Everyone agrees he's shot and seemingly has no chance whatsoever in this fight. That being said and pretty much agreed to for the most part, what does a win for Jones mean for his legacy?
I'm strongly opposed to those who think a fighter can tarnish anything they did in the past by losing late in their career. What a fighter accomplishes can never be changed, no matter what happens after.
Yeah that dosen't make sense. If your beaten in your prime when you step up your competition it ruins your legacy but if you get beaten when your past your best how could that change what you were when you were on top? That makes no sense.
C'mon even reading in here you know people on this site think every breathe Jones takes in a ring is tarnishing his image at this point simply because he isn't the Prime Roy that was so good he didn't even have problems in the ring with brilliant fighters.

This fight dosen't do anything for either fighters legacy, it's purely personal. If Hopkins wins he beat a past prime Jones, So what? Green, Calzaghe, Johnson and Tarver already done that. If Jones wins good for him but he already beat Bernard when it mattered more. If this version of Jones beats Hopkins it just shows he always got Hopkins number.
If really hope Roy wins this for it is the ending his amazing career deserves but it would not prove anything we don't already know.
This fight doesn't effect either Roy or Hopkins legacy, win or lose.
Hopkins is 45, jones is 41.
If hopkins wins, he beat a shot roy.
If jones wins, he beat a 45 year old hopkins that finally got old.
However with a Jones win, one could make a stronger case that Jones would have always beat hopkins.
so if Roy wins it's only because nard suddenly fell off?
The only thing it does is get rid of that excuse that Hopkins was too inexperienced in the first fight.
For the past few years Hopkins has seemed to be the better fighter of the two, thus reversing circumstances of the first
for a rematch with Glen Johnson.
why so Roy can die?

nothing really because his legacy has already been sealed, you can tell by how everyone talks about the old school Jones, they rarely bring up his tough loses. Prime example people know Tommy Hearns fought past his prime WAY past his prime but when people talk about him they talk about what he did in the 80's
You do not lose legacy. Roy can lose by knockout 10 straight times and it wouldn't change a thing about what he accomplished.
If he beats Hopkins it shows that Bernard is really diminished, and Roy is a perfect foil for him.

Alot of really good points here most if which i agree with. fact is we have heard Jones is shot for so long and how Bernard is too good p4p wise to take this fight, I think a Jones win should at very least get him something even at this point. 45 or not Hopkins is ranked as of right now and is fighting a Jones that is perceived sometimes even legitimately to be well past it. Surely a win means something to adding to his legacy or atleast diminishing the notion that he is completely shot even at this point. If Hopkins sees even the version of Jones that fought Lacy he is gonna be in for a fight if Jones is even that fast on Saturday.
His legacy is already complete, this fight is meaningless. It's just 2 old guys fighting and the reason for it in my opinion is because Roy loves the sport and doesn't want to give it up yet, and Bernard wants to avenge a loss from decades ago.
Obviously people will go crazy if Roy wins but they should both retire as they have both had great careers and have lots of money and seem to be in good health still.

Jones has already cemented his legacy as the most dominating pound for pound fighter ever. The only man in 100 years to go from middle and win a heavyweight title. (In dominating fashion I might add) No other heavy accept for Tua has dominated Ruiz the way Jones did so to me Jones is the best fighter ruiz ever fought being that he outwayed him by 40 pounds and got owned. Everyone who fought Prime Jones got beat badley. Fighters that gave Bernard, and James Toney 12 round hard fights got KOd by Jones. Montell beat Toney twice. Jones 1 round KO of Montell told of his absolute dominance. Roy made every fighter, Bernard, Virgil Hill, John Ruiz and James included look like bums. And two of those guys are Hall of fame fighters. So of course if you werent hall of fame you were going to look like a straight bum.
those are some pretty good points
i say it would do very little. The only good thing i see out of it if he wins is that even though had a few setbacks and is not the same fighter he still can beat bernard hopkins. but how far will that go? not very. okay he beat a 45 year old hopkins. given that hopkins is still a good competitor at that age he's still the same either. i say hopkins has more to lose. he's in a lose lose situation. if he wins people say you fought a much older roy jones who is nothing like fighter that beat you 17 years earlier. if he loses they'll say he couldn't beat a roy jones that judging from his past performances is shot with his best years behind him. so this is a fight bernard hopkins has to win, not roy jones in my opinion. i hope roy wins because if he loses they might try to make it a trilogy. i don't think many fans would want to see that. it depends on how the rematch goes

Best case scenario: Jones wins tomorrow night in dominating fashion then avenges his loss against Green, then retires with his legacy intact..
Nobody can erase what has already been achieved.
