ROY JONES JR BREAKS HIS SILENCE: DANNY GREEN CHEATED!
By G. Leon
RJ believes Hopkins fight is still viable! "I'd rather lose fair than win cheating!"
GL: Can you give us some thoughts on the Danny Green fight and tell us what went wrong? "Nothing really went wrong. I peaked a little early on training camp number 1. But along with that, they allowed him to wrap his hands two hours earlier and they allowed him to use stuff that they not supposed to use. The gauze that you use isn't supposed to have no adhesive nothing on it, you know what I mean? They first try to give me a pair of used gloves, I said, 'how am I going to fight in used gloves?' Then they gave me new gloves and by then we saw how they was wrapping his hands and we were complaining because from what we're used to this is illegal. They said no, you're not fighting in used gloves now so we're going to let his hands stay wrapped just the way they are. Then he hits you with a shot behind the head with a cast on, I'm a fighter, pound for pound one of the best, but you can't hit me in the back of the head with a baseball bat and think it won't do something to me."
why would someone in their right mind just say "no comment"???? Saying no comment to something is either to not admit guilt or because you're hiding something.
Add all of that to the ****ing ego this guy has all of a sudden saying hes a legend now, etc., and I hope to the boxing gods that hopkins does not fight this guy. Fuuck danny green, let him have a fight with mundine and after that no one will give a shit about him anymore.
Don't do it hopkins!
I agree. What's funny is that I felt the same way about Calzaghe fighting Roy and Bernard. I was hoping that neither one of the old guys would fight him becuz if Joe won then people would treat it as if he'd beat both of those guys in their prime.
The same applies now to Danny Green.
I wouldn't mind seeing Green vs. Adameck.
It's not a good choice of words IMO.
If someone is accusing me of something I didn't do, the words: Absolutely false, not true, ridiculous, absurd, a lie, not the case... all come to mind before "no comment".
It may or may not have been a real issue but I was responding to those who questioned Green's choice of words when asked about the handwraps. Atleast around where I'm from (Finland and the quote is used there), saying "no comment" usually means that you feel the question is not worth responding to more so than an admission of guilt.
"No comment" might just mean it's such a ridiculous question that it's not even worth responding to.
Well there was obviously an issue, on the actual live telecast of the fight, there was a delay and they mentioned there being an issue with gloves and wraps.
GL: Any accusations that he's making about the wraps being illegal are completely false?
Danny Green: "No comment on that mate, now I'm off to do Bernard Hopkins business."
WTF, does that mean?
perhaps he should have Naz Richardson in his corner and then his hands would have been rewrapped.
Yeah, he should of just refused to go on with the fight.
Eh, so which is it? Is Floyd's brain scrambled?
lol just read Green's full response - a bit has been left out on here:
I must have hit Roy harder than I thought because Roy brought and wore his own gloves to the fight.

No comment was a dumn ass response though.
The fight was 14 days ago.
I don't know what to make of the story myself, but I found this a little odd.
GL: Is there a rematch clause?
Danny Green: "Yeah, there is, but it's not immediate."

Yep thats odd mate, Why is he saying no comment when he isnt interrogated by the police??? I find that odd too..

1st of about the stoppage, he didnt take any head shots but about 4 or 5 went through to the body so it wasnt like he wasnt getting hit. And it was an English ref (im sure u know how regular that kind of stoppage is in England). And he didnt hit back. I've no complaints about the stoppage.
Dunno about a rematch clause or about whether Jones wanted one and was truned down - so link me please.
And what did u expect Green to do after the win? Sit back quietly, or use his 15 minutes of fame to land another big money fight against another big name. He's 36. Retirement looms. Of course he's gonna be talking to American TV looking another marquee fight. He'd be an idiot if he didnt ffs.
And i ask again, why did Jones fight him with all his experience in the sport if he knew the wraps were dodgey? Either he's an idiot, or bullshitting. So **** him. And he had no complaints after the fight. He waited until it couldnt be proved otherwise.
Green will get his ass kicked by the first semi-world class fighter he faces (who's not shot to shit). U dont like him? fair enough, sit back and enjoy the show. Roy was pretty specific though so i don't know. and that No comment statement really blew Green's credibilty. I smell some fishyness!
listen to some reason here fellas. he got caught out there Green fed off the home cooking period end of story. he wraps or no wraps I think the fight was stopped prematurely. I think there were not enough clean blows to force the reff into stopping the fight. Steve Smoger would have been more warranted for stopping Taylor vs pavlik 1 when JT had Pavlik in trouble and put him dwon early and Pavlik managed to hold on. Jones does not hold on he puts his ear muffs on and keeps hi sguard high and lets you punch your self out sometime. I would have at least let Jones make it through the round or force Green to put him down again before I stepped in and stopped the fight. now this CHUMP GREEN is going around parading himself on HBO like he accomplished something??? Even if he did beat Roy Jones fair which I am beginning to second guess. He is obivously not interested in giving him a rematch. I think that has factored into it and why Roy might have kept his mouth shut for two weeks or so. Trying to obtain a rematch on US soil and not getting it. Now he is pissed thinking it over like pointed out and calling him a cheater....If you really think you bested him and could do it again why not give him the rematch he wants?....Lefty
