DLH?
It was Oscar who pursued that fight.
What unfair advantage did Manny have over Cotto who has a history of coming in at less than 147? Are you telling me that it was the one pound that made Cotto get his shit pushed in?
Cotto came in at
146 vs Quintana
146.5 vs Judah
146.25 vs Mosley
146.50 vs Gomez
146 vs Clottey
In 9 fights at welterweight, Miguel Cotto has weighed in at less than 147 pounds 5 times. Again, for the slow and stupid,
Miguel Cotto has come into a welterweight fight at less than 147 pounds for over half of his fights at welterweight.
Or, is your simple simon ass saying that in those five fights, Miguel Cotto chose to put himself at a disadvantage?
What ever happened to you dumb clowns saying, "its not the weight that matters, its the skills that pay the bills"?
"oh, but that was different"
Cotto didn't even look drained when he was getting his ass kicked in the rounds past 2 and 3. The guy kept coming at Manny in every round after. I didn't see a Dawson/Ward situation at all.
Because being weight drained by 7 pounds is much worse than 2 pounds.

I give the beating Marg gave Cotto more of an impact than the weight. Though Cotto himself says it was the weight. But so does Canelo about 152, it's just excuses at the end of the day.
cotto also said that AFTER the fight. look back a few pages to read the interview.
I don't need to read it after the fight either, because as I said it's science. You guys don't seem to be satisfied unless any Cotto fan is butthurt or offended that Manny lost. Yes, he lost he got beat from pillar to post it simply wasn't the best version of Cotto and the weight didn't help. That hurts your feelings more than me seeing Cotto get beat up, trust me lol.
Of course he's going to say that after the weigh in, what do you expect someone to say before entering a fight? I'm so weak from not eating for 3 days to lose that extra 1-2 pounds...
I don't look silly, you sound stupid thinking losing extra weight doesn't negatively affect you. When you're a fat f*ck, obviously not, when you're a shredded piece of muscle already, it affects you. Did Cotto agree? Yes. Was he a better fighter because of it? No.
There is no excuse there, it's just reality of life. Nothing fanboy or nuthugging about it, simply science. Your defense to this is... Cotto said no, so it must be true. Then you'll agree Margarito had illegal wraps, he'd beat Floyd in a rematch and with Roach, Manny will beat Floyd.

Doesn't matter what it was. Nobody cares either. It was a negotiating point. Miguel countered, accepted, and lost. End of story. He didn't have to take the fight just like he is choosing not to take the Golovkin fight.
so you don't know....
Look back a few pages, Cotto himself said he was fine. He even said it immediately after the weigh in. Cotto came in at
146 vs Quintana
146.5 vs Judah
146.25 vs Mosley
146.50 vs Gomez
146 vs Clottey
Stop now. You look silly.

He did have to take the fight or he was going to be stripped of his belt I believe. He was also under Top Rank and they tell you who to fight, he didn't have a choice at all. I do agree that Cotto accepted the terms, that doesn't mean making 145 didn't hurt him. You can't tell me he is better losing two pounds than gaining it.

Do you even know the initial catchweight that pac's team wanted to fight cotto at?

As much as I like Manny Pacquaio, I can't totally dismiss the asterisk factor and the many questions as to possible PEDs use. Yes, he whooped Cotto and yes it looked great in high definition but... Again, the question is out there. I am not going to be giving out trophies anytime soon considering the likelyhood of juicing. I know Freddie Roach is on record as saying Ariza was a shady bastard and would not tell him what he was "giving Manny..." This is one of the reasons Roach got rid of Ariza...
Manny is a likeable guy so for me it's unfortunate but I am a cynical bastard and I understand where there is smoke, there is often fire.
War PEDS!
i think people take the word "drained" in exaggeration. some fighters are fine and some aren't with a CW.
Cotto was 146 a fight before against Clottey. He lost 1 pound extra for Manny coming up in weight from 140 and said he was fine.
Team Pac likely just hopes Cotto's muscles are more worn than usual trying to lose an extra pound or two than usual? I would imagine CWs are harder on guys who blow up after fights too.
Something like this I expect...you take what you can get. More for the other guy to worry about, etc.
So why does anybody bother asking for a cw then?
Why get that when you could maybe get the kinda gloves you want, or get a smaller ring if you're a stalker, or a bigger one if your legs are younger, etc...
