It might be a good idea for Hopkins to have some serious talks with Kirkland about turning his life around. At least give him some pointers.
It's frustrating to see someone with potential blow it.
Let me put me 2 cents in here
I have friends actually box against him in the amateurs, and been following this kid since he was a teenager (me and him are the same age and from the same area). To tell you the truth, he is the most mentally tough fighters out there. This want effect him at all.
The only question, and this has always been his biggest problem, is his dedication to the sport and discipline. I mean for one, this kid is getting into this type of trouble in Austin. For those who don't know, that city is so laid back and about as easy to stay outta trouble as it gets. To have the type of issues he has clearly shows how undisciplined he is. The question that remains to be answered is will he take his career seriously and dedicate himself to the sport. He atleast owes it to his kids to do so.
to be honest, in his prime he would never have beaten martinez. styles all wrong for him, and martinez has an iron chin.
angulo? hed definently beat angulo.
hope that chick trainer he had sticks with him.
My guess is he won't be the same; he might take a belt or two, maybe. Look at Mike Tyson after he got out.
Mike was in there for 3 years, plus his state of mind was already ****ed before he even stepped in prison.
Kirkland will be fine. If anything the rest has been good for his body.
He needs to send that judge a % of his purse for the rest of his life for basically letting him off the hook.
Kirkland will be back just as good as he was before. This won't do anything to impede his progress.
I hope so, the guys was a straight up beast, I think he's up there with Williams and Martinez as the best in the division.
ya james does have that mental toughness. jail didnt affect it the first time i hope he still has it.
i want him figh one soft touch to get his confidence back, one joel julio type of fight to show the world hes really back, then hes ready to bust up angulo, paul williams, martinez or anybody else. julio landed bombs and kirkland loved it he is attacking every second of every round hes the most ferocious fighter since maybe a prime tyson. or at least was. i hope he has it when hes out
Good news
Kirkland is the most dangerous guy going. I like Martinez and Angulo a lot but I think he beats them both as well as Paul Williams provided he gets back to pre prison form. He's young enough to come all the way back.
