I think he'd be crazy to pursue that fight. He seems to be sensible by not challenging the Klitschko's saying their too big and powerful for him but would Haye be any different?
I think Hopkins would put up a good fight for a few rounds and make Haye miss and look a bit silly. But at some point he'll take one flush on the chin and it'll be all over - execution style.
Hopkins is 45 years old and has the workrate of a grandpa, he would look bloated gaining another 25lbs+, not to mention he would lose so much speed. Hopkins is DONE as a boxer, that's why he is fighting Roy Jones Jr. Hopkins cannot beat ANY of the top contenders in SMW or LHW, let alone at HW.
Seems like a good fight to me. Hopkins may be too old now though.
Hopkins has a damn good chin, but Haye's punches will go through that defence
Both have shit stamina so Hopkins may last 12
Haye would destroy him though
Haye actually goes for KO's when someone can be Ko'd or is really hurt
I don't think he ever wanted to fight Haye. I think it has more to do with getting crap off his back from ducking Dawson.
If the fight doesn't happen then it will kind of look like he used David Haye as an excuse to avoid Dawson like you are saying. But if Hopkins does fight Haye the haters couldn't say shit.

Haye sends him to the hospital.
very bad matchup for hopkins...very bad.
Hopkins can't beat Haye, and can you imagine the backlash Haye would get if he took that fight?
All he has to do is avoid those 8 punches a round Haye throws. Other then that he can just watch him back peddle for 12 rounds.
Are you dense?
i think he will reconsider it for sure
Haye shouldn't take it, he would get so much hate, of course if he doesnt take it he will be "ducking" hopkins.
If it did happen, Hopkins would be stretchered from the ring in the first 3 rounds.
Seems like a good fight to me. Hopkins may be too old now though.
Ruiz is nowhere near the talent of a Hopkins...Hopkins could make Haye look really bad in a fight..
i dont think Hopkins would fight Haye
Hell no. If Hopkins went into a time machine that brought him to his 30s then maybe this fight wouldn't look completely retarded...Hopkins would probably lose to Dawson, so how the heck would he be able to beat someone with that speed and skill, but deadly punching power and who would probably weigh 30lbs more than him on fight night?
I'D LOVE LOVE LOVE TO SEE HOPKINS LACE EM UP WITH HAYE. But there ain't enough time on Haye schedule ya kno? It's gonna go Haye vs. either Valuev or Klitschko cuz he has to face Valuev due to rematch clause, then which ever one he didn't face, and then a mandatory Chagaev due to WBA, and then maybe Hopkins. So Hopkins is 4th in line right now which means 2012 if Haye doesn't retire by then.
all I know is that I would bet REAL money on B.Hop if the fight happens....can you imagine the odds I'd get?!? :hitit:.....I'd bet a gang of bread that B.Hop schools Haye......considering I'd be a rich mofo afterwards, I'd probably buy NSB and put B.Hop's pics all over the forum :lol1:
finally a thread where haye is being respected as a fighter and not being hated on. i could only see a haye win, but haye would take the fight and make him-self better known in the u.s.
I don't think beating Ruiz is much of an accomplishment. Ruiz has lost to every good fighter he has faced. Roy Jones dominated Ruiz but in his next 4 fights Jones had 3 losses 2 by ko. Ruiz has lost 2 Valuev twice. I don't think some one beating Ruiz has a big impact on Hopkins decision to fight them.
no way hopkins beats haye , haye would be pushing hopkins back with every power punch he landed until he lands the big one to finish him off
Hopkins rarely gets hit solid, he's a great defense fighter, and would counter haye if he came in swinging....Haye should avoid hopkins...

Haye would KO Hopkins
