Id have to say one was Cotto's loss to Paq. At least when you think about his loss to Marg, their is the possibility that Marg was fighting outside the bounds. Cotto was in a lose lose situation there.
Sounds weird but the 3rd Duran fight hurt SRL due to getting the eye injury aggravated. SRL won the fight hands down but Duran cut his eye very bad in RD11. Leonard never won a fight again after that punch from the man of the hands of stone. Hearns gave SRL a retina issue with their first fight so his eyes always were a major concern for him.
I think the 3rd Barrera fight took alot out of Morales and it was suprising that he fought pac 3 times, he definitely should have retired after their second fight.
Mugabi took something out of Hagler he wasent the same against SRL and that is despite the fact that some thought he didnt lose that fight. If Hagler was 100% Leonard might have not got out the ropes in RD9 with that flurry.
Jones Jr lost alot of weight to go back to LHW and fight Tarver. He really was never the same again as would get Kod by both Tarver and Glenn Johnson.
Collins was never the same again after the Resto plaster of paris.
Flash Elorde was not the same after the second lost to Ortiz.
Penalosa was not the same against after the Juan Manuel Lopez fight.
Mayorga was not the same again after the fight with trinidad.
Trinidad v Vargas. Vargas was never the same
Trinidad v Reid. Reid was done.
Hopkins v Trinidad. Hopkins stills dey souls
Hopkins v Taylor/Pavlik. Pretty sure about Taylor, will see on Pavlik.
true on all those, i always said taylor wasn't the same after fighting hopkins, but i've actually started to like taylor after his losses to pavlik, think he got a bad wrap on his rep......
i wouldn't say ruined but bones adams after losing the first fight to ayala, that was a robbery, he lost his intensity for boxing after that, it was really apparent in the rematch, then slowly faded off to do other shit, with a comeback here and there. i liked adams, he was fun to watch, slick.
Jeff Lacy is the first name that springs to mind. That fight was a career killer for him.
Benn's career was ruined after McClellan fight too. He quit in a fight with Steve Collins, something he would never have done pre McClellan. He wasn't right mentally, and he even tried to kill himself.
Quitali's "I quit match" vs Chris Byrd was probably the most monumental display of cowardice Ive ever seen in a proffesional boxing match.
Mayweather was faced with a similar situation when he broke his hand against Castillo. He couldve easily retired on his stool like that bitch Quitali did, but he didnt. Mayweather gutted his way to a controversial UD and maintained his unblemished record.
Thats the difference between a champ and a quitter.
Mayweather to Hatton
Eubank to Benn
Benn came back to win the WBC title and defend it nine times quicker than any fighter in history, including a true all-time epic against McClellan.
Hardly RUINING his career was the Eubank loss, though it looked like it would at the time...
