Like the title says, Why didn't Cotto get as much credit as Mayweather for fighting Mosley? Because if I recall there weren't much credit for Cotto for fighting him but now Floyd is fighting him and everybody is praising him. Don't get me wrong I like the fight and I'm happy Floyd is stepping up his game but it looks like a double standard the credit his getting.
One reason why I don't give Cotto as much credit for it is because Paul Williams had just beat Margarito and was ranked higher than Mosley. Right now, Mosley is more highly regarded than he was then based on the fact he beat the #1 Welterweight in the world. But Mosley left off on a high note before that fight when he beat Collazo, so it's a good win to have on your resume either way. But the key word is win. What are you gonna say if Mayweather beats Mosley more convincingly than Cotto did? Are we gonna get this shit of "Well Cotto fought a younger version of Mosley." I see where you Cottards are going with this thread and I'm not a Mayweather fan either. I hope Mosley beats him, but you get where I'm coming from.
you're a f*cking DUMMY. why do they let retards on this site. the reason people are so exited about the mayweather mosley fight is because of the STYLES and bad blood between the 2. PAC knocks out cotto and people act like it has never been done before. we can play these types of games over and over again.
Yeah that's why people are EXCITED for the fight? why are people giving credit to floyd for fighting a guy he should definitely be fighting?
People are excited for this fight because they want to see floyd against a world class opponent...... for the first time in years, pretty much since his lightweight days. Though we will probably find out right before the fight that floyd didn't make weight and that mosley has to wear 10 oz grants. or something flimsy like he pulled against JMM.
Well cotto is a modern day warrior and floyd is the biggest pussy to ever step in the ring.
Thats why. He calls himself the greatest fighter of all time, yet he retired a couple years ago saying he had nothing to prove even though Cotto was undefeated and arguably better than floyd. Than he comes back when Manny starts making boat loads, He cares about money and thats it, while most athletes care about about money and the legacy they will leave behind. The only reason he is now fighting mosley is because if he didn't he would look like a coward and would quite possibly lose his chance of cashing in on the Pac fight. The guy admits it himself , he is all business and he would fight de la hoya 10 times straight if he could.
People just making stuff up now, Cotto doesn't get credit for fighting Mosley??? Since when. When the fight is talked about he does.
Mayweather fans were trying to downplay Cotto's win against Mosley talking about his age.. which is true. Mosley isn't in his prime.. but all the sudden Mayweather signs on to fight him and it's like he's doing something that's never ever been done before.
Because Floyd fans are fucking idiots.. and Mayweather hasn't fought anyone worth a squat in the longest so fighting someone in the top 5 is a miracle.
Like Rocky! said.. that's how bad Floyd's rep has fallen.. he is on bitch status.
Cotto fighting Mosley is just another boxing match. Mayweather fighting Mosley is like Mayweather trying to make it seems like a death. Mayweather is that scare of fighting a real welterweight opponent that it's such a big thing to him if he fight one.
that's how far Floyd's rep has fallen
it's a big deal for him to fight the best guy in his division
not like that's his job or anything
Floyd fighting a real fight is cause for celebration nowadays
:rofl::rofl:
this makes sense so, co-sign
This thread is dumb.
Mosley should be getting credit for fighting Cotto, not Cotto credit for fighting mosley.
Because Cotto was the risky prospect when they fought. Mosley had nothing to prove and everything to lose (Just like with Winky and with Forrest)
Floyd didn't fight cotto, Mosley did. Credit should be to Mosley, not cotto. TS needs to reformat this post IMO.

Because Mayweather is so reluctant to fight the best that when he does actually step up its made out to be something special when in actual fact he is just doing what he should of been doing.
Cotto also beat a much better version to.
I dont see Floyd getting a ton of credit but alot of people thought Shane beat Cotto or came very close, then he stopped Mayorga, and then wrecked a Margarito who killed a prime Cotto. Thats why its elevated in some people's mind
Because when Cotto fought Mosley, Mosley wasnt considered the best Welter.....Ever since Mosley beat margarito, his stock sky rocketed because of margaritos win over Cotto.....
just like Margarito didnt get any praise when he fought Cotto...Cotto Looked bad against Ricardo Mayorga a.k.a the human punching bag....
I assume you mean Mosley looked bad against Mayorga. Honestly anyone who fought Mayorga that night would of looked bad. He was doing a lot of holding and hitting. Shane came through with a brutal knockout. Plus 154 isnt exactly Shane's best weight.
people thought it was the passing of the torch to the new generation and moslety was prob on the slide cotto was really good that nite and mosley was good also
Well because Mosley had been losing a lot of fights before facing off Cotto. He had lost 4 and since he beat Margarito, The man who beat Cotto and became number 1 in the welterweight division, That's why people have high regard for him right now.
Many people see that as the win that elevated Cotto's career. Based on that I'd say that he's getting more credit for his fight with Mosley than Floyd.
Cotto's always fought whoever the best fighter was out there for him. Floyd hasn't. That's why Floyd gets credit, because he stopped fighting C+ - B- level fighters and now is fighting a B level fighter at best. I don't think a KO win over Margarito should put Mosley in an A level standard, especially when Margarito is tailor made for Shane. I'm not trying to discredit Shane because he once was an A level, but now he is about 40 years old, you have to wonder.
