Dirrell confident of victory
"Abraham’s arms are too short!"
Andre Dirrell is supremely confident in advance of Saturday’s SUPER SIX clash against Arthur Abraham in Detroit. “Abraham’s arms are too short, he can’t box, I’ll hand him his first defeat,” proclaimed Dirrell to BILD. “The 20,000 fans at Joe Louis Arena will be pushing me, my 30-member family will b there, and the millions of TV sets will see me win. I’m fast as lightning, dance like Muhammad Ali and constantly change angles so I’ll confuse Abraham….On 24 April I’m getting married. My gift to her is Abraham’s head!”
I cannot remember Abraham fighting a guy who did not have longer reach.

This thread is a reach.
I used to think that dirrell would win a relatively comfortable decision but the more I think about it and the more of this rubbish I hear from dirrel the more a late AA KO seems likely. He'll look to walk dirrell down, keep him on edge and get a late KO when AD has tired.
I think Dirrell will win a decision but leave questions about his heart once again. He had only himself to blame for the loss to Froch - if he'd had the courage to engage a little more he'd have won comfortably. I expect Dirrell to land mainly on Abraham's gloves and avoid taking big shots all night long.
still, if he stays in the middle of the ring and throws 3s, 4s and 5s that just gives more openings for abraham to exchange. i think once abraham tastes dirrells power (especially if dirrell throws in combination) he'll be more willing to exchange. abraham can take dirrells punch, but dirrell cant take abraham's.
it'd be a nice strategy on dirrell's part but i just cant see him being a higher work rate guy. i think his best chance is to stay on the outside, in the orthodox stance and stay on his stick. he looked great vs froch when he was popping that jab. then for whatever reason he switched southpaw, where he doesnt jab at all.
IMO, if dirrell doesnt get caught, he could win this fight with his left hand only. jab and if abraham lunges at him, check hook spin out. repeat.
I pretty much agree with this.
Dirrell needs to keep it together down the stretch and not wear himself down by using too! much movement.
he will be tagging AA's gloves all night and will panic when he gets hit
As you saw with Pac-Clottey. If hes landind on gloves or not hes still scoring if AA isnt doing anything.
AA will have a hard time finding Dirrell and when AA Moves around thering his hands are down and Dirrell is fast enough to land flus and get out the way.
Dirrell has a 4 inch height and reach advantage. A will have his moments but Dirrell will be tagging him all night.
I have Dirrell winning assuming both fight the same, but Dirrell with that less running and holding.
However Abraham has decent timing and his guard is solid. His speed is not that slow TBH because he doesn't throw and get that tired.
I wouldn't be surprised if Dirrell does get countered hard at times, but I beelieve he will be much better VS fRoch and he is just too fast and agile for the beast.
It's a Leopard VS a Wilderbeast.
Wilderbeast have their moments VS gazelles, warthogs and cheetahs, but not a leopard.

his arms are too short? he cant box!? jesus after reading this ive realized dirrell is in for a serious shock on saturday night.lets see how well dirrell can 'box' when the bombs start landing

He has to stay in the middle of the ring more.
He shouldn't have to worry about trading with AA because of that peek a boo style.
And AA isn't as aggressive as Froch. AA is more plodding.
He waits for you to get tired.
There should also be less wrestling and fouling.

i dont think he'd be able to keep up that pace. he gassed in the froch fight just from running and wrestling. now you want to add a higher work rate to that?

Dirrell needs to pull a Manny vs Clottey.
He has to fire off 5 to 6 punch combos and get the hell out of there.
He needs double AA's output.
He has the youth speed and talent to pull it off.
Should be interesting.

they really gonna have 20,000 at the fight?
pretty impressive if its true.
as for abrahams arms, theyre not that short. theyre about average.
he wouldnt be able to perfect the peek-a-boo if he had short arms.
its his square stance that makes his reach seem shorter.
as for the fight, i cant see dirrell firing anything that would make abraham respect him.
