Pacquiao fought him twice. They would have had an immediate rematch if Marquez hadn't turned down the fight because he didn't want to split the purse 50/50 with Pacquiao.
Barrera fought him once.
Morales offered him a fight after the Barrera rubber match , Marquez turned down the fight saying he needed to be paid more. Pacquiao took the fight instead.
Hamed offered him a fight when one of his opponents pulled out of a fight , Marquez turned it down again saying he wanted more money.
That is all.
And I know that it's a long shot for Morales to win a fourth title, but what if he happens to beat JMM to it and does it before he does? What if Morales some how set up a fight with Khan, which is possible in the future and catches him on the chin and KOs him and in the process becomes the first Mexican fighter to win that fourth title? JMM would then have no choice but to beat Bradley for it if he expected to be mentioned in the same breath as Morales where greatness is concerned.
I think JMM is kind of a diva myself. But every fighter is up to an extent. Look at Valero. He has no intention it looks like of fighting guys like Funeka and Bradley. JMM is at least in the latter stage of his career. But that is why he only has such a limited amount of time to out do Barrera and Morales. His wins over Casa and Diaz don't do it for me. I am not a JMM hater at all, I just think he gets overrated by some people.
same.
trying to give a little to the marquez fans.
it'll make them feel better.
but the fact remains those fights were offered. jmm has no one to blame but himself.
fair enough
yes it was mostly beristain's fault.
not trying to blame marquez.
i'm just saying quit saying barrera , marquez , pacquiao , hamed all ducked him to excuse his light resume.
i didn't say hamed didn't avoid marquez.
he did.
but the point is he offered marquez a fight. is it the money marquez wanted? no.
yes it was short notice but it wasn't like 1 week notice or something. i think it was like 6-7 weeks before the fight. i don't remember.
certainly not a manuel vargas against donaire type scenario.
are you the same poster as thread starter because if you are u did say hamed did not duck or avoid Marquez
they're not lies.
i'm telling you.
i swear on my family.
hamed offered jmm a fight. jmm turned it down.
morales offered jmm a fight. jmm turned it down and pac took the fight.
jmm turned down the immediate rematch with pac.
these are all true. i don't need to make it up.
the hamed fight being offered needs to be mentioned with * because it was offered on short notice as you already admitted that. the fight was offered after Marquez was the number 1 ranked contender for a long time and less deserving fighter got a crack at hamed. so you really are stretching the truth when you imply hamed did not duck Marquez
Funny, a Tua fan talking about myths.................
Lol nah just joking, Tua's alright.
But yeah, Marquez, i think he gets slightly over-rated, and i reckon Hamed may just of handled him..........If you watch the dismantling of Hamed by Barrera, I think it's safe to say that JMM could've accomplished that as well.
they're not lies.
i'm telling you.
i swear on my family.
hamed offered jmm a fight. jmm turned it down.
morales offered jmm a fight. jmm turned it down and pac took the fight.
jmm turned down the immediate rematch with pac.
these are all true. i don't need to make it up.
I think Marquez would've beat Hamed and he seemed to have Pac figured out by the end of the first fight, so I like his chances in an immediate rematch.
But I can see why he turned down a Morales fight.
Marquez first attempt at a title, age 26, LUD
Finally wins vacant title at age 29 against an aging Medina, coming off a loss.
That's why he's still fighting at 36.
Hard to believe that Marquez turned it down but i'll take your word for it since I don't know much about it. Just out of common sense I don't believe Marquez had much to do with these decisions. I think that if it was up to him he would have taken the offers and it was one of those "I'll fight who my promoter tells me to fight" situations. Maybe he had no choice or power to pick who he wants, that's what I meant by Marquez could have a valid explanation to defend himself.
they made a lot of bad decisions.
what if he took the fight with hamed and took hamed's 0 the way barrera did and did it before? now barrera and morales move up to 126 and marquez is the man of the division. big paydays no?
what if he took the immediate rematch with pac? improved 130 pac barely pulled off a controversial SD win. maybe jmm would have won the immediate rematch at 126?
what if he took the offer morales gave him? pacquiao took the same offer. they ended having a 3 fight trilogy at 350K ppv buys each. those are huge numbers for a super featherweight fight.
