I saw it on the cotto fight and I saw it on the clottey fight...against a physically stronger fighter pacquiao becomes a sucker for an uppercut...clottey had good defense and if he pulled a 1-2 combination to manny and followed up with a cautious jab along with a few uppercuts the fight would have been different...clottey's bicepts could easily penetrate through pacquiao's defense when he has his hands up facing forward...pushing on the outside with straight cautious punches, and uppercutting when manny is on the inside with your hands completly up and guarded could be the key to upsetting pacquiao...after seeing this performance I am convinced that Mayweather's defense will trouble pacquiao not only that but floyd takes more risk than clottey amd has a faster/more effective jab...I definately saw some flaws in manny's performance..He did well though, but from now on other fighters will learn more from studying the clottey fight than any other of pacquiao's fights...
What flaws??? Pac actually took unnecessary punches from both Cotto and clottey when he doesnt need to or have to just to entertain the fans and give both fighters a false sense of security.
Clottey didn't do dam near enough to win but he did enough for me to KNOW that either Floyd or Shane will be mad problems for Manny.....the lead right was there all night when Clottey let it go.....Floyd must be rubbin' his hands together with a big smile on his face.....plus that left hook was there to the body and to the head.....Josh landed a good body shot at one point and Manny froze up and went to a high guard......Shane eyes must've got greener......but at the end of the day Manny STILL put on a wicked display and I really think those body shots from Manny was bothering Clottey more than people think......props to the Pacman!!
The straight right was there all night. Not a good thing if he fights Mayweather. Most the big uppercuts Clottey landed were Pac trying to instigate some action, don't think that was that big a deal. Other than that Pac fought exactly, exhibit A, how he should have.
exposed AGAIN. i see no improvement in pac and i bet you that roach is really afraid of putting pac in the ring with floyd now. cotto was more effective against clottey than pac was. cottos connect % was 25% while throwing 770 punches compared to pacs 1200+.
floyd is going to make pac look ike an amatuer
lol reported for being retarded.
If any other elite welterweight were to catch that mistake ans just straight punch, defend, and uppercut on the inside pac would be bitting more than he can chew
he already fought 2 elite Welterweight. Come on man, its easier said then done. Pacquiao is to fast, quick and moves around 2 well and his footwork doesn't let you get in position to stike back most of the time. Everybody said Cotto would knock him out then look what happen.
Everybody said De La Hoya would knock him out then look what happen.
Hatton would smother him, got KTFO.
Clottey would test him then look what happen, couldn't throw a punch.
Everybody has mistakes, but Pacquiao was trying to get Clottey to trade with him and he LET Clottey hit him so he could try to open him up more. But clottey would just throw one punch and stay there. Did you see when Pacquiao double punched him with both hands to clotteys guard lol. Clottey couldn't do shit because he knew if he did try to do more he would have gotten landed on more.

I don't really like this post. It's not as black and white as you make out. It was Clottey's approach which determined the way the fights went against Cotto and Pacquiao.
How can you say Cotto was more effective when some people thought Clottey beat Cotto, yet he couldn't even win a round against Pac?
Yes, I did notice a few flaws.
He did seem succeptable to the uppercut and I think tactically he seemed a little one-dimensional. He could have drawn Clottey in a little more.
I still make Mayweather favourite if he fights Pacquiao. But it's such an intriguing fight.
If you look hard enough you'll see whatever you want.
Manny Pacquaio did exactly what he needed to do to win.
Overwhelm the turtle shell that is Clottey.
The thing with Pac he's not afraid of getting hit in order to land his own. Mayweather is too catious and doesn't have the power to take advantage of Pac's minor flaws.
It's not like it's something they don't know. They've got tapes, and studied them for days. They just couldn't do it. But Clottey is a b class fighter at best. Mayweather is A+, you'll see a genius fighting.
the thing is...
Mayweather is fond of throwing straight jabs...
unless he learns to throw lotsa uppercuts
but that would mean going toe to toe with pac
which Mayweather doesnt like.
throwing jabs that would make him open.....for manny's powershots
I'm not saying the hooks will not land but while throwing one mayweather will get caught like cotto did when he tried hooking pacquiao...roach trained pac well on how to counter and angle his punches when his oppoments try to hook...after throwing a hook its hard to time yourself on bringing your hand back to place as uppercutting automatically has you covered
Cotto got caught when he tried to trade with Pacquiao, something you cannot do. The positioning of Mayweather's left hooks is something his opponents will not able to dodge with ease. After he lands the hook, he's out of the view.

nobody's uppercutting pacquiao on the inside unless pacquiao lets them do it. The only mistakes pacquiao really made against cotto and clottey were staying inside too long after throwing a flurry at times to admire his work and getting countered.
But when he zeroes in and uses his feet he's damn near unhittable now.
The left hooks will land. Mayweather leans to the left when he throws the left hook. It's not the same as Hatton, who jumped in throwing the left hook.

Well, Mayweather definately have a different attitude than Clottey and a corner that works in his favour, guess he got a good fight plan as well.
Clottey seems to be looking forward to his pay cheque and wasn't interested in the championship belt. 3 Million bucks richer..that's a lot for a african :D
He did it on purpose. He wants to take some hoping Opponents would open up and he'd try to counter. But you won't see it on the early rounds(1st-2nd rnds) cause Pac's trying measure if he could take hard punches from his opponent. Just my observation though. :boxing:

i was watching it live....pac dominated in all 12 rounds but was getting stunned everynow and then by clotty
