I don't recall any public demand for either of these fights. The only real justification was the strap. And now they're gonna just throw it away because they have someone who poses a slightly trickier match-up in front them?
This applies more to Salita than Kotelnik, who I feel is a reasonable win for an up-n-comer. But the Salita fight was all about the belt. No one wanted the actual fight, they just saw it as a necessary step to the next mandatory bout - Marcos Rene Maidana.
It looks now like he is just not going to fight anyone anymore who can crack.
He really could shut alot of ppls mouths by taking this fight. The thing is everyone knows Maidana is not the most skilled and Khan could easily outbox him but if he could just take some clean shots and is still standing at the end of the 12th then he will have earned alot of respect from fans for taking on a challenge like this and make the Prescott loss look like a total fluke.
I agree with you but don't think it is going to happen. It looks like the excuses are being set up already "I want to fight but Roach doesn't". We all have been here before with I will give Prescott a rematch. You can fool some of the people some of the time, most of the people most of the time but not all of the people all of the time and if Team Khan keep on spinning bullshit the some of the people is going to get less and less.Even his hard core fans must be starting to question this nonsense. With me Khan is getting to the same credibility levels as Tony Blair every-time he opens his mouth I just feel bullshit is coming. This is a watershed point for me. Khan can beat Maidana there is no reason to duck.

I dont get it!!! Why fight salita and i defend him because it was a mandatory and now you would avoid another mandatory who happens to be a bigger puncher than Salita in Maidana???
Team Khan really fukked this one up big time
The point of Kotelnik was that all champions at 135 were too good so Khan moved 'up' to fight a paper champion at 140, even tho Khan is massive in this division already size wise, Salita was a top 100 contender who Khan was happy to fight because he psoed no threat, Now there is a genuine tough No 1 contender, who can hit and they are vacating.
So there was no point in fighting Kotelnik or Salita and Andreas Kotelnik should get his belt back.
It looks now like he is just not going to fight anyone anymore who can crack.
It has always LOOKED that way ,now he is PROVING it. There is a chance this fight might still go ahead but if Khan bails out I don't think we will see Khan in a REAL competitive fight for several years. Just hype job money spinners that suckers will buy into.I suspect Carl Froch is right about Khan. I hope I am proved wrong but all the evidence says otherwise.
