They are absolute shit now. Last night's card was horrible. Although it is not the worst ever it was pretty bad. I had a hard time staying awake through the thing. 50 bucks down the drain. I really hope Mayweather-Mosley has a solid undercard because i very close on making a decision of not ordering fights anymore.
the problem with PPV undercards is they go for name more than having good style matchups.
alright, lets be honest, Diaz-Soto probably could have been a little better...there was no bad matchmaking for that fight. I didnt really think it was bad anyway.
but having Castillo fight Gomez was an obvious name only kind of fight. Castillo has been totally done on the world stage for a while now, and Gomez...ehm meh.
Duddy is like a wtf always with his mediocreness.
thats what ESPN does so well(usually). they dont always have the best names, but they match them up right.
PPV undercards need to be based around excitement and entertainment, not name matches. most people just buy the card for the main event, let them be actually ENTERTAINED up till that starts, and forget about if casual fans recognize the names or not
Soto diaz was alright but soto didnt seem too bothered like he taught all he had to do was show up he put on a good last round though hope the peterson fight goes ahead in june.gomez castillo was a joke.duddy medina would be good for espn but for a hbo ppv undercard its a bit of a joke
I agree, Bob Arum could have done better.
I thought the Soto-Diaz fight was okay, but I'm tired of watching Duddy and I hope he's not on future PPVs.
The Gomez-Castillo fight was depressing. It was sad to see a formerly great fighter who's now old and shot getting beaten up by someone who's below world-class.
Yea I agree. I am tired of seeing Duddy on PPV cards. He used to be somewhat exciting. He will never beat a top middleweight. A fight between him and Chavez Jr might be the most pointless fight to be made out there.
Castillo should have never even be signed to fight...Atleast not even on televised portion. I hope he is serious about retiring.
Golden Boy hasnt put much better cards either. The Mayweather-Marquez card was pretty solid I'd say but you all forget about De La Hoya-Pacquiao, that had arguably the worst ppv undercard of all time. I think there was like 10 minutes of total boxing on that undercard.
Pacquiao-Hatton wasnt that much better. THat one was pretty bad as well.
I thought the fights had potential to be pretty good. You would think the most visible fight of their careers, they would push themselves to the limits.
Instead all 3 winners just barely did what was needed to win.
No... something needs to be done about Top Rank's ppv undercards... GBP has done a good job a putting together good undercards for their ppv the last couple years
As bad as they are I remember Arum complaining how the general public is always “bitching” about his undercards. Maybe this fight will be his wake up call.
