I think so.
Let's not forget that he was behind on the scorecards, against a prime-past Taylor.
Now, coming off an embarrassing loss to Dirrell, he should be lucky if he gets past the 6th round against Kessler.
He is exciting and comes to fight, I don't hear nobody overrating him, but he does continues to win. Again he is the underdog against Kessler so if he wins is he under-rated?
I agree, if he beats Kessler id say his resume would be better tha Clazaghe's (who im a big fan of). A win against Abraham would deffo sal the deal. 2 Tough fight though.
If Froch beats Kessler, i'll be going all out on him to beat Abraham. Abraham will most likely beat Froch, but as the old saying goes...''live by the sword....''
Funny that you find the Taylor win lucky. A fight last 12 rounds. Not 11½.
And calling the Direll fight a robbery is laughable. What would you then call Chavez-whitaker, Holmes-SpinksII etc.? It was a close fight but hardly a robbery.
Not sure i'd call Froch/Dirrell a robbery, but i did have Andre winning by 2 rounds. Some rounds were difficult to score, and punch stats obviously tell a different story......the main factor was Dirrell not wanting to fight. People may call it slick or whatever, but come on....i've seen more fight in Floyd, that's what a slick fighter is supposed to do.
A dramatic comeback win in the final 30 seconds of the fight, after being behind on the scorecards, isn't lucky?
Anyone who would consider Dirrell vs Froch a close fight doesn't know how to score a fight.
No. Boxing at this level last 12 full rounds. It's not like a cuts-stoppage while behind on points....
Graham Houston who's arguably the best boxing writer on the planet had Froch winning. He also said this about the so-called robbery:
In the Showtime coverage, which was my vehicle for viewing the fight, analyst Al Bernstein had Dirrell edging it but didn’t seem too sure. In the British broadcast, commentator John Rawling of the new PPV platform Primetime had Dirrell winning (I know this because he sent me an email to this effect after the fight), while I’m told that ex-fighter analyst Jon Thaxton also scored it for Dirrell while pundit Steve Bunce went for Froch.
That’s the sort of fight it was — open to interpretation.

I think he is a bit overrated but he knocked out Taylor, even though he was pretty close to losing somewhat decisively. And Dirrell didn't deserve the win, i think it should have been a draw, because Dirrell was clearly the better boxer, but he ran way too much. He made it such a brutal fight to watch. I had Froch winning half the rounds based on Dirrell not doing enough to win the round and him being the guy retreating/ on the run. Kessler won't do that, so I think he will either easily beat him or maybe Froch will KO him, though I don't think Carl is that great of a KO puncher, Taylor was the only one that impressed me, but Abraham kind of ruined that, since he did the same thing and actually beat him on the cards as well.
One of the most hated fighters on the forums. Not overrated.
He may have over-achieved, but due to a limited skill set, he still pulls out wins over impressive names.
If he beats Kessler, his resume surpasses Calzaghe's in my opinion. Then he'll face Abraham in what should be the biggest fight at 168 since Calzaghe/Kessler. Again, that's IF he beats Kessler.
Yep, If he beats Kessler especially by KO then i would definitely put him over Calzaghe..

The Pascal win is legit.
The Taylor win is still lucky. There was like.. what? 30 seconds left in the fight. If Taylor didn't gas out in the last 30 seconds, he wouldn't be the champion, anymore. And don't act like it was a prime Taylor that he fought.
Froch has a one legit win over prime fighter, a lucky win over past-prime fighter and a flat-out robbery of a win over a green Dirrell.. Kessler has been in more title fights and beaten more top 10 opposition than Froch has.

No.
Froch has a better resume than he is given credit for. Even though he was fortunate to get the decision against Dirrell, people seem to make excuses for his wins over Pascal and Taylor as if they somehow don't count.
Winning a fight due to toughness, aggression and determination is no less legit than winning a fight due to skills and talent. Froch beat Taylor and Pascal because he was the better fighter on the night. Some boxing fans seem to feel that if you are able to wear someone down and use your superior stamina than you're lucky, but if you win a fight due to your speed then you're not.
Look at it this way: Froch's best wins are better than Kessler's best wins, yet Froch is still the underdog for their fight despite Kessler coming off of a bad loss that might have taken something out of him. Doesn't seem to me as if Froch is being overrated.

Who do you rate over him?
He beat Dirrel, Taylor, Pascal (current Lhw champ now)
Ward has beat Kessler/Miranda
Abraham has beat Taylor
Dirrel has beat no one
Kessler lost his title and hasn't beat anyone for a while
Im not denying he is pretty limited but based on his last few fights he should be ranked fairly high at SMW, Bute also has done good of late.. but really i see no SMW with some amazing record right now.
Kessler was previously the #1. Due to the fact that he lost and Bute beat Andrade not long after, he should be at #3.
I wouldnt say he was over-rated as most British fans take him for what he is. A limited fighter skill / technique wise, but a big puncher, a fighter with big-heat (and as he holds his hands low and likes to come forward and fight) an exciting and good fighter. I think people right him off as his style isnt always pleasing on the eyes, but hes a tough fighter to beat.
Im a fan and looking at his record, unbeaten with wins against Pascal, Taylor and Dirrell looks good. Not to sure on the out-come of his Kessler fight though, tough one to call.
If anything, Froch is one of the most underrated fighters.
I tend to agree. Froch doesn't get enough credit for those wins. Reason being his obvious limitations and not-so-silky-smooth skills.
If anything, Froch is one of the most underrated fighters.
He doesn't even deserve his current rating.
Some people actually consider him to be a top 3 super middleweight. Terrible.
