Clottey and Cotto are two of the best welterweights in the division in there primes and both have good size. When you look at it Floyd has never beaten a true 147 pounder in there prime at all in this division, while Pac has already defeated two. If he beats either Floyd or Shane he would have basically cleaned out the division of the elite. Very impressive considering this is not his natural weight.
Hoya - 1st time at 147lbs for 7+ years
Cotto - pac/roach demanded catchweight of 145lbs
Clottey - no threat to pacquiao, mayweather or mosley
"Money" at 147 vs
Baldomir - slower than Clottey
Hatton - moved up a weight class and fought "Money" like hell for ten rounds, only to be knocked out cold in two by some other guy
JMM - was giving up two weight classes
No, he can't do the same.
He had a chance to make an even bigger impact when welterweight was the hottest division around.
Instead, he chose to let everyone else make great matchups while he sat on the sidelines.
He wasted his opportunity.
He could have taken Cottos 0 and been the first to stop him, but Tony did.
He could have beaten Margarito but Paul and Shane did instead.
He could have beaten Paul, but Carlos did.
He wasted a tremendous opportunity to make a huge statement to the history of boxing and his place in it.
But since he didn't, he cut himself short quite a few levels of the top tier.
OUCH!!!
I think I'll just sit this one out and hear what others reply to this.
This should be interesting and, at the very least, slightly comical.

It is amazing that Paq haters refuse to give him credit, and the only real reason they have is that they hate him.
Pacquiao is the best boxer in the past 10 years. Haters can hate all they wont. Pacquiao is cleaning out the welterweight division and he is making it look easy so far. His only two options left to me is Floyd and Mosley. Both would be challenges but both would be different challenges. Even tho its obvious Floyd is scared of Pacquiao, Pacquiao would have to hunt down Floyd who does throw a good counter right and has boxing skills. But Then again would floyd come to fight or come to just pit pat and run?????
Mosley would go toe to toe with Pacquiao and would be a HELL OF a fight that would be a Classic in my opinion.
True, but Floyd can do the same with a win over Mosley and Pacquiao, might as well add Berto in there.

to all flomos, peds or not.. do you think floyd can beat the pacquiao who fought last night?
coz if you think he can, there's no reason for ost. unless he is scared to lose.
YES, floyd can beat pacquiao. Just wait till May 2nd, se what everyone will be saying after mayweather dominated mosley.
Pac-May is a huge, huge event, lets hope it gets made.

Not giving Pac credit for the victory over Cotto because of a catchweight is like Ray Leonard not gettin credit for beating Hearns who was 144 pounds at weigh in. Ray deserved the win and the credit and so does Pac.
The Cotto win was so easy i think it shocked Pac and Roach. He could have come in at 154 and he still would have gotten dominated. Im not even a Pac fan, i lost a lot of money on Clottey, but damn Pac is good i must admit.
wow..did you really just compare Cotto and Hearns in that sense,,,:?!:

Floyd was the lineal champ at 147... and beat the lineal and former lineal back to back... Not taking anything away from Manny but he needs to beat Shane or Floyd IMO to be considered the man at 147... the same goes for Floyd he needs to beat Shane or Manny
