I just looked up the event schedule for the Rancho Mirage and it shows that Abraham vs. Dirrell can't be staged there on March 27 which means a new venue is necessary for this Super Six tourney fight.
As both Shaw/Sauerland said, they want to keep the fight in California and the only venue that would be appropriate (and not blocked by another event) to play venue for this bout would be the Nokia Theatre in LA.
As a bonus, it would fit up to 5.000 spectators, so even more Armenians could support AA live...but maybe Shaw is afraid of such a hostile enviroment for his own Andre Dirrell and he moves this fight to a small ballroom in Las Vegas...

hmm....some places in america can be taken....i wonder where this fight will go down though??..
Why not have the damn thing in Detroit or Flint? Michigan may be going through some tough times but there is always a ton of smaller fights here, this is a good fight state. Bring the event to Dirrells hometown. Shawn Porter got a decent crowd in Cleveland. Ohio is doing no better than Michigan and probably is doing worse.
IMO there ain't no big site fee offered by any venue near Detroit to sweeten a deal for Shaw...plus he can charge more money for tickets in or near LA b/c of the big Armenian community...
Btw, I would like to see the fight shift to MSG Theatre in NY as I might even fly over there, if Shaw would do so...
