Doug Fisher said that junior welterweights were getting the best of Margarito in sparring sessions prior to the fight with Mosley... I don't think weight was the factor
btw Mosley using Librado Andrade as a sparring partner to prepare for Tony = brilliant
Wow is that right? If so that really is brilliant.
And I think Tony fighting at 154 is just due to him not fighting for a while and getting his body used to cutting weight like that gradually. It's the right thing to do.
And I've said it once and I'll say it again...I think on July 26th, 2008 Margarito and Cotto ended each others' careers at the elite level. Although with Margarito it may have been more of a gradual thing from all of his brutal fights.
Margarito was mentally ****ed when he stepped into the ring against shane. Not trying to discredit shane but how can you be right when you just got busted trying to commit the worst sin in boxing minutes earlier. again it wouldn't have mattered anyway who knows?
I think Margarito DID underestimate Mosley (who didn't?) and probably isn't even the same after that Cotto bout. He may have had trouble making weight (he's been a welter since he was 18) but no one forced him into the ring. No excuses. He got his a** royally whooped.[/QUOTE
obviously he didn't underestimated Mosley when he tried to fight mosley with bricks in his hands.
That's pure bs. If I remember correctly, Margarito weighed in 146 that night and Shane initially weighed in over at 148, but made 147 his second attempt. So if anyone had trouble making weight, it was Mosley and he still beat that ass.
Tony admitted making 147 was a problem for the Mosley fight.I dont know if he's using that as an excuse he lost but his body language gave me the impression he was weight drained.
Tony admitted he didn't cheat as well, which proves one thing. The guy is a flatout ****ing liar.
yeah and the damage from the cotto fight , even though it appeared not to effect him, it must have though. not discrediting Shane , I just personally think he has been praised to much for the win, either way it was a good win.
No it doesn't but I did think he was drained or something. He looked pale and didn't have that energy, and that was before taking punishment from Shane. I thought he looked a bit like Oscar, when he fought Manny.
Just wondering what people thought about this.
Burner, you should put a resume into star magazine or national enquirer. Show them your nsb posts and you are in there! Do you watch soap operas? Haha!
Margarito also took some damage in the cotto fight so i wouldnt actually point to the weight excuse, He wasnt having any trouble making weight according to what i read, But he came in to camp heavier than he normally does when not in camp.
I don't know, it's been a while since he last fought, so maybe his body can't make 147 as of now. But Mosley simply won, because of his style and game plan.

I don't think so. Having trouble making weight doesn't necessarily mean your drained.
I think him fighting at 154 is because of the long lay off. Cutting to 147 instantly might hurt him more than help him. So fighting 154 is probably just to get back into form.
When Marg fought Shane he could make 147. The reason of the drained rumors is that he came in at 145. Now right before stepping to the official scales they weight Margarito in a scale in the hotel room and he was a few pounds over. However, that scale was not accurate in reality Marg was at 147 but since the scale were not accurate they tried to sweat off pounds in a matter of hours. Thus him coming in at 145. He lost two extra pounds that he didn't have to lose. And, 147 was as low as he could get. So those is where the drained rumors come from. Also that he got fat after he found out he was not going to fight for the rest of 2008

Nah he just got his ass kicked and he had been fighting at that weight for years and he looked plenty strong for that fight. He just got outclassed is all.
