Are people overrating Mosley and underrating Berto?

From what I've seen and read, people simply think that Berto is not ready for Mosely or Shane is too old. It's going to be a good fight. Mosely will take Berto to places he hasn't been and we will see how he respond. I dont think just that its Mosleys too old, because I believe he has a lot of fight left in him. I just think Bertos speed at his age that will get him.

exactly...we dont really know what kind of shane mosely we'll see...he looked like a world beater against Margarito but that bout has also made me question how much of Tony was really there...could be a Berto coming-out-party or an exposing of a hype boxing fans are hard ****ers, but thats how it is time to see if you elite or are you just B class fighter agreed. ppl forget mosley was a 12th round KO away from losing to mayorga... i remember after the fight, everybody was saying shane needs to retire... i actually took up for for the guy, like "damn, he did WIN this fight." i agree, one fight can change ppl's perceptions of a fighter. margarito looked indestructable against cotto, then got KO'ed by shane in his next fight. shane looked past it against mayorga, but then looked "prime" against margarito. what shane comes out against berto? - is the question... i pick andre for the upset, but this is a close fight, IMO. i like what this guy said if mosely come out attacking the body like he did marg berto might be in some shit he didn't like those body shot from collazo. if berto decide to fight on the inside he get push to the ropes and beat the hell up, berto need to fight smart on the outside and trade in spots too mosley honest but the man is fighter and mosley will make him fight. i like both there chances but ill have to lean towards mosley. berto is all to willing to stand in fight. damn i want both these ****ers to win, come on berto prove your worth to the boxing fans they think you hype. i wouldn't be surprise if any one of them win

Mosley is an ATG fighter, but hes past prime. He hasnt beaten a really good fighter since De La Hoya. He looked fast compared to Margarito, but Berto is going to beat him to the punch all night and Mosley will look his age.

Yo i wanna see this one bad. Both dudes are bangers. Hopefully shane didnt get soft chasing mayweather and pacquiao for a fight. Berto better not even think age is a matter. Shanes coming to make a statement. Agreed...unfortunately Mosley bangs harder....(no homo). Again....if Collazo can catch Berto....imagine what Mosely can do....I see Berto getting sparked in the latter rounds....just my opinion though.

yea, Terry was a personal favorite and i just had to ask...Berto's had some nice stoppages but none of the Norris-Joe Gatti variety :D Terry's fights against Santana (2 DQs and the 2nd round TKO), Taylor and Rios.....those were pretty special to me....now that I think about it even more...Berto now reminds me of a WW Azuma Nelson...."the professor"....hehehehe :boxing:

I think mosley might be over looking berto and will be in a 4 a suprise..... As a seasoned fighter.....I highly doubt Mosley "overlooks" anyone.....he knows that if he did "overlook" Berto....he would get smashed....BUT....he also knows that if he fights HIS fight....Berto will get smashed....big difference between overlooking and confidence. :fing02:

Flip the script. Everybody thinks SSM is washed up. Berto is gettin too much hype cuz of that. I think Berto gets dealt wit. He's the overrated one imo.

There are alot of ignorant boxing fans! More people seem to be assuming Mosley has just aged overnight and will stare dumbfounded while Berto speeds around him. Like Mosley has never seen anyone with speed before. Exactly... Boxers who dont take alot of punishment and who take care of themselves dont get old overnight. Shane has good defense and is always in great shape. He wont get old overnight. The year layoff may have added 3 more years to his career. Berto is in trouble.

Shane is not overrated! How could anyone say that? Shane Mosley is going to outbox Berto early and stop him late. Berto is in over his head and will see early in the fight from some serious body shots that Shane is the strongest puncher that he has ever face. Shane knows how to break fighters down and he does it with body shots. Shane gives a good show consistently and never stinks out a fight. Some ignorant poster said that the best boxer that Shane has fought was Wright, well I disagree, Cotto is a good boxer, Collazo is a good boxer, Vargas is a good boxer, Dela Hoya is a good boxer. Shane has fought fighters that are better than Berto, but Berto has never fought a fighter that is considered better than Shane and both guys knows this. I see Shane winning by a wide margin and even stopping Berto late.

I use to be a big Berto fan. But watching his inside game against Collazo I realized he lacks that. He isn't to accurate with his punches. He also is pretty easy to be hit and very flat footed. He also fought scared against Urango a hand picked oppenent. That's slow and a fast fighters dream. Shane is way bigger than Urango and can box in the inside and outside. This is going to be a hard fight for Berto. Winky said he worked woth both fighters before. He thinks Berto is going to be in some serious trouble. When Shane imposes his will on Berto. That's when we will see what Berto is really made of.

I see a passing of the torch. Mosley's win over Marg was a smoke screen and ive maintained that even since he won that fight. I like Shane but i dont think he has enough left to beat Berto. I can see him knocking Berto out if!! he catches him, but i think that his only chance to win. Berto by UD

Man I was the same way when I first saw him fight. He has all of the physical attributes of a real champ, but there is something lacking somewhere. We've touched on his lapses in concentration. Do you think he would benefit from a change in trainers? I don't think its even "a change of trainers" thing......I think its more of a he's still only 25 fights into his career..and even then...he's only started fighting "elite" (if you want to put Forbes/Collazo/Urango in that category) fighters recently. My opinion...Berto is a legit champ...but very Green in the aspects of ring generalship, stamina and overall experience. Putting him in the ring against a VERY HUNGRY and something to prove Mosely could sidetrack his career for a solid year or two. Remember...Mosley has more to gain/lose in this fight than Berto.....Mosley has been told..."Getting old"....."Bitching about not getting fights with Mayweather/Pacquiao"....."If Nazim diddn't catch the plaster, Margarito would've KO'D his @$$"......and people are saying this to SUGAR SHANE.....I mean come on....he calls out Floyd to his face on PPV....conceeds to any and all of Team Pc's demands for a fight.....says he was willing to fight ANYONE (not named P-Will) and now he's fed this young cub.....Shane will prove to all of us that he is still the flagship of GBP. :boxing:

DAMN! Terry? Who had Berto sparked out to make you think that pare? Mak, no one in particular....just the way that he was KOin fools....he was a beast before the Forbes fight.....I think he only let like 3-4 of his fights go the distance before Forbes....so his tenacity and ability to KO WWs (albeit journeymen and fringe fighters) was pretty good. Maybe its just me...but he very much reminded me of Terrible Terry....

Don't get me wrong, Mosley is a top welterweight and put on one of the performances of his career. But, do you that's being overrated? I mean, Margarito's plaster wraps were removed and I think he basically fought a feather-fisted version of Margarito. He was open all night and Mosley took the opportunity to capitalize on it. It was just a bad style match-up for Mosley. Berto's another story, though. He's got some good talent and, even though he had a very close fight against Collazo, he's still a top fighter in the welterweight division. The last time Mosley faced a good boxer was against Winky Wright and you know what happened. I'm not saying Mosley is gonna lose, I'm just saying it might be a tougher fight than some expect. What do you think? I agree, Mosley was amazing against Margarito but the fact that Margarito knew he was in shit over the wraps must have been playing on his mind, Mosley will go into the this fight as the favourite but it will be a tough fight. I don't think Mosley will knock Berto out but he will win a closeish decision.
