When Amir Khan beats Marcos Maidana does Maidana suddenly become an over-rated bum who wasn't very good/tomato can taxi driver or will Khan get some genuine respect?
Will the haters disappear or will they turn into Khan fans (and pretend they were all along)?
Answers on a postcard please.
You don't even have to ask that question to know that people will call Maidana overrated if Khan wins
I know that I just want to see people eat their words after Khan schools Maidana.

It's been said before n I'll say it again: khan either shits all over you or gets KTFO...same wit this fight one of them is getting bruck up n I hope it's maidana coz I like khan
No... Maidana is, and will remain, a crude B level fighter who marks a significant waypoint in Khan's career as he brings power and toughness to the table with a genuine belief that he can win - three things which Khan's match-makers have generally avoided up to this point.
Khan will still be favourite to win however, and rightly so.
If Khan wins Maidanna automatically becomes a bum, someone whos fought no-one etc
No its not true but haters will always be haters. there will always be excuses IF Khan wins. He will not much respect for fighting and/or beating Maidanna
ma51f, So far Khan has fought one old small shot great in Barrera that he managed to cut in the first round rendering the fight meaningless and a journeyman pro who somehow managed to become a world champion. The rest are an assortment of past it small low quality opposition in canned fights with the exception of Prescott who could bang but is a B grade fighter. Maidana represents the first real fight where you actually feel he might lose. That is ONE fight ,we are not talking about cleaning up the division here and beating Bradley e where he does not get respect despite proving he is the best.Maidana is one fight after a catalogue of canned fights . How much respect does that really deserve? I am pleased that he seems to have stopped the Frank Warren pattern and just taken the fight and if and I think when he beats Maidana even the haters will recognise that the win is more worthy of respect than a win over the likes of salita and Oisin Fagan but lets face it Maidana is not the best in the division.

The opposite sort of happened with Maidana Ortiz.Ortiz was getting all the hype and Maidana wasn't really getting the recognition he deserved.I give any the 2 of them all the credit in the world if they win.I'm a fan of both fighters anyway but a tomato can is biased.Think what Roach could do to Maidana if he trained him.Could probably turn him into a machine.
That is not true. Maidana has fought and beaten Ortiz and was outpointed by journeyman Kotelnik he is no Salita padded record bum. He is not a skilled fighter but is well capable of knocking Khan out something Salita was never capable of. Salita was a bum before he fought Khan he did not automatically become one after his dismal performance.

No, he's fighting someone with limited boxing ability, but with a threatening punching ability. I will give credit to Khan if he wins (like I think he will), but he can't be fighting no-marks like Salita and Fagan again. Maidana -> Malignaggi/Hatton -> Bradley. They're the fights which I want to see for Khan's forseeable future.
Six Shoother has said from the very start that he doesn't rate Marcos high and that Paulie is the more difficult fight for Amir.
Maidana just need more exposure to make people believe in his abilities.
Or go in the path of Mayweather using his mouth instead.
IMO Maidana has what it takes to beat Khan I trust Roach assessment in this matter. I give 60/40 in favor of Maidana in winning against Khan as of now.
Khan IMO need more experience and training before fighting this dangerous fighter.
SEE, I knew it. You are already planting the seed that Maidana is overrated and if Khan losses you will label him overrated and a protected fighter by Roach.
Why can't you just praise both fighters win or loss
Planting the seed? I've said all along that Maidana is overrated and would have preferred to see Khan fight Malignaggi. I think Maidana is overrated i'm not going to change my view because others want me to.
i like amir but if he gets hit by marcos with a big one, its goodnight for him....
maidana is one of the best at 140......he's tough , strong and fast.....good fight tho if it happens
'ONE of the best' is such a vague statement and has become so over-rated here.
It could mean anything.
In terms of skill he isn't even in the Top 10.
I think it's irrelevant that Khan has had an 'easy route' to a world title.
The fact that he school Kotelnik then blasted out his mandatory challenger in ONE minute proves that he was more than worthy of being champion because he made it look so easy.
Why should boring champions hold on to their belts and be protected when fresh, new and young challengers - who can bring more money and fans to the sport - are more than capable of beating them?
It's irrelvant that Khan was fastracked to the top. He beat Kotelnik comprehensively and that alone means no one should begrudge him of his success. I can't think of other challengers (Bradley aside) who would have put such a clinic on Kotelnik.
Khan deserves his respect, he has carried himself admirably since his lost; a warm up fight, beat a legend, became champion and blasted his mandatory out in one round.
THAT is the sign of of a TRUE champion.
Meanwhile Maidana beats Ortiz and is now lauded as the heir apparent to the light welterweight division. I just don't understand the logic (but then again it is pointless arguing with 'fans' who are barely teenagers).
