I thought Ward was a Showtime fighter why is he listed in HBO's fighters? Did I miss something, when did Andre Ward get signed to HBO?

But then again they also have Vargas, Trinidad, De La Hoya, Calzaghe etc. Fighters that are retired. Also Gatti RIP, who is dead.
uh...dont you guys see Jermain Taylors name to the upper right of Winky? and Tarvers next to it. its just a list of all the fighters that have been on there I think
Found this on ESPN

Can you please answer this Dan. Doesn't Andre Ward still have 1 fight left on his initial HBO contract? If so, can HBO make him fight on there network any time they want? Even if they can't, can they make him fight on HBO after the Super 6 even if Showtime wants to lick him up? Technically he still owes HBO right?

I am not certain of this but I believe HBO, which did have another fight with Ward, long ago let him out of the obligation since it had nothing for him. I do not think that is in effect anymore. Even if it was, I would not think HBO could interfere with his existing agreement for the Super Six with Showtime. It's really a moot point.

He has fought on HBO before. If that means anything.
He was a Co-feature a few years ago.
Andre Ward signed a deal with HBO a long time ago and still has more fights with them. They just stopped picking up his fights while he was still green and he fought on Showtime instead. I'm sure after this Super Six tourney and Dre has gained exposure HBO will make him fulfill his contract by showing him on a card after.
He did, he fought as the co-headliner for Freitas-Raheem and he was on HBO un-televised under cards for Mayweather-Mitchell and Margarito-Williams.
Mystery solved.
I think some of us suspected that Ward might defect when he suddenly had an 'injury', but I thought he was still on board after the Green fight got re-scheduled.
Still he could have had a mega offer from HBO to fight Bute/Pavlik. Stranger things have happened.
Ward knows exactly what he can gain in recognition if he wins the tournament. HE won't pass that up unless something big happens... He's also perhaps the biggest draw in the tournament. Undefeated Olympic and WBA champion at 25 years of age. It's like a prime Floyd or Hoya, they will want to keep him. Of course that means the other dudes, including Dirrell, will have a much lesser chance to win. Specially when Ward signed to fight all his fights in his backyard. After seeing Froch-Dirrell, i can't exactly say I blame him although it is indeed not fair for the others. If they could, they all would sign the same clause.
HBO's boxing site is a joke. They never regularly update it.
I think a lot of you are jumping to conclusions about this. He most likely fought on HBO before and that's why they have him there. And as someone has mentioned before, they still have retired fighters on there. He did, he fought as the co-headliner for Freitas-Raheem and he was on HBO un-televised under cards for Mayweather-Mitchell and Margarito-Williams.

Wauw!
Does this mean that Ward is on his way out of the supersix??
i know you wish he did drop out the supersix though huh?... so you're boy Kessler wot have to take another beating later in the tourney
I don't think HBO signs fighters. Just fights. Am I correct? Andre Ward has fought under them before thus listed under them.
No Showtime does not sign fighters just fights. That is their motto is "great fights, no rights."
HBO sign fighters. Their motto is "we going to bendover backwards for Golden Boy and Al Haymon. And, give Golden Boy blind dares."
Showtime>HBO

it actually doesn't matter if he's "signed" with HBO... cause he could still fight in the supersix... if you're a fighter you can fight on any network you want
Seriously, has BPP said anything about this. I'm confused, i'm wondering if I missed something while on vacation for 3 weeks.
Does anyone know if Ward is out of the Super6 and is now an HBO fighter?
I mean this can't be a mistake.

Where's your thread bitching about Haye's fouls? Or do UK fighters get a pass? Especially if they're fouling an American?
Yeah those rabbit punches was bad.
