The self proclaimed greatest fighter ever, and the media is already on his back for not fighting the top welters, not to mention guys like Merchant pointing out he is not the most exciting fighter around..
If he loses it will be a field day, if he gets blown out and kod it would be even worse.
thoughts?
not a floyd fan
yes it will be bad for mayweather bec he's going to lose that precious zero. His "I am the Best Ever" mantra is built on this record
but EXTREMELY bad? No...not at all. you don't suddenly change from a highly technical and skilled boxer to a shite one because you lose one battle! This is boxing, you win some, you lose some! If one loss makes a boxer become a shell of himself then boxers are the biggest pussies of all athletes!
Okay he is getting older but he is still very fit and looks after himself really well. There are good WW around he can challenge before finaly retiring
What does it say about FLOYD and his legacy if he dominates Top 5 ATG Pacquiao in Pac's prime?
Just how do you figure Pac to be aq top 5 all time great?
Im bumping this question because I'd like an answer from NYU Alum or anyone else who feels Pac is or will be a top 5 all time fighter should he beat Mayweather. Anybody?
Chups,
You are missing my question. Perhaps i worded it poorly.

This guy losing is always bad because he doesn't mesh in with what everyone wants him too so his only way to keep the band wagon and fan today gone tomorrow people around is to be a winner.
Yeah. Below 1 million is a ruined career.
Nice work.
Did I see below 1 mil? My bad, I meant below 100K. Who's gonna watch this guy fight if he's already lost? Seriously! The only reason people watch his fights is to watch him lose. He said so himself.
It would ruin his career. People watch Floyd because he's undefeated. Casual fans don't like the way he fights because its "boring". His personality is not that of a crowd favorite. His resume has been criticized numerous times. All he's got as a boxer and an athlete is that "0". Without that, he's got nothing but money. If he loses, his next PPV will fall well below 1 mil buys. Fact.
Honestly, in reality, if Manny Pacquiao wins a hard fought, close decision win- which is the only way he could, in any real likelihood, beat Floyd, I don't think Mayweather's entire career is in shambles; unless it's his last fight.
Honestly, if Floyd lost a close decision to Manny; then beat the shit out of the winner of Mosley-Berto, slapped around what's left of Miguel Cotto, gave Margarito a return to welterweight and made him look stupid (all of these are purely hypothetical and random examples) and then fought a rematch with Manny or even retired, he'd still have the merits of a great career.
Yes, a loss would be bad for any boxer- especially in a mega fight. A loss for Manny would be devastating to his momentum, too. Especially to the casual fan- which is where he's recently gained so much esteem.
How that boxer deals with it determines, in the long run, how bad it is- for Mayweather or anyone.
Mich,
You are talking about human beings. Let's keep things in perspective. don't let your hate make you say dumb stuff.

You guys always go overboard
where did i say i hated the guy im actually somewhat of a fan. THe suicide was a bit overboard but u can tell that losing that 0 on his record would destroy him mentally.

yes, because floyd's self-professed argument for greatness is his undefeated record. without it he isn't so special.
It depends how he loses. If he fights his heart out and loses a close decision or gets stopped in a war, then he has no reason to be ashamed.
It does hurt his drawing power because he short-sightedly put so much emphasis on being undefeated, when in reality fans don't care about records in boxing, they just want to see great fights. Most of his drawing power is that he plays the villain who everyone wants to see get knocked off. When he does get beaten, where does he go from there?
good point, but the odds of Mayweather fighting in a war is slim to none
