What makes more money for Americans: Being a HW boxer or playing in the NFL/NBA?

Until we see a big American Heavyweight become a cash cow. All the athletes in America will go towards playing in the NBA or NFL. Boxing just doesnt have the appeal anymore for these big guys. The rest of the world has simply caught up and passed the US of A, ey. So far there has been absolutely no proof that a professional NFL player could hack it as a professional boxer of high standards or even just make it as a professional boxer. Just name me an an ex NFL player currently holding a title belt in boxing......just one. Boxing is one of the most tiring and brutal sport around. In the NFL you have all these paddings and all these rests/commercial breaks. It has been said that in a typical 3 hours NFL game, there is only 11 minutes worth of actual play. Rugby players are far and away more suited to combat sport than NFL players, and especially NBA players. This is why your starting to see more and more rugby players switching over to boxing/combat sports.

A heavyweight boxer can make just as much or more if they are good enough, Floyd makes a ton of money a heavyweight of similar ability would make more then him. It is much harder and more risky though to take the boxing route. American's love heavies and if one captures the public's imagination the sky is the limit for what they can make. Still it makes sence that most of the best athletes would choose to go a different route as hard as it is to make it big in any sport boxing is one of the most difficult roads.

Football has a similar level of contact (with pads) but is played in 10 second bursts. Rugby players endurance is more proven Vs basketball they have no way proven they can handle the type of contact boxing involves, rugby players are far more proven in regards to their toughness. And in terms of #'s of ppl playing Rugby worldwide vs Americans playing football, i'm sure that there are far more "potential hw's" who are playing rugby than football. Im assuming the one that pays more no? there are many other sports you can get payed well for doing.. if that was the case, there wouldn't be boxers from any parts of the world since even F-1 racers get payed millions. anyway, a heavyweight champion can make much more then an NFL star.. it's one person who the income is going to and not a whole team. out of the top 10 payed athlete's last year I believe there were two boxers on the list so you can't say that you can't make as much if not more money in boxing. again.. it's a pathetic excuse.

7 year old children don't start playing football, rugby, hockey, or boxing because they're thinking about the contracts and endorsement deals they can get. They choose the sport in large part because they enjoy it.
