I will tell you this much anyone who think one guy is going to walk through the other is gravely mistaken. For each fighter better be prepared and is going to be in the fight of their lives.
The size difference is not that much. The edge goes to Mayweather as far as being the bigger man.
The speed difference is not that much I would say Pacquiao may be a little faster as far as hand speed and combinations.
The power goes to Pacquiao. The ring generalship goes to Mayweather.
Boxing ability goes to Mayweather by a larger margin than any of the other categories.
Explosiveness goes to Pacquiao. We have all seen what he can do when going on the attack and tryng to finish his guy.
COunter punching goes to Mayweather and he is going to get alot of opportunities to capitalize on that edge.
This si going to be a war and for all the chips winner takes the P4P title and supreme reign as cash cow in the industry. For all you Pac fans out there saying it is easy money for your favorite fighter your are gravely mistaken. I think styles make fights and although Floyd is not going to be in for a walk in the park the edge where it counts in style goes to Floyd.....Lefty
Just my own idea but I would like to see Pac come out aggressive, considering a defensive counterpuncher naturally begins without an actual "feel" of the speed and angles of an attacking fighter. Best chance of taking a lead, flash KD or KO. If Pac gets a lead he has a better chance of dictating tempo later in the fight if Floyd is behind on the cards (Floyd needing to make up a lead will prevent him from getting on his bike and defensive). If the opening rounds end with Floyd ahead and Floyd already able to properly time Pac, Floyd can make it a defensive fight, giving Pac less chances to successfully attack him. Both of them will be in great shape and save for the surprise punch for KD or KO will require a lot of accumulated damage to start gassing in late rounds.
This is what GG and I discussed the other night on GET UR FACTS STRAIGHT with Horus....If PAC puts rounds in the bank early on due to activity he will make it a different fight late in the rounds and we may see Roger telling Floyd he got to stand in the middle of the ring and fight. This is what Horus said he would want to seehappen but as a FMJ fan he is up in the air but selfishly he would want to see it as a boxing fan. I think this is the way Pacquiao can win or has the best chance to win. So I agree with you on this and although I still see FMJ taking the fight I sned you some green K.....Lefty
Werd..
As a Pacfan.. this is a 50/50 fight...
As a fan of boxing I hope we see a competitive fight with some explosive fire works....Lefty

Does anyone see Pacquiao fighting a different type of fight. In what scenario do you see pacquiao winning the fight fellas?....Lefty

Defintely one way the fight could play out in my mind. Floyd keeping the fight at range will require the use of a JAB. I have said it before you don't get to this level without having a good jab. Floyd also has a laser beam of a lead right hand. I expect him to time and use his right hand. As for the switching to south paw I didn't expect that I do expect to see Floyd on the ropes at times shoulder rolling. He got there with ODLH and I think PAC can apply enough pressure and hit him a time or two to back Floyd up. Floyd fights well backing up and moving around the ring so PAC will have to cut off the ring better in this match....Lefty

The fight is crazy to me because Pac with the speed and power vs Mayweathers defense and boxing. Im not sure what to expect Mayweather has more than one he can approach the fight witch adds to the intrigue. Pac can provide a different type of pressure but may have to fight more disiplined than usual. I expect Pac punch output to drop a bit at times in order to set up traps. I doudt we see Floyd on the ropes much rolling the shoulder. I think he keeps it at range in the middle of the ring and switches to southpaw a couple times to give Manny different looks. I change my mind on how this fight plays out daily

Nobody is dominatin this fight or scorin a quick KO.
Mang whut up homie? I tend to agree with you to some point but I also want to say although I don' think we will see a 2nd round KO like in the PAC vs Hatton fight a quick KO is not out of the realm of possibilities. A quick KO doesn't mean it was an easy money fight. I mean look at Hagler vs Hearns. Those two guys dished and took more punishment in the 3 rounds they fought than some fighter take or give in three years of fighting. And it ended in an early round KO....Lefty
I also suspect it is the more defensive Floyd coming for Pac.
If that is the presumption, I have two things to say then. As a fan, I will expect a more technical (boring to some) fight, granted with Pac being the other guy there will be fireworks one way or the other but not as much if it were the other version of Floyd.
The other is that Pac may be better off worrying about single or double counters instead of aggressive counter flurries from a defense oriented Floyd. I say this conceding that Floyd is faster and more accurate than JMM counterpunching. IMO it was the counter flurries of JMM that messed up Pac's rhythm in their fights along with the ability of JMM to sit on Pac's left hand. While Floyd may be a better counterpuncher, Pac now has a better right hand making him more difficult to counter punch and his ability to absorb heavy hits may allow him to accept some punishment in order to find openings for his own attacks.
Finally, I keep thinking of the saying that the punches you don't see are the one that really hurt you. Clearly, both fighters have the capacity to inflict such punches so I will be waiting to see who connects with more of those kind of punches. This I think is the true question in this fight who can land the punches that the other does not see coming.
Great point i highlighted my man good post and a good observation. I to think PAC is no longer a one handed fighter and is less predictable in his attck. As i have stated on the show he has dropped opponents with both the left and right hand in his last few fights. I think someone will and can be dropped by a punch they don't see coming....Lefty
I see a sim between JMM and FMJ as they are both great counter punchers. but to me JMM is much more hittable than Floyd. Floyds hand speed is light years beyond what JMM can do. But stylistically as a counter puncher yes as far and standing toe to toe JMM will fight back and open up much more.
I agree with you as too which is bolded. I think Floyd with his shell and sholuder roll will be the one we see on fight night. if it is the other Floyd Manny is much more live in the fight and we as fans are going to see a more exciting match up. I would put Judah in there as a possible stylistic comparision to Manny in the fact that he is a south paw with extremely great speed and power. The only thing is Manny can bang in there for 12 rounds and Judah has issues going past 4. Thsi to me is a mental blockage in which Judah can't get past and doesn't believe in training hard enough for fights..Good post my man...Lefty

You forgot about the intangibles. Such as, b*lls, PAC clearly wins that one. And if Mo**ey Mayweather is behind and he has no choice but to go into PAC's wheelhouse, Mo**ey is gonna be sportin' some dentures!
ZFloyds got b@lls he just uses his brain more than proving he has b@lls. That being said The only intagibiles I see that could play out and give us all something to talk about forever is this.
Lets say the two year layoff has affected Floyd. I mean it didn't show up in his first fight but like I said that was a glorified sparrign session but trip on this Maybe Floyds lost a step his hands have slowed down just a bit his reaction time is a milli second off and his reflexes aren't what they used to be at his current age. This means those windows of opportunity aren't there or they are but he can't capitalize on them. maybe he gets caught with some big and we see Floyd hurt? How will he react to being hurt for the first time inhis career? Will he go into a shell become even more gun shy or does he open up and fire back? Will manny be able to expose thesr things. I mean he aint fighting a 36 year old JMM he aint fighting a open faced brawler like Hatton he is facing a very dangerous man. These are the intagiable I am talking about. Both these men have b@lls come on man you dont get to this level with out being tested at some point. You don't go down to your local GYM expecting to get hit in the face and punish your body like so if you aint got b@lls. The question is what is it that they do have or do they have too much b@lls for their own good...Lefty
Props to your thread! A good deal of decent discussions.
Interesting question, first of all I agree that there neither fighter has seen a previous opponent very similar to the one that they will be facing in March. For Pac, it probably is JMM that is "similar" to Floyd. (although some aspects of Morales come to mind too) I think part of the problem is I am not sure which version of Floyd comes in ( more active pre welterweight Floyd or more defensive post welterweight Floyd ) For Floyd, I can't really say who is "similar" to Pac, Judah and Corley (?) are mostly mentioned but I think that is due to being southpaw fighters like Pac and not much else. Pac's "awkwardness" really makes him different IMO.
pretty damn obvious
Observation is key my friend. Some of the most obvious things go unseen my man. The obvious thing here is this thread is getting hit up due to good discussion and not just guys throwing around dumb comments and hate post. But goosd observation joe now what do you think those comparisons due for either fighter on fight night. Comeon give us your thoughts. When you have a good synapsis don't be afraid just hit the keys and post it I will be here waiting to answer tell me if that is obvious....Lefty

Floyd didn't fight Marquez for a tune up or even because he called him out. It was a strategic move. he fought Marquez because besides FMJ JMM was the second biggest money fight out there for PAC. PAC could have used that as a bargaining chip and maybe went with a fight aganst JMM would have sold decent PPV numbers and sold out an arena too boot. FMJ took out JMM by fighting him and beating him handily all the cries of PAC vs JMM IIII are gone. Anyone even mention that? The only thing I have heard is FMJ, PAC and SSM being thrown around...Let me pose another question to all
Stylistically who is the closest to PAc a previous opponent the FMJ has fought?
Remember the closest no one out there is like PAC....
On the flipside Stylistically who is the closest to Floyd a previous opponent the pac has fought?
Remember the closest no one out there is like fLOYD....lEFTY

Anyone got answers to my question above? Also I was thinking is Amir Khan the best sparring partner for Manny? Who would be a good sparring partner for Floyd? I remember when Oscar was fighting Floyd they brought in Shane Mosley to immitate Folyd style...Any answers or ideas?..../Lefty
the only reason it is not easy money is because vegas wont make Mayweather the underdog... Because if they did. It would be EASY MONEY!!
Horus take some of the questions from this thread and lets talk abou tit tonight when I call in. You and me go 1 on 1 for a few and let the peeps listen in before we take some more calls...Oh by the way I got money on Money may and points too....Lefty

Mayweather vs Pacquiao not easy money for either fighter | BoxingScene Community
