not trying to say that the Devon wasn't winning or that Devon would've have eventually KTFO Urango, but Urango could've went for atleast a few more seconds and should've been allowed to see if he could make the bell. I think it was an early stoppage.
Its not as if the question of whether it was a quick stoppage is without merit so I am glad someone made this thread.
I don't really get a look at Urango's eyes because of how the camera was angled when the ref called it but that ref was right in front of Urango and made the call that he was too hurt to continue.
He made the call and its fine to question but not the worst stoppage I have seen.
true, not the worse stoppage, but urango deserved to try and finish the round
You watch it again. Rounds 2-5 were all Urango. Listen to Max when Lederman first shows his scorecard. Go ahead, give it a listen.:owned2:
what? urango didn't win one round.
Um no and no. Watch it again.

That's why I like the ref Steve Smoger, that guy lets the fighters battle to the death.

Urango didn't seem to have any idea of what was going on when it was over. He was finished.
really? cause he was protesting when the ref stopped the fight.
What fight were you watching? Must have been the one Lederman was watching because I saw a different fight. I had big money on Alexander, but Urango was winning a lot of those early rounds. By the last round I had it 5-3 for Alexander. 2 point fight doesn't exactly sound like getting schooled now does it? :blackeye:
wow... you're being sarcastic right?
Early stoppage? Juan got launched like a satellite into outerspace. :lame:
Very surprised he got up after the first one. If that would have went any longer he would have gotten residual damage. In my experience, those dead ringers are the shots that do everlasting damage. I.e. those last few shots Mosley caught Margarito with...take enough of those and you'll be rocking a bib.
juan got up from both knockdowns and deserved a chance to make it to the bell.
I think it was a fine stoppage because the second time Alexander hit him with a weaker shot and he dropped again.
In that kind of position, Alexander could've really loaded up had the ref let it go on.
Urango was rocked bad after the first. If you watch the replay, the second punch and second knockdown didn't have quite the power the first did and Urango buckled and slumped again.
I don't think Urango's corner was too bothered by it.

urango was getting schooled even though he did land some shots but it was all alexander

I thought so too when it 1st happened but when you think about it for a second, Devon really had all of his movements timed at that point and could have landed an uppercut like that at will anytime he wanted if the ref had let it go after the 2nd kd.
yeah, but lets see devon do it, not us speculate about it.
Thats what I thought at first, but when they showed the replay, Urango really was hurt and got hit on the temple the second time. It was the Refs decision, I think it was a good stoppage. Damn, I didn't think Alexander had it like that, he gained a fan tonight.
yeah, it was the ref's decision, but still, urango should been allowed to try and reach the bell.
urango looks like the type who, even when he gets KD, he doesnt look hurt and could continue. i didnt have a problem with the stoppage.
good point, but we don't know if urango was really hurt or not from just looking at him, we gotta let him try and finish the fight.
If the ref let it go Urango could be on a stretcher right now. Good stoppage.
we don't know that for sure.
It was early but Alexander had just whooped his ass for 8 rounds and knocked him silly twice. He was gonna stop him anyway, the ref just saved Urango. He was shutting him out.
true, but urango deserved to see if he could survive until the bell.
Who was winning the fight? Fight News said Urango seemed to have the more affective punches.
no urango was getting outboxed easily and got dropped nasty

yeah, but urango should've been given the benefit of the doubt. this was a world championship bout.
