It appears that various non hispanic/Mexican members are fixated on the state of Mexican boxing? Why? things work in CYCLES. Normally, when a professional sports team is dominant or at least prominent, it suffers a slump when its best players leave, but it picks right back up with new blood. this doesn't happen over night.
Or are those trying to make a big deal of it have a different agenda?
Meh. Too many people here are obsessed with nationalities and race. Who cares what country and color a fighter is? I mean, I understand supporting guys local to you but besides that there really isn't a point...
Its what you call nationalism or national pride thingy...

i agree with wat he said!
this only results in ignorance and non productive debates/discussions.
I am not concerned. There are many great prospects on the horizon! And a few undefeated contenders ready for the spot light! Mexico has always produced legends and will continue to do so!
Did I miss something?
Like I ultimately agreed with Check earlier, the Morales, Barrera, JMM, etc. era is ending or has already done so. Just because there isn't some new fighter ready right at the moment doesn't mean it's fallen drastically. Give the next wave of fighters a chance to grow.
There's still quality fighters at the lower weights (and higher up), but they just don't receive a great deal of attention here in the US.
Speaking of which, for those of you who don't know, Abner Mares is fighting Yonnhy Perez on the Vazquez-Marquez IV undercard. The fight will be televised by Showtime and promises to be a pretty good fight.
I guess this is response to my thread. I have no agenda, I just felt that I would bring it to the attention of the fans and ask their perspective. I may not be Mexican but most of my favorite fighters have been of Mexican descent. To me the country has dipped in talent and have lost most of their big fights as of late.Alot of other people talk about this.
It actually shows how much Mexican fighters mean to the sport when people are wondering about the state of Mexican boxing. Mexican boxing will always be part of the sport one way or another. There are so many contending Mexican fighters that fans witness many of them loosing as of late. In 2009, 13/17 HBO fights had Mexican fighters involved. 15/27 SHOW fights had Mexican fighters involved. Not to mention all the ESPN, FSN, etc. cards. And the future is going to bring more to Mexican boxing. Mexican boxing is 2nd only to U.S. boxing in terms of the big names and number of top competitors. So I am feeling good about nationalities right now no matter what.
Also, peoples favorite fighters fight with the name of a Mexican guy on their gloves and the most recognized belt in boxing, the green belt is based out of Mexico. Alot of fighters out there have gotten their spot light from defeating a Mexican/s. The Mexican boxing community is the most targeted in boxing. Mexican boxing is always in it even through down times.
