No PPV's for Mosley even though he's fighting name opponents like Mayorga, Margarito and Berto. His last PPV against another name opponent(Miguel Cotto) sold 200k PPV's.
Why doesn't HBO hype Mosley up as a PPV fighter? He has the style to be exciting, he takes on all challenges, and his name isn't the most famous out there but he is well known.
Why are wack fights like Mayweather-Baldomir, Mayweather-Marquez, and Mayweather-Gatti(I'm a Mayweather fan but these did NOT belong in PPV) on PPV but fights like Berto-Mosley, Margarito-Mosley that consists of two big names, not on PPV? Is it the fear of those fights selling 200k again?
Discuss.
You just can't stop talking about Cotto can you?
And Margarito-Cotto did not sell 500k, stop making your own numbers up.
It did 450K, didnt you say a few K off doesnt matter?
also guys:
use the search, Mosely-Vargas did 410K.
Both fights are very, very good numbers. Only a couple fighters (Oscar, Floyd, Pac) can generate 500k-1Mil buys these days. A flop would be like Calzaghe-Jones, which did 190k WITH a 24/7 to hype it.
mosley is a exciting fighter in the ring but out of the ring he doesnt seem to have a big personailty,so he needs someone to hype him up but no one ever does, you got floyd who runs his mouth and people want to see him, some one him to loose and some want him to win either way he sells, then you got manny a very nice and humble guy with a exciting style,he stays quiet but hes got roach and arum always promoting him and putting his name in the lime light,i do feel sorry for shane but he has made bad choices in his career, lets hope he beats berto and then gets ppv with floyd because if he losses then he will start all over again and hes getting old now
Good, next I'll show you how to shave and take you to a whore house my son.
BTW, 350 K is NOT a flop.
I don't need to shave.
350k is not a flop if you're Miguel Cotto.
Tell me something, would you call a Mayweather or Pacquiao fight a flop right now if they sold 350k against name opponents?
I would think you have to call it a flop because of what they're able to do. But Cotto, 350k, I guess that's like 1mill for him.
Yea, 350 K is not a flop at all.
But to answer the question....Mosley is a name, not a draw. I really think it has more to do with the fact that he has fans, but he doesn't have passionate fans.
Guys like Pac, Cotto, and Tito have countries behind them.
Floyd stirs up controversy and knows how to create interest.
DLH had an endearing story and was a gold medalist.
Shane doesn't have anything like that. But I do think his draw is somewhat underrated cause his ratings on WCB are usually solid. But that's what seperates him from the others....When he's fighting for free, people hear the name Shane Mosley and turn on HBO. When he's fighting on PPV, he doesn't have those passionate fans that are willing to shell out $50 to watch him fight.
Same with Hopkins and Winky.
the reason mayweather is a bigger draw then mosley is because mayweather runs his mouth and sells his fights,
and mosely never says any thing crazy or interesting to the media. So he appears boring while mayweathers voice brings soo much excitement
I learned it from you. I should be more on point now.
499K is not 500k.
Good, next I'll show you how to shave and take you to a whore house my son.

Oh OK I see... my bad, carry on...
When are you going to call in?
My internet connection sucks badly right now. It disconnects all the time, when I have a more stable connection i'd call.
But i'm always there chatting with all of you though, I become eager to call but I just can't at the moment.
F*ck PPV. I'm glad we didnt have to pay for any of those because paying $65 to watch a fight is a bitch. There should be no PPV just like in the old days.
I wish it was like that too but hey look at 2009, only 3 PPVs. There was fights in 2009 that were free and would have been PPV in 2008.
So far this year will look the same. Only Hopkins-Jones, Mayweather and Pacquiao fights would be on HBO PPV. We have the Showtime tourney for free, Berto-Mosley for free, and i'm sure down the year we'll get more free shit. By free I mean HBO/Showtime subscription of course.
These guys wan to be technical so I will be technical with them too. If the fight sold 499K then idc it's still not 500k. that's how we do it in BS from the looks of it lol.
Btw, good shit on Horus boxing talk last night.
Oh OK I see... my bad, carry on...
When are you going to call in?
it did 450K, 50 less than what the other dude said where as Kevin said Cotto/Mosley did 200K, 150K less than what it ACTUALLY did and he's telling the guy to stop making up numbers.
I learned it from you. I should be more on point now.
499K is not 500k.
Do you understand why it wasn't on PPV?
Do you understand wht sarcasm is?
Jesus Kevin, you said Cotto/Mosley did 200K!! Stop being a hypocrite bro.
Hyp about what? You're still on my case about an 100k difference? The point was that the PPV was a flop.
It did do 500k or really really close to it...

Well De La Hoya vs Forbes wasn't on PPV and the common man has never heard about Forbes. This was btw the biggest draw in boxing atm.
Do you understand why it wasn't on PPV?
Cotto got 500K against Margarito (Cotto was the A side of the promotion) and 1.2 with Pacquiao. 350K with Mosley also. Also his fight with Pacquiao drew more in Puerto Rico's than any other fight. Considering Tito Trinidad is also Rican that is a big aqccomplishment. Cotto is the 3rd biggest draw in boxing today and numbers don't lie!!!
BTW Cotto is a bigger draw than Hopkins!Mosley is a big PPV draw.

200K in PR against Pacquaio. margarito fight was 450K. Hopkins drew around that much against Jermaine Taylor. I would not say Hopkins or Cotto are PPV guys. The only guys who draw in all of their fights from the 90s to now were Tyson, Holyfield, Oscar, Tito, Floyd, and now Pacquiao.
