Holy cow. This guy was amazing. The style the sharpness. WOW. My dad told me about him yesterday, I didnt even know about him, I know I terribly fail :( .. Being watching his fights since yesterday non stop, and his record is none the less superb. Is it ok IMHO to add him to my ATG list? Geez, I am speechless for now.
Never seen anyone land the straight right hand as accurately as he did. I watched his last fight against Petelo and after putting on a damn good performance, I don't understand why he retired.Well, he'd been a pro for 16 years, and he retired at the age of 35. That's quite old for a strawweight. I guess his heart wasn't quite in it anymore.
I wonder how old his son is? Anyone know?

Aye, he's great, but Sanchez > Lopez imo.
I agree Chavez and Sanchez > Lopez... Rubin Olivares > Lopez as well... But, IMO Finitio is in the top 5 greatest Mexican fighters of all time...
He looks good, so far, but hard to tell at this early stage. He clearly mimicks his father's style, which could be both good and bad. Seems a lot more mechanical and less ring generalship, but of course, that's a ridiculous comparison.
Damn, that's his son? Looks just like him. I thought it Ricardo early in his career.
Has that same beautiful left hook to the body, not bad for his second pro fight.
Here you go, you can tell your son later about this one in your generation

What I loved about Ricardo, among other things, was the way he'd vary his guard. He always kept his gloves quite high, but his guard would also always mirror the stance of his opponents, switching every second, making it incredibly hard to find an opening. Most of his punches also had very little telegraphing, and that combined with the varied stance made him hard to avoid over time.
he could of moved up in weight......and get better competition
That's the only thing that bugs me about him. Other than that, he's a HOF and a ATG little fighter.

I was watching the new Top Rank cards on Fox Sports Español a couple of weeks ago and Ricardo Lopez's son Alonso "Finito" Lopez fought some guy making his pro debut. He busted up the guy's nose up pretty good.
He only has like 3 fights I think, but he's a spitting image of his dad.
I see something of JMM in Lopez. *EDIT* That came out backwards. I see Lopez in Marquez, I meant.
Both fighters' combos are beautiful. Who is better? That's debatable I guess. For me, Lopez is the better all-round fighter. It's a shame he doesn't get the attention he deserves, probably due to fighting at such a light weight.
I said the same exact shit once I seen Lopez and his uppercuts and combinations.
You'd have to go back to at least 1997 to catch them at a similar weight and back then there would've been no comparison, Lopez would've murdered him. Pac wasn't that good in those days.
I Agree. but it would only take 1 shot at the Jaw.
Or Pac vs. Finito in 1999?
Lopez is too good for Pac
Pac is too big for Lopez
It could be 12 rounds to zero for Lopez
or
Pac win a single round but via KO. I dont see pac winning a round unless he hits the jackpot ala Chatchai.

He almost killed Ala villamor with that wicked uppercut :(

Yeah, I don't think Pacquiao would have the chance to load up his bomb against Finito in 1997.
Even the Filipino Edito "ALA" Villamor who had a record of 29-1 (26 KOs) never had the chance to really hurt Finito. He was stopped in the 8th round.

Ricardo Lopez was a great! Greatest below 112 all time. Just think if he was a heavyweight or middleweight and did what he did at miniumweight(strawweight) he would be an atg top 10!
For how long did Calderon stay at minimum Weight you moron? Has Calderon moved up? yes Has he faced better Oppo than Finito Lopez at 108? yes he has.
And after he he finishes with Tamara in april he will move upo and face Koki Kameda in Japan!
Shit, dude talk about a fuckin fan boy. Finito went in to other cats' backyards to beat em and a lot of them were damn good too. What has Calderon done besides get gift technical draws in Puerto Rico?
