It's disgraceful that Dawson will be off for 10 months before fighting again in August against Jean Pascal. Dawson like Mayweather is a cherry picker, except that he doesn't have Mayweather's drawing power.
I like Jean Pascal, he's a cool dude, and likable boxer. I believe Dawson will suffer first career loss come August.
You just proved you don't know what you're talking about. HBO asked Dawson if he wanted to fight Cloud this April, and Dawson declined, that's cherry picking.
He didn't want to fight Diaconu in the summer of 2008 because he felt the money wasn't right despite losing his title and some credibility, that's cherry picking.
He constantly calls out Hopkins and Calzaghe despite both made it perfectly clear that they didn't want to fight him. Why doesn't call out some of the younger contenders? That's cherry picking. He literally sold himself to HBO.
I TOLD YOU RETARD NOT TO POST IN MY TOPIC, I told you asshole that you are not a true Dawson fan, and what does it matter if I'm a Dawson fan or not?
Yeah but he also gained 2 more titles and some credibility for beating Tarver. After the Johnson fight ( when Dawson/Tarver 1 was announced), there was serious doubts about Dawson and many experts even choose Tarver to win.
I do think he should be more active though and thought that he should have fought Diaconu, although lets not pretend like Diaconu didn't nothing wrong either ( like pulling out about 2 weeks to go in their first fight when Dawson was trained and ready). Also, when Dawson beats Pascal ( who beat Diaconu twice and with one hand the second time) then that kind of erases that. No offense, but i remember you begging for Dawson to rematch Johnson and even when he beat him, you weren't impressed. The Pascal fight is already signed and I'm pretty sure he will fight the winner of Johnson/Cloud.
Why so hard on your boy TS? I'm not a Dawson fan by any stretch of the imagination, but what can you really blame him for? Diacanu is an injury-prone fighter and if Dawson would've went after him instead of fighting Tarver, Diac may have pulled out again like he did the first time and Dawson wouldn't have gotten a payday.
And I was one of Dawson's biggest critics because it seemed like he didn't want anything to do with Tavoris Cloud, but I'm incapable of criticizing Chad Dawson for the same exact thing that Cloud is doing only worse just because I like Cloud better when it comes to a crowd pleasing stand point.
I heard Dan Rafael say that he was in contact personally with Tavoris Cloud, and he isn't injured. He was afraid of Glen Johnson. Cloud might show balls inside the ring when he fights. But unfortunately, for me to be a fan of a guy they have to behave like a champion outside of the ring. That's why I'm glad that we've got fighters like Alexander and Bradley.
Dawson has got no choice but to wait for Pascal to get better, because his contract with HBO only guarantees him two more fights this year. So what's the difference if he fights, like in April and then in July than fight in July and then in the winter? Because if he fought in April and July HBO wouldn't have anymore fights or venues available for him anyway. Sorry for the long post, but this is a good thread and everybody has a right to their opinion.
After Pascal he really needs to consider dropping to 168. 175 is just an awful division and by him fighting Tarver and Johnson over the last few years his stock has dropped drastically. It's almost like he is wasting away his talents sticking in this division.
Pascal can't make 168 anymore, that's why he moved up.
In an interview leading up to the Diaconu rematch he said he was offered a spot on the Super 6 but declined because he couldn't make 168.
HBO asked Dawson if he wanted to fight Cloud this April, and Dawson declined, that's cherry picking.
this is incorrect. dawson didnt fight cloud becuz HBO would not pick it up.
theres no money in that fight.
when will u all get it.
THE GUY IS A DAWSON HATER.
he was backed into a corner about claiming that dawson cherry picks his opponents, when showed that dawson has fought top fighters a hundred times over. HE RUNS to the excuse that dawson has been too inactive and points to how many people who fills up the arena.
WHO GIVES A RED EYED F*CK about how many people fills up a arena u MORON. true dawson fans care about his FIGHTING abilities not how much money or fans he has imbecile.
the only fighter left for dawson in his division is CLOUD and cloud is running scared of johnson. the rest that you mentioned are BUUUUUUUUUMS. no one wants to see dawson fight a bum even if it meant being active. i would rather him take a 10 month lay off and fight a HIGH ranked guy like pascal. also, if pascal wouldn't have faked his arm injuries the fight wouldn't have took nearly as long.
RET@RD.

And yes dropping belts, being a slave bitch to networks, making a big deal about sanctioning rules, not selling out arenas due to bad business decisions, and being inactive drops his stock.
Lol, the TS is bitching about Dawson fighting Tarver, and the raking him over the coals for taking a (contract mandated) rematch... Tarver in the rematch had lost one fight in the last two years. Diaconu has lost two in a row. Yeah... I'm just not convinced the Diaconu fight is going to do much for Dawson.
Yet you forgot to mention that the Tarver fight was a COMPLETE FLOP, and very few people even attended the fight, I think it was around 600-700 people. He gain little credibility beating Tarver because Calzaghe and Hopkins refused to acknowledge him as a possible opponent. What's even more sad is that he had to drop a belt to fight Tarver. He had to go through all that boxing political hoopla just to fight Tarver? RJJ in his prime did not have to drop belts and fought all the opponents he was suppose to fight. If Dawson is so good why does have to be so inactive right now? He's not injured, nor does he have problems with his management or promoter. The 10 months will affect him because he will be rusty.
Diaconu at that time was a dangerous opponent, and it's a fact that Dawson even went extra lengths to avoid fighting him, until he and the WBC agreed that Diaconu would be WBC interim in 2008. Tarver even encouraged Dawson to fight Diaconu.
I like this post, Diaconu would be another fighter he could face to build up some serious hype and maybe they can guarrantee a sellout and make it a bit more intriguing. Just my thoughts

Dawson doesn't need to fight anybody in the top 5, he just needs to fight someone credible. Murat, Erdie (especially Erdei) and Diaconu are credible. Erdei just beat a top 10 cruiserweight, if Dawson beats him, it would be one step to silencing his critics.
I would love to see Dawson vs Diaconu, but Diaconu is probably still recovering from his last fight. Inactivity is one of the worst aspects of today's boxers and something I can't stand. If inactivity wasn't an issue people can easily assume David Haye would beat Wladimir Klitschko.

If Dawson beat any of those guys, he certainly would gain more respect among boxing fans. Don't give me that crap that there is no other option out there for Dawson, he's just cherry picking, and I'm not saying he's ducking anybody, but he's very PICKY about who he wants to fight. I'm actually surprised Dawson wants to fight Pascal, given that he's a risk.
I'm tired of his inactivity, his failed promises (Dawson said 2010 would be the year that he would shut his critics up), and overreaching for opponents that do not want to fight him (Hopkins).

You know who else was credible? Undefeated Adamek. Who know who else was? Tarver who picked up the IBF belt by dominating Woods (which is certainly much more than Cloud had done at that point). One more? How about Glen Johnson, who arguably beat Dawson (I don't score, so I don't have a problem with either result... it was close enough)?
Murat, Erdei and Diaconu are all paling in comparison to the three you outlined. Anyway, Pascal is better than those three... and clearly, except possibly in the case of Erdei where you could make an argument to the contrary.
Erdei has had a history of not making big fights. I know you are going to bitch and moan about Dawson's resume, but... seriously... is anyone going to complain about Dawson's resume stacked up next to Erdei? Hell no. Erdei is the one who is hesitant to make real fights, while Dawson is cautious at best, and in reality, I feel like he has no problem making real fights.
He needs to fight someone else instead of Pascal?
he needs to fight someone soon and still face Pascal!! Don't just sit up and chil until August that's just lazy on Shaw and Dawsons part!!!
Erdei - The guy who fought no one in his reign. His best win at LHW is JC Gonzalez... Right, so... not impressed.
Murat - Has a win over Campillo. Anyone know anything else about him?
Diaconu - That guy coming off two losses? YES! Much more impressive than Dawson. Not to mention, Dawson is fighting the guy who beat Diaconu twice. BUT BUT WHY IS HE WAITING SO LONG TO FIGHT PASCAL?!?!?!?!?! My guess is because of Pascal's shoulder injury.
This is becoming embarrassing.

the IDIOT troll is NO fan of dawson. that's nothing more then a cover up so that he can spew his hate that he has against the guy (DO NOT BE FOOLED) the ret@rd is arguing "why did dawson fight top contenders over BUMS"....and he's crying about it.
this is just a European idiot who hates how good dawson is. trust me, i have argued with PLENTY and can spot one from a MILE away.
if you're good you're good regardless of nationality, but some REFUSE to see this.
who complains about dawson? DAWSON!!!? dawson murdered adamek for goodness sake and cleared his division. complain about someone that is ACTUALLY ducking fighters such as khan u azz crack.
10 month lay off is because there is not too many top fighters LEFT in the division. and for the VERY few that's there they want no part of dawson. that's what happens when you beat most of the top guys in your division. it becomes boring MORON.
Yes I'm European, actually I'm not, believe whatever you want to believe you ****ing LOSER. Oh and only a trollish crackhead types like you. Unless you want to say something intelligent instead of nonsense, please do me a favor and quit posting in my topic because I can't comprehend with retards.

Not only that but I guess the TS fails to realize that Dawson is the Interim WBC Champion and Pascal the WBC Champion. Dawson really has no choice but to wait out Pascal and get the belt so that he can unify it.
If the TS took 15 seconds to look at the WBC top-15 he would realize there is not a single marketable fighter available for Dawson to fight in the meantime.
The guys on the list include Erdei, Murat, Kostecki, Cleverly, Diaconu, Uzelkov, Bulanti, Muriqi, Spina and Lucas. No television network will pay to see Dawson fight any of those guys. The only rated fighters he might be able to get on TV against are Jones Jr. and Danny Green and they are tied up with their own fights, and Dawson probably wouldn't want to waste his time with either of those guys anyway.
QUIT ****ING AROUND... Nathan Cleverly is a box office star!
In all seriousness, thank you for the excellent post which is based entirely in truth.
The IBF gave Dawson a choice to fight Cloud and then take care of the rematch clause later. If Dawson had fought and beaten Cloud it certainly would of gave him more credibility. I mean sure the IBF is pretty strict, but you can't blame everything on the sanctioning bodies.
EXCELLENT argument. However, the IBF and Tarver are different entities. Had Dawson fought Cloud, Tarver's attorneys would have put Dawson in the same financial realm as Jose Luis Castillo.
I blamed 0 on the sanctioning bodies by the way.

You appear to have no knowledge of the repercussions of a rematch clause in a contract. I'm uncertain why people would take your argument seriously.

As a matter fact the IBF viewed the rematch clause as a voluntary defense which is why they gave Dawson very little leverage.
