Just wondering because Pavlik is a real Middleweight with real power. Hes a big ass dude. Hes been up to 170 vs. Hopkins and is moving up to 168 to fight Bute so hes a big ass dude.
I dont see Martinez hurting him at all. I also cant see Martinez having any answers for Pavliks jab. I think the power factor is what will do Martinez in.
It will be a tough one.martinez definitly has more of a chance against pavlik that pwill would have had,the ghost would have destroyed williams
Well he had 2 chances to destroy Williams and he had other plans.
That sounds like you want to do a 100k bet?
And, I will do a straight up bet with anybody on here.
I am also betting real money...
Martinez is going to school Pavlik.
I dont see it. Martinez has bad stamina and he is easy to hit.
I think Pavlik is an easier matchup for him than Williams was. Kelly is an accumulation puncher and I don't think he can land consistently enough to stop Sergio.
Long time no see bro. Doing good. Same ole song and dance for me. Balancing family and my sport!hehe
I am off an on. I go through periods where I post a lot and then go through an inactivity stage as life demands it.
How are you doing?
pretty much same for me, but these days im more inactive than mayweather lol ill lurk in when any major fight comes up, other than that just livin man.
so i guess we're on the same page about pavlik martinez. although i gotta say, ive been watching the whole hoopla and buzz from interviews and press conferences, and i heard martinez say something i dont like.
he said he's going to ko pavlik, and i just think it's the same thing as leaving an open garbage for a racoon at night, it's guranteed to get the shit messed up if you know what i mean. dont get me wrong sergio is a strong guy, but he needs to use his slickness and forget the exchanges.
decision is where it's at for him. judging by sergio's mentality, i have to make this fight a 50/50 strictly because of the possibility of sergio going in it warrior style.
hey dean, holy shit, how are ya brother. i dont spend that much time on these forums anymore, so i never catch your posts. what's good man?

If Pavlik cannot find a home for the jab, he will not find a home for the right hand.
This fight is going to be tough for him mainly because Martinez is a southpaw. Pavlik has very little experience against southpaws and when he did fight one, McKart, he had a lot of difficulty landing anything clean. Now McKart was a wiley veteran so it is no shame with Pavlik finding him difficult, but Martinez offers Speed and Mobility on top of that southpaw stance.
This is going to be a stylistic nightmare for Pavlik, even more so than the Hopkins fight. I still give Pavlik a chance in this one though as it will be at his own weight class and he will feel strong at the weight. Martinez is also more hittable than Hopkins.

martinez is my pick
however sergio has a tendency to go for blood when he needs to lay back and show off his boxing gifts.
this could turn into a louis conn fight if sergio decides to trade, however if it's a smart boxing match id favor martinez all the way
the bookies have sergio as an underdog in this fight, so consider for the moment Pavlik's power which makes him a favourite

You have 6M points. You have only dedicated 55K to Martinez over Pavlik. Pussy.

When has Pavlik said he is going to fight Bute? If Pavlik was/is ducking Williams then he will be running away from Bute.
I think Pavlik is all wrong for Martinez.
He will walk him down and lead with his long jab. When the jab lands Martinez will stop in his tracks and the right hand will follow.
Pavlik lost to the same version of Hopkins that fought Roy Jones. Martinez is gonna blitz him.
Sergio is Pavlik's stylistic nightmare.
Faster feet that he has no trouble effectively using. Paul has faster feet and a longer reach than Pavlik, yet found himself consistently out of reach. Martinez' footwork will play a big role to him winning as he stays out of range and counters Pavlik when he reaches or darts in, lands, and darts back out.
Martinez' power impressed me, I already knew he was fast, but I hadn't seen Paul buzzed the way Martinez had him for the first 3. He can stop Pavlik.
Pavlik has a shot, but it's a punchers' chance. And it won't be from just one shot either, he has to hope he wears Martinez out enough early to catch him later. Pavlik is capable of it though, he punches hard enough and has a good enough chin to put on consistent pressure.

Taylor IMO is and always has been the same fighter. I don't think he is shot, but what I do believe is that he can't (or never has been able to) handle big punchers. In almost all of his losses he was outboxing his opponents. Against a near 40 hopkins, winky wright, corey spinks and others....those guys didn't have the big punch as an equalizer. So Taylor looked good boxing those guys. Against Abraham, Froch and Pavlik.....he looked good in all of those fights until he got caught, so in reality I feel he was the same fighter, its just he was finally exposed.
Agree with everything you said. Everyone got better and he didn't. I think his ability to set up shots should be a lot better and are below average for a fighter at his level.
I give Kelly props for the Miranda win, he was underestimated, came in and did his job. Taylor was never that good to begin w/ in my opinion. Taylor had more controversial wins than any fighter I know, too many flaws. I think the way Kelly was portrayed to the boxing world, people expected more from. I think Kelly and Taylor are average elites.
