For better or worse. Will people who were for it start to back track if it seems more demanding than they thought? Will those against it say its not a big deal after all if it turns out to be hardly as intrusive as some have made it out to be? Will casuals viewing 24/7 start to question Pac for not agreeing to something so simple or will they see that his concerns were validated? Lets talk about.
I just don't think this will be overplayed as it was during the negotiations with Pac. I'm saying this because Mosley is a GBP fighter and Oscar/Schaeffer have their hands on this thing now, unlike before when they were going after Pac.
I'm saying, why wasn't there Olympic style testing during the Mosley-Berto clash before it was canceled and why isn't there one in the upcoming Hopkins-JonesJr. bout?
This whole Olympic testing, albeit may be valid and should therefore be instituted in BOXING but only by the governing bodies, is more of a negotiating hype and tactic rather than anything GBP and Mayweather has us believing it should be.
Much of the boxing world know the deal.. We shall see...
GBP and Floyd can make it a big talking point if all goes well. That would possibly heat the whole subject up again and make things tough for team Pac. Or if it doesn't go smoothly it may show Pac was being realistic about the process. The pressure would then be on Mayweather to drop the whole thing.
much of the boxing world knows this whole olympic drug testing is nothiing but a mayweather scam. to prove this point:
Joe Goosen, Legendary Boxing Trainer:
"I just think Pacquiao is a juggernaut right now... and I would just say that maybe that's the reason (Floyd's) throwing up all these smokescreens and roadblocks because he (Floyd) doesn't wanna get in the ring with him (Pac)... (Floyd) should just say yes to the fight, forget all the testing, this guy's (Pac) not on drugs. There's a little air there in all this that's just not right."
Al Bernstein, Showtime Boxing Analyst:
“It seems patently obvious to me that Floyd and his minions killed the Pacquiao fight. The bottom line is that the fight was basically a done deal before they decided to inject the demands for blood testing into the picture. Pure and simple, Golden Boy and Floyd and his advisers created the problem, and it ended up killing the fight.”
Dan Rafael from ESPN:
"Mayweather shouldn't be making accusations without a shred of proof as he tries to discredit all of Pacquiao's great accomplishments, nor should he try to circumvent the Nevada rules by asking for blood tests when the commission has never asked for them."
Larry Holmes, Heavyweight Champion:
"I wish I could see Mayweather and Pacquiao fight, but what they're (Floyd's camp) doing right now is hurting boxing because people want to see the fight... They're trying to bring up stuff that is taking away from the fight with drug tests and accusations... I don't get it."
Thomas Hauser, HBO.com:
"There were times during the past month when the conduct of Team Mayweather had the look of an effort to sabotage the fight. A negotiator who wants to make a deal doesn’t go out of his way to antagonize and publicly embarrass the other side. But that’s what the Mayweathers and Golden Boy did."
Jim Strickland, David Diaz's Trainer/retired licensed pharmacist:
“I don’t see any reason of accusing Manny of using illegal drugs in our fight.”
Timothy Bradley, WBO/WBC Jr. Welterweight Champion:
"I don't think Manny is on anything. He's just on top of his game right now."
James Toney, Multi division Champion:
"Who is Mayweather to ask for the tests? Why didn’t he ask Marquez? Manny’s not on 'roids."
Mike Silver, noted Boxing Historian:
"I think it fell apart because basically Mayweather never wanted to fight Pacquiao. He wants to continue and fight guys he can beat and fool the public.
Roy Jones, Jr.:
"Hell naw. Why change the rules on me? Because I'm coming up in weight means I'm doing steroids? They're giving you a test for that anyway. It would be something that would aggravate me because then after I beat you, I was on something, don't play with me. Either you want to fight or you don't want to fight."
stop spamming threads......
you just can't handle the truth. these are boxing insider's opinions bro.
roy and toney are both cheaters....
How about this..
You are a champ
You are the p4p UNDEFEATED champ
You have done GREATER in your career
and busted your ass too
have MORE money than Pacquiao
What the hell was the point of that??
No one disrespected anyone. Pacquiao had a list of demands and Mayweather had ONE. He wants a clean fight. Boxers cheat and have cheated. This fight will be the fight our generation. The most grossing fight ever. Wouldn't you want to be assured that everything is legit in a fight of this magnitude, a fight that will go down in history..a fight that will make or break you? I would. I'm sorry but I would dude. I'd want to know that everything is top notch. If you don't understand that, I don't know what else to tell you.
pretty much sums it up.
There is no pressure on Pac. Put yourself in his shoes just for a second...
you are the Champ
you are the P4P champ
you were accused of something
disrespected
you have done great in your career
you busted your ass and worked hard
you made and have lots of money already
you also have a team of supporters and handlers with you that advise you
with that said...someone comes along and disrespects you and your good name and ask for testing that you dont mind taken but on your terms...
Not only Pac, but Roach and Arum have a lot of influence over Pac and they dont like Floyd to begin with. So if they were to say fukk Floyd...then its Fukk Floyd! Nobody needs him. We as fans want the fight. And Pac wants it too. But its his terms. Why argue it. He is the King in the sport. like it or not. Hes on the throne . Its like a peasant coming into the Kings castle demanding action.
The pressure I speak of is that of the common fan. If the process comes across kind of suspect no one will blame Manny for not wanting to do it. If it comes across as being very easy to deal with the court of opinion may challenge Manny's stance heavily. I think Manny cares how people view him to a degree and that may equal pressure depending on how this plays out.
For better or worse. Will people who were for it start to back track if it seems more demanding than they thought? We will see how it plays into the 24/7 but it will be addressed and shown at some point. What I would like to see, because it's random blood testing, is how close the last random test will be to fight night, there's no guarantee that it will be less then 14 day before the fight.
It's funny how Mayweather/Pacquiao fell apart because of a possible test 14 days or less before the fight. random means just that.
There is no pressure on Pac. Put yourself in his shoes just for a second...

then get is standardized first in boxing! Floyd doesn't standardize rules. These quotes are from the boxing insiders themselves bro.. so you go on somewhere!
And who did the Boxing Writers Association pick as their fighter ? You answer that.
bring up an article to back your claims.. don't pretend that you're an expert and know what you're talking about.
the last question still stands.
If you haven't skimmed through or read the millions of threads based around articles written by peoples with expertise on the usage of PED's, then you're blind. Do a google search, or skim the forums until you find one.
It can be masked, or at that time out of his system, something that has been repeated thousands of times around these forums.
you just can't handle the truth. these are boxing insider's opinions bro.
This is not an agenda thread to spam dude. Stick to the topic. You can debate your issues about the testing in another thread.

I think you make a good point that the 24/7 will change how a lot of people view it one way or the other. It will also end a lot of false speculation on how it's done when we will actually be able to see for ourselves.
then get is standardized first in boxing! Floyd doesn't standardize rules. These quotes are from the boxing insiders themselves bro.. so you go on somewhere!

That's the point genius. Hence the reason he continues to follow through with his drug testing demands even after the fight with Pac collapsed.
What in the world does that have to do with anything?

yeah it would...that way people wont call pac a steroid user and he can clear his name...
Let us not forget that Pac was willing to take blood tests up to a point and unlimited urine testing !
There is no official and consensus medical proof that shows there's a difference between a 24 day and a 14 day cutoff!
And what's the difference between blood taken a day before the fight vs. right after the fight ?!!
Some of you people are severely dense. That or retarded.
Urine test can't and don't detect the use of all PED's.
If you honestly believe there isn't a difference between 14 and 24 days, you aren't very bright. Even 14 days leaves a wide enough window for the usage of PED's.
Stop while you're ahead.
I say standardize the tests first. Here's what much of the boxing world thinks:
Joe Goosen, Legendary Boxing Trainer:

Stick to the topic or find another thread homie.
What news piece? the one that was clearly bias, that one?
perhaps. but that was the most information on subject that's come out to date.
Fact is we dont know the format of the additional testing in place for mosley/mayweather or if it will even be olympic style or not.
We only know that Mosley has agreed to any and all additional testing Mayweather wishes to implement.

Yes, because Olympic style blood testing, which thousands of the worlds top athletes have been subject to, is an insane proposition.
Go on somewhere.
I heard Mayweather say drug testing will be in place without specifying the format. but referring back to the last newspiece i seen on the subject floyd is also in complete control of any additional testing. Which may mean it may not be random at all....or random with extremely limited or limitless testing.
What news piece? the one that was clearly bias, that one?
Mayweather has said in his promo interviews that it will be in place.
