then, there will be no chance a corner would tell a fighter to continue if their fighter said there was something wrong
Felt bad for the fallen G-man.
One question though, was Nigel Benn on some PED or something?
I mean coz i see Floyd's name and better testing mentioned. Why is that?
Sorry if i missed out on something...
Don't think he was. Just saying, in a sport where that sort of shit can happen, we need to make sure it doesn't happen, specially illegally. Better reffing, better testing, fewer rounds maybe... Everything possible.
The blood clot had started after round 2, McClellan had told his team that he wanted to stop fighting because he felt something was wrong, his team talked him into continuing. By round 6 he said he wanted to quit, because he knew something was seriously wrong, he trainer said to him "Go out there and die."
He was already injured before the fight as well, he had been complaining about headaches and naseua after the first Jackson fight
antoher fighter getting exploited........fuk i want to kill some of these cunts!!!!!!
On another note, for those fans who don't appreciate the boxing science and want to get Gatti-Ward type of fights every time, otherwise "it's boring", check the video out. Then go watch MMA because at least it's safer. The reason it's safer is very simple. Our brain is prepared to take on severe impacts for brief moments, and that's MMA. Boxing, on the other hand, is about continuously hitting the head and our brain isn't designed for that sort of trauma. IF Gatti or Ward has Benn's or McClellan's type of power, they would probably be seriously injured in any of their fights, the fights fans loved so much.
I dont give a toss what some idiot behind a computer says, Every fighter should fight for money if they wanted to and all fighters DO fight for money!!! Boxing is just too brutal sometimes and the consequences of when it goes wrong is just too sad to comprehend.
agreed.....thats why i like PBF...he is str8 up......"i fight for money"
every other fighter does too....floyd is the only one with balls enough to say it out loud!!!!!!!
Where did he get that injury from? Boxrec says he had a couple one rounders before the fight almost a full year before, certainly that couldn't be it right? Didn't they CAT scan fighters then?
i'm speculating..........it may have been a clot or somthing else that was there before the fight which the blunt force trauma exacerbated........
